01 American Bat in Japan
Around 12 in midnight is when this story starts in a quiet road in a Japanese city known.
A group of five well-dressed individuals: 2 men and 2 women- all armed, were currently cruising through the empty road with bags of money beside them, laughing.
While that happened, a nearby bank alarm blared off in the distance.
"Oh man, that was so easy!" says their driver as he feels the wind blow on his face.
"Hai, you were right Takahashi-kun! Raiga-jiisan really WAS holding us back." said one of the women, Izumi, in the back as she held her hands up in the air.
The other woman, Sora, alerts their driver "Takahashi-san, we have company." before reaching down to her feet area and pulling out a submachine gun.
The sound of police sirens blaring quickly approaches, prompting the gang to pull out their guns.
Soon a classic police car chase scene occurred on a once quiet roads in Fuyuki. The black convertible's passengers began trading gun fire with the policemen behind them in an intense car chase.
When the robbers passed a highway, the front passenger then shouts "Baka! Don't go in the f**king highway! Do you WANT us to get caught?!" at Takahashi, their driver. Takahashi could only give his friend, Okuji, a stink eye before avoiding the highway.
Takahashi swerves the car and drives through the highway and on to another road which was currently far less occupied and starts flooring it. Due to the cross through the highway, the cops were stranded by the sudden traffic.
The driver barks out an order to one of his female compatriots.
"Izumi, status on the cops. Did we lose em?"
The exuberant girl then salutes as she confirms, "Yup! Takahashi-kun was amazing at losing the cops!"
After hearing the praise, the man smugly rubs his nose, saying "Of course! I wouldn't want my crew getting captured by cops now can I? Of course I have to go above and beyond for you guys. Especially after such a fine heist we pulled."
Okuji pushes his glasses up and reasons out, "But we should really keep our celebrations down for after we-" before quickly shouting "HEY!" after Izumi playfully takes his glasses from him.
She then teases him by throwing his glasses around, saying "Aw, Okuji, quit being such a spoilsport. We're on the top of the world right now!"
After having her fun, she gives the glasses back to the miffed Okuji who merely snorts. She then flails both hands up and declares, "No one can stop us! Not Raiga-jiisan! Not the sissy princess Taiga! Not even-" only to be cut off by the brief sound of cloth flapping, which was immediately followed up by a deep, masculine voice saying "Not even me?", making everyone stop what they were doing immediately. Everyone except Takahashi of course. Road safety and all that.
All four gaze up at the figure that had landed on the back side of the car with terror, fear and alarm.
What met their vision was unlike anything they've ever seen. A six foot tall, nearly jet-black figure with sharp glowing white eyes and two demonic horns.
A black cloth(?) drapes its body like furled wings which drink up the light around it. Whatever this thing is, it is was the stuff nightmares run from.
Takahashi could only make out a, "What the fu-", before the thing leaned in and attached something to the side of their car. With the sound a crossbow firing, the car was suddenly dragged into a concrete wall by what seemed like a steel cable tether which then was proceeded by the sound of glass shattering and metal creaking.
After recovering from the crash, the next thing Takahashi knew was that he suddenly saw himself upside down inside a flipped car, his vision swimming from the rough tumble and the daze from the concussion.
He snapped out of his state after seeing Okuji scream as he got dragged out of the car by that... thing.
In his panic, Takahashi takes the firearm of both unconscious ladies and reloaded them before popping out of the car only to see the creature tower over his friend's body before dropping him on the floor, hog tied with his own necktie.
The gunner aimed his guns at the black demon thing and exclaimed "You killed him!" with a horrified tone. However, despite his terror, one emotion powered through it: Hate.
The man shouts an agony-filled war cry as he unloaded his guns at the black creature and watched as it slinked into a nearby alleyway.
He runs back to his friends and check for their vitals, expecting the worst. A pulse check on the neck and Takahashi breathed in a deep sigh of relief. Thank goodness they're alive... He arrived just in time...
