The last days had passed in a blur. Heeseung and Jaeyun didn't have much time to see each other, their work and different appointments barely gave them a moment of rest. But today Jaeyun wanted to surprise Heeseung.

He stood outside of Heeseungs office, waiting for him to come out. Through the door Jaeyun could hear some murmurs, believing Heeseung was having a client, even though his shift had officially ended twenty minutes ago.

Another few minutes passed and finally Heeseung came out of the room, followed by a young woman. But Jaeyun only had to watch them for a moment to see the woman wasn't just a client - he was Heeseungs ex fiancee. Jaeyun had seen pictures of her at Heeseungs place before already.

Jaeyun saw the way she touched Heeseungs arm, the way she tried to put on a smile. And he also saw Heeseungs discomfort. The way he slightly flinched at the woman's touch, the way he avoided to look at her. Heeseung never told Jaeyun why they broke up but Jaeyun knew pressing for details would probably push Heeseung away.

The woman hugged Heeseung and Heeseung in return stiffened visibly. His gaze followed her until she was out of sight. The usual sparkle in Heeseungs eyes was replaced by a distant and sad expression.

"Hey.", Jaeyun finally said, kicking Heeseung out of his trance.

The older turned his head. He hadn't noticed Jaeyun was standing there. "Oh, hey. I didn't expect to see you today." Heeseung tried to muster a smile but it didn't quite reach his eyes.

Jaeyun shrugged his shoulders. "Just thought I would come by, maybe grab some dinner if you're up for it." He paused for a moment, then asked "How was your day?"

Heeseung let out a sigh. "It was okay I guess... just exhausting.."

Jaeyun nod in understanding - he was well aware why the day was exhausting for Heeseung. "Your ex... what did she want from you?", he asked carefully, a caring but concerned tone in his voice.

Heeseung tensed up slightly, his gaze dropping to the floor. He didn't want to talk about, didn't want to feel vulnerable. "Nothing important... just, you know... trying to talk me into giving her a second chance."

Jaeyun watched him for a few seconds. He had a feeling that what Heeseung told him wasn't the truth, but pressuring him for details wouldn't help. So he didn't ask anything else, just let it be. He went in for a hug instead, wrapping his arms around Heeseung, whispering, "I missed you", in a soft voice.

Almost instantly some of the tension that had built over the day left Heeseungs body. He returned the hug, holding Jaeyun tightly, not planning to pull back soon. Having Jaeyun so close, holding him in his arms made everything seem a bit easier. They stood their for a long time, just enjoying each other's company and comfort.

Eventually Heeseung pulled away just enough to look into Jaeyuns eyes. "Thank you, for coming here today. I didn't know how much I needed this."

A reassuring smile flickered over Jaeyuns face. "No need to thank me. I missed seeing you."

Heeseung rested his forehead against Jaeyuns, closing his eyes. "I missed seeing you too."

The gesture felt grounding, a feeling of calmness spreading through Heeseungs body as they stood there. A comfortable silence was washing over them and they both didn't want to let go of the moment yet. But when they finally let go of each other they both had a soft smile on their lips.

Jaeyun looked up, his eyes meeting Heeseungs. "Wanna go for a walk and grab some dinner after?", he asked softly.

Heeseung nodded. "I would like that a lot."

Jaeyun didn't waste a second and slipped his hand in Heeseungs, intertwining their fingers. "Let's go then."

Heeseungs smile widened a bit more and he gently squeezed Jaeyuns hand. "Yeah, let's go."

And like that they left the building hand in hand. Heeseung forgot about the conversation he had with his ex earlier and instead focused on spending his evening in the calming presence of Jaeyun.
