"Lance!"

I turned around whilst swinging my arms about. It was obnoxious, I know, but I couldn't help it.

"You forgot your towel!" Allura shouted as she began unpacking the car.

"Keep it! I'm gonna go for a swim." I shouted over the high winds of the beach. The waves were calling my name, and I won't keep it waiting.

I jogged to the shoreline, surf board in hand, and treaded through the cool salty waters.

It was nice out today, as it always was.

I swiftly and smoothly dove onto the water, allowing the surfboard to glide along the surface of the ocean.

A good wave seemed to be forming. I could easily feel the pull of the water. It was drawing me in, as if it chose me to ride it.

I smirked and steadily balanced on my unsteady two feet. I crouched just as the wave caught me, already beginning to form a large tunnel of swirling water over my head.

I surged along the curling wave, as if threading my board into its very being.

I could feel the air inside the wave begin to thin and cool, being replaced gradually by the salty water. The wave was beginning to collapse. That's fine, I know how to swim.

My favorite part about surfing is allowing the wave to collapse over you, and finding out how to surface safely. It was also the most dangerous, considering one wrong move could get you into an endless round of crashing waves that swallow you whole.

I surfed to the opening at the end of the wave just before it completely collapsed. I had made it out safely.

Allura would have killed me if I had fallen along with the wave. She knows I purposefully submerge myself sometimes. And, even though I love it, I can't go back on my promise.

My family is everything to me and Allura is my family. Along with Hunk, Pidge, Shiro, and Coran. We all weren't blood related, except for Allura, who is my sister, but we might as well be.

I got off my surfboard once I was close enough to the shore and walked out of the waters.

Allura beckoned me to the back of the car, which was facing the beach. Everyone else, except Hunk, had gone off to play.

I sat next to Allura on the blanket placed upon the sandy surface.

"Have you noticed how Pidge has been acting?" Allura whispered.

I looked over at Pidge, who was in the distance kicking up sand near the shoreline.

"Yeah. What's up with her?" I asked quietly.

"I don't know." Allura replied glumly.

"Oh, Pidge?" Hunk butted in. "Yeah, she hacked into some school records in hopes that it would help her find her brother."

I rose a brow. "And did she?"

He shook his head. "No. She couldn't find anything. It was a dead end. Plus, she got caught and got in trouble."

I nodded as well as Allura.

Family was just as important for me as it is for Pidge. Ever since Matt, Pidges brother, disappeared, she has been going after him non-stop.

It's actually how we met. Pidge thought Matt had enrolled on my school at the time, and enrolled herself. He wasn't there though.

Hours later, which contained fully of the waves and myself, we all gathered together by the car and ate what Hunk had put together. After that, we headed home.

It was a dreadfully long trip back, and the sand in my trunks weren't helping.