However, this wasn't the time to celebrate. That thing is still out there, and he and his group of Yakuza defectors would have something forever hunting them if he doesn't put a stop to it.
Furthermore, his pride would not have it. Whatever that humanoid thing was, it didn't get far yet. He then began running off after the creature and watched as it disappeared into the shadows of the docks.
With adrenaline running high and two submachine guns in hand, Takahashi scours the docks for the creature.
"Looking for me?" The creature speaks in its deep bass voice.
FrPAPAPAPAPAPAPAPAPAPAPA the Uzi goes as the former Yakuza member frantically fires and screams.
He aims where the voice was, only to hit nothing. He then hears the flapping of cloth off to the side to which he unloads another barrage of bullets at. Takahashi hears something whizzing through the air in front of him only to feel a stinging sensation on his hand as something small slams into his gun, disarming him.
He looks at the ground at what just hit his hand and exclaims in confusion as he just sees one of his guns there with a bat-shaped bastardization of a shuriken lodged into it's receiver. He then watches as the black demon thing descends from the cargo hull in front of him.
He narrowly dodges a stomp attack from what looked like a military boot. Now that he had a closer look at the creature, he realized it wasn't really a creature, but rather, a man. Due to the light from a nearby lamp post casting a shadow on his aggressor, he then realized it was merely a man in a matte black costume whose eyes are merely covered in white, slightly luminescent lenses.
To him, it looked ridiculous, stupid even.
With newfound confidence, Takahashi aims his remaining gun at the man and opens fire. However, instead of trying to run away like he had hoped, the man instead fired what looked to be a grappling hook gun to the side and used to run around him faster than he could adjust his gun's aim.
After feeling the cable hit his arm, he realizes that this man was trying to bind him with his grappling hook so he ducks down and rolls away before the man could make a full turn around him.
He looks up and cackles as he sees a straight shot at the man. He thinks to himself 'This is my win!' as he pulled . He then pulled his trigger and-
*clack* *clack*
He had only a brief moment to realize his folly before the costumed vigilante jumped him. He made a motion to pull his melee weapon but the man was quicker in knocking the air out of his lungs. He coughed as he laboriously breathed in pain.
Before he could recover and stand up, the man in the costume yanked him up by his collar and slammed into a wall, making him dizzy.
The man tied him up with some rope before throwing him in with the rest of his unconscious gang. He then saw the man aim his grappling hook at a building.
Before the man could leave, a question involuntarily escaped the lips of Takahashi: A quivering "W-who are you?"
The costumed man regarded his question and turned his head towards the Yakuza defector. Two words were spoken which would forever ring in the criminal's head. "I'm Batman." The Batman then fired his grapple gun off and swung away, seemingly flying with how his cape seem to turn into wings in the darkness.
Shortly after the cops arrived to a scene of the four captured criminals, the bank money and the destroyed getaway car all grouped up near the docks, tied and awaiting arresting. As they were being led to the police cars, the quieter of the female criminals, Sora, then asked the only member of their group that was conscious through it all, "Takahashi-kun, what happened? How did we-" to which the man merely cuts in with a reply filled with terror. "Batman."

Meanwhile, a few minutes later, somewhere else in the city, the masked vigilante could be seen running around the roof tops limberly. As he did, his comms turn on as an old man's voice then spoke. "Yes, who is this?"
The voice, despite clearly being that of a senior, held a sense of authority and discipline in it. The type one would hear in retired army officials or in this case, a Yakuza family head.
"Fujimaru Raiga, I've done as you asked. Where do I meet you?" the Batman asks in reply.
"I see." The old man mumbles as composes himself. "Meet me at the Ramen house near the edge of Fuyuki. I was just about to go there for a meal. You should join-". Batman then immediately cuts off connection before gliding down from a building.

