The Abyss is a remnant of Chaos, and the elemental spirits are the children of Order. In the earliest days of the world, Chaos and Order coexisted in harmony, balancing creation and destruction.

However, as life grew and flourished under the care of Order, Chaos became envious. It felt left behind, feared by the living beings it had helped bring into existence. Order tried to comfort Chaos, creating the elemental spirits to represent both creation and destruction in a balanced form. But Chaos was not satisfied—it wanted to be involved directly in the world, not just as an abstract force of entropy.

This jealousy and longing led to the first division between Chaos and Order. Chaos, wanting to assert itself in the material world, sought to corrupt life, and that's when the first seeds of the Abyss took root.
