It was Sunday. Their date was just two days ago and they already decided to go on a third date. At Jaeyuns place.
He was already stressing out about it. What if Heeseung didn’t like the food he was currently cooking? Was his house clean enough or still a mess? There were too many worries about what could go wrong.
He had regrets about asking Heeseung out for a date at his place. But he was excited as well. Something inside of him told him everything was going to be fine.
He took a breath. The food was as good as done and Heeseung was about to arrive any minute now.
Todays date will be good. Different but good. He was sure about it. And somehow he believed something was going to change. But he couldn’t figure out what it was.
The ringing of the doorbell got him out of his thoughts. With a nervous excitement he went to open the door and welcome Heeseung.
The older had a bunch of flowers in his hands and a big smile on his face.
“Hello stranger.”, Jaeyun said amused.
“Stranger? That is what I am to you?”, jokingly Heeseung shook his head. “Tz, if that’s the case I will just keep these roses for myself.”
Jaeyun laughed and just pulled Heeseung inside, out of the cold winter breeze. He closed the door and smiled at the other. “I’m really happy you're here.”
“And I am happy to be here.”
With that said they stood there. Smiling at each other. Just like they didn't need anything else. Seeing each other brought so much joy to them and never in this world would they want to change it.
Heeseung was the first one to break the silence.
“Okay, first of all, what is that amazing smell? And second of all,” he handed Jaeyun the roses, “these are for you. I picked out those that looked the most beautiful.”
“Did you? Why’s that?”
“Because I wanted them to match with you.”
The heat flushed to Jaeyuns cheeks. He didn’t expect an answer like this. He cleared his throat and turned around like he wanted to go back to the kitchen.
But in reality he wanted to hide his red cheeks, which Heeseung already had seen. And still he followed the latter to the kitchen.
Jaeyun put the roses in a vase and just looked at it for a moment. He couldn't remember the last time he received flowers from his ex. Or if he ever even got some. It just felt so... new.
He let out a sigh and turned around to see Heeseung looking at the family pictures at the wall. It seemed like he was in a completely different world. The pictures amazed Heeseung. And hurt him at the same time.
After he checked the food, Jaeyun went to Heeseung and stood right next to him. Then he just started talking about who was on the pictures. His mom, his dad, his grandmother.
"They seem like nice people.", Heeseung said after a while.
Jaeyun smiled a little. "They were the best people ever. The best someone could ever wish for."
Confused Heeseung looked at Jaeyun, unsure if he understood him correctly. "Were?"
"Yeah, were... They all passed away..."
"I'm so sorry you had to go through that..."
"I still miss them everyday. I struggled with the pain so much and at one point I didn't know how to handle it anymore. Until I found people to trust and lean on. People that care for me and people that I care for." Jaeyun looked at Heeseung, smiling. "And one of them stands next to me right now."
Heeseung was baffled. His heart eventually skipped a beat.
"Anyways, let's eat. I didn't put in the effort to make a traditional Australian dinner, just to not eat it."
And with that said they went to eat their food.