Fifteen minutes later, in a ramen shop somewhere else, an old man with a tiger print haori sat alongside a teenage girl and two men, one wielding twin sai and the other a kama and katana.
As they waited for their ramen, the girl excuses herself for the bathroom. Shortly after, the three men hear what sounded like cloth abruptly fluttering in the wind before the sound of boots land onto pavement followed soon after. All three turn to the entrance of the shop and watch as a tall, imposing figure surrounded by a black cloak walks in.
Understandably ruffled by the appearance of the black-cloaked man, the two guards brought up their weapons and poised to strike should he make any sudden movement.
However, instead of engaging them, the Batman merely walked past them, their fear paralyzing them from trying anything. The Batman then walked over to the counter next to the old man and handed him photos of jail cell numbers and the detained defectors from earlier.
"You should keep a tighter leash on your men, Fujimura-san." said the Batman as he looked at the old man before leering at the two body guards who were scared sh**less.
Finally one of them then found the balls to bark out, "I-I'm warning you, stay away f-from our boss!" to which the elder Yakuza boss sighed before ordering him, "Stand down.".
The elder Fujimura nodded in satisfaction and said, "True, but then again, I'd be restricting the free will of the youth if I did it all the time." What met him was silence on the Batman's part. He then gave the Batman a studying look before saying "Come, you should eat." Again, only silence greets him.
"Please, I insist. It is on the house as you Americans say." the old man said while chuckling good-naturedly. Quietly, the Batman made his way over to one of the chairs in front of the counter and looked at the terrified chef before ordering, "1 tonkatsu bowl, 3 gyoza.".
The poor, terrified man briskly nods before running back in the kitchen to cook the meal the dark knight requested. For the next five minutes or so, everyone in the room waited in silence. Eventually, the old man tried to engage him in friendly banter to remove the awkward air around him. After the tenth minute, the old man sighs in resignation before remarking "You really don't talk much do you?" only to receive a neutral look from the Batman.
The meal arrived, and the Batman broke apart the two wooden chopsticks with a click.
He says, "Itadakimasu", as Japanese tradition dictates, in his ever deep voice and begins eating it in a somewhat mechanical manner, trying to finish the food as quick as he possibly and politely could. During the entire time, Raiga Fujimura couldn't help but stare at the enigmatic figure silently due to one fact which worried him greatly about this man.
This man is unreadable.
Let it be known that Raiga Fujimura was a man who is known to be a great judge of character having not once found a person he could not read. This man in front of him however, was an exception. Not only does the mask he put on make deciphering his emotions harder, but the flat way of talking and nearly mechanical movement wouldn't lend itself to his identity either. It's as if this man had trained his whole life to be unknowable.
'Just who are you under that mask, vigilante?' The old man silently mused.
The bathroom door suddenly swings open as the brown-haired girl from earlier walked out with a playful hum.
Somehow unaware of the Dark Knight's presence, she then greets Raiga with a "Yo, Gramps, what's goin' on? Why did you three suddenly go quiet? You guys are usually super chatty."
Raiga showed a brief moment of panic before saying, "Um... dear grand daughter," in apprehension before nervously coughing into his fist. The young brunette looked at her grampa weirdly before saying "You're being weird gramps. You usually call me by my first name unless we have a stranger with us. I mean isn't it just-".
She cuts herself as she listens closely nonchalant slurping behind her. Slightly miffed by the stranger's rude ignorance, despite it being customary in Japan to slurp as a sign of enjoying the chef's food, she angrily turns her head to say "Excuse you but we rented this place for the ni-" only to gawk at who the person was.
The Batman stood up saying, "I was just leaving." leaving the brown-haired girl stammering out "B-b-bat-ba..." while shoulders drooped in awe.
But as the Batman was about to make his way, the starry eyed youth then clamped down on his arm and said, "Wait! I'm a fan!".
Batman gave her a confused eye raise to which she said "I've never seen you personally until now, but I know how fly around at night and beat up all the bad guys." with fervor and praise to the confused vigilante.
She nervously tapped both fingers together as she suddenly meekly asked "B-before you leave... I have some questions... I-if you don't mind?".
Stoic silence was her only reply... Which she then interpreted as-
"Gee wiz! You're such a pal Batsy! My name is Taiga Fujimura, next in line to inherit the Fujimura clan title as head, but you can call me Taiga." The Batman flinches due to Joker's nickname flashing before him. He knew she meant to be friendly but still.
She was the type that was open and happy, and so naive that she has nothing to hide, all the things he is not. But what's more is that she is also the type he can't handle a conversation with without breaking character as the Batman.
She starts looking all around him, checking out all of his stuff. He then pokes his belt, saying, "Cool belt! Ooh what does this do? Oh and this? Ooh nice branding thing! Really selling the fact you're Batman." saying that last bit with a joking imitation of his "I'm Batman" thing. She moves on, saying "Is it true you suck blood? Are you really a vampire? Is this black stuff around you your skin or is it a suit? Can you fly? Do you burn in sunlight? Do you really only come out at night? Are you the devil? Coz you look like one."
In a brief moment of absolute confusion on how to go about the situation, the Batman's unbreakable facade actually wavers as he cluelessly trails off. "I... uh..."
Raiga laughs as he thought to himself 'Leave it to my granddaughter to pull something like this off.' He give another hearty chuckle before reigning his granddaughter. "Taiga, dear, you mustn't trouble our guest like that. It's unbecoming of an heiress such as yourself."
Realizing her blunder, she bows profusely in apology to the Batman, once again, catching the Batman off guard. She says "It's okay if you don't answer my other questions... but..." Raiga disapprovingly mutters her name, but Taiga continues on with renewed determination, "Batman sir, if I may ask just one question... How can I become a hero like you?".
This snaps the Batman guard as he genuinely frowns, saying "Trust me, you don't want this life. It's not as fun and enjoyable a life as you think. It's filled with torment and sacrifices much too big and life changing for someone with a future as bright as yours. The best you can do is lead your grandfather's group the best you can for the betterment of Fuyuki."
He quietly goes out of the door and turned left. Taiga made to catch after him, saying "Wait!", however all that greeted her was an empty alleyway.
Raiga goes to console her, saying "Listen, Taiga? Life doesn't always work out the way we-" to which Taiga confidently cuts in, saying "He believes in me." with a smug look. Raiga gives his dearest granddaughter a perplexed look.
"What do you-"
"It's just like those mangas classmate likes to talk about! He's going to be all broody and say 'Leave me alone. It's for your own good.' and I'm going to be all like 'Kyaa, senpai, wait!' and I'll go through a whole journey to becoming my own superhero and he will be all like 'I believed in you the whole time' and we will hug and-'" only to be cut off by her grandpa who said, "Woah, woah, woah, hold on. What are you say-" only to be counter cut off by Taiga saying "And they will call me Batgirl!.. Or Batwoman! Whichever works!".
Raiga couldn't help but chuckle at his granddaughter's rant. A smirk arrives at the old man's face as he says, "You know, with how our clan is known for our striped haoris, as well as your name, why don't you call yourself 'Tiger girl?'" only to receive weak punches from his granddaughter who whines, "BUT I DON'T WANT TO BE A TIGEEEEEER" crying anime tears while saying it.

A few minutes later, Batman arrives inside a cave filled with a lot of gadgetry. He touches the pole he uses to usually go up and down, and remembers it was still not functional. He then says "Right, different world. Not yet fully built...". He opts to glide down to the main area which was where the Batmobile and computer were at. Unlike his old bat cave, this new one wasn't quite as teched out just yet, but it will be if his stay here becomes prolonged.
As he walks inside, he turns the computer on and opens a folder named "Vigilante Logs" and opens it. He goes ahead and accesses the recorder app and uses it.
"Data log, Day #451-A since the Dimensional Displacement: I have apprehended the crime group calling themselves "Lucky Four" and informed their former boss, Raiga Fujimura about their current status. However, as contradicting as it is for the Batman to ally with a crime syndicate such as the Yakuza, I did not make this decision lightly. Months of research and investigation yielded to this decision after seeing how this particular 'family' seemed to have genuinely moved out of its more illegal jobs and have become an unofficial private army with the sole intention of the betterment of the city."
Batman ends the recording and then switches to a different folder named "Business Logs" and does what he did with the earlier recording app. He then pulled off his cape, revealing himself to be a blue eyed man in his late twenties with short, neat, black hair and pronounced facial bones. He speaks in a lighter tone without the forced graveliness he usually adds in to hide his identity.
"Data log, Day #451-B since Spatial Displacement:"
He then opens up a tab that showed a massive Excel sheet, a Bat-sheet if his naming conventions were anything to go by, which he then scans through. Shortly after, he then started speaking again as he says, "Looks like the reestablishment of Waynetech on this alternate world proved successful. With the introduction of the new model of smartphones, sales have gone up considerably. With how delayed this world is compared to my old one, the sales come to no surprise when technology that's supposed to be nearly a decade ahead of it's time."
The man rubs the back of his head in guilt as he says, "However... I may have accidentally messed up the timeline a bit. Andy Rubin, the guy who was meant to invent the Android device had just become my COO instead. Whoops.".
He coughs into his gloved fist before saying "Anyways...".
Before he could continue, a wheeled humanoid robot enters the scene, saying "Ah, Master Bruce, you have arrived. I wonder when you would come. I might've thrown out this chicken soup again." in a miffed synthesized voice of a young adult British woman.
Batman, or now known as Bruce Wayne, turns off the recording and says "Friede, I... sorry about that. It's just wo-" only to be cut off by the robot saying "Work, of course. The work of The Batman is never done after all." The robot walked on over to Bruce and, after placing the bowl of soup down on the table, placed its metallic clamp of a hand on Bruce's shoulder, saying "But remember, you're not only Batman, you are also still Bruce Wayne. Remember to take care of yourself alright?".
Bruce smiles before saying "You know Freide, you're getting really good at your Alfred words of wisdom." The robot then said "I aim to please master Bruce. However, if I may ask, why didn't you just program me with Sir Pennyworth's voice and personality instead? Wouldn't that be more beneficial to you?" Bruce then frowns as he says, "No, if I hear his voice too often, I'd let my guard down and forget that this is some alternate reality or timeline or... wherever this place is.".
Friede goes silent as if to frown at his words. It says, "You best be on your ways Master Bruce. You still have yet to return that map you borrowed from your next door neighbors, the Mackenzie's. It's already been a month since then or have you forgotten?"
Bruce looks up from his seat and mutters out, "Really? It's been that long already." He then waves it off for later, "In a bit Friede, I have one more log to make."
His countenance grew dark once more as he changed to yet another folder called "Detective Logs".
He starts recording there as wella. "Data Log, Day 451-C since Spatial Displacement, Operation: Bluptofer".
He then opened another file filled with a plethora of police reports, photographs, and evidences he took himself. He then said "It's been a couple weeks since I've started on this case, and two days ago I've found a way to narrow down this specific serial killer's possible targets.".
"The serial killer is involved in multiple mass murders all over Fuyuki and from what I can infer from the data, the modus operandi of this man is always the same. A family of at least four members, wherein the youngest is spared for last while the rest are gutted and drained of blood. The blood is then drawn into a sigil of sorts. Most likely some crazed ritual of sorts. Almost like... Blackfire..." Bruce's eyes narrowed into a glare as he stared at the dot he drew on the digital copy of the map he borrowed.
"I am coming for you... Uryuu Ryuunosuke....".
