Chapter 8- Netflix n' Sick

Woah! What the-? 400 reads?! Thank you so much! 😆 Onto the story!

Jay's POV

"Okay, I got one." Nya was chuckling like crazy after the last one. We bought some books with cheesy pick-up lines. Just to make fun of them. And they're so cringey.. "Did it hurt when you fell-" She tried to say, but I stopped her. "When you fell from heaven, I know.." I rolled my eyes, but she started giggling. "When you fell for me.." We both burst out laughing and I even fell from the couch..

"You could use that in your books, you know." I grinned, whipping away my fake tears of laughter. "Yeah, you're right, actually. I just have to publish it as soon as I finish it. If this day ever comes." She sighed, looking down.

"So, what are you gonna get for Seliel? The party is in just a few days, you know." I questioned her. She thought for a bit. "Well, this book could be really handy.." She chuckled. "But then again, a simple scarf would be just perfect." She said, pulling out a magenta scarf out of her bag. "I'm sure she'll love it." I gave her a smile, which she returned.

"So, what did you get her?" She wondered. I tried not to laugh as I pulled out a yellow bag. "What's in the bag?" She questioned me. I showed her what was inside it and we both started laughing.. Again.. "You bought her an ugly Christmas sweater?" She chuckled. "It's like a tradition in my places." I sassed.

"Oh, I just remembered," I started. "We'll have to meet each others' friends, right? This is going to be awkward.." I nervously laughed. "Don't worry. I'm sure she'll like you. Plus, it's just one. You probably know the entire party." She smiled and rolled her eyes. Well, it is true, I know pretty much everyone there, but knowing Sel, she probably invited the whole city.

Suddenly, we heard a loud buzz coming from Nya's laptop. "Oh, it's probably Kai. He and my parents call me once a month, because apparently I can't take care of myself." She rolled her eyes saying the last sentence. She pressed the button to start the video call, for us to see a boy, about my age,
with spikey brown hair looking bored as heck.

"Hey sis. I just wanted to check up on yo- who in the heck are you with?!" He shouted, the screen shaking up a bit. I squeaked and hid behind Nya. She just rolled her eyes -and maybe mentally face palmed- at her brother. "Kai, you know him. This is Jay. A friend." Nya reassured him. Kai chuckled a bit "Wait. You mean the Jay? Well, as long as he's as much of a coward as he was in kindergarten, I have nothing to fear. I hope." He slightly hissed the last sentence, while Nya gave him a death glare. Well, at least he remembers me. "Good to see you too, pony lover." I sarcastically got up and bowed at my old friend.

"So.. What's up? Why are you calling me instead of Skylor? Did something happen to mum and dad?" Nya asked him a bit worried. "Nah, I was just.. Bored, I guess. I guess you gotta wait for the good things to come." He winked. Nya rose her brow while I just sat there awkwardly, listening to the siblings' conversation. "So, how are your parents doing?" Kai turned his head towards me. "I haven't seen them since I went to get that old doll." He rolled his eyes, making Nya clench her heart playfully. "Hey! She's not just a doll! She's my only childhood friend!" She pouted. "No offence." She turned to me and chuckled. Wait. He gave her the doll?! Ugh! I'm going to have a word with myself later, for letting this happen.
"Oh, uh, they're doing well." I nodded.

After a long and I mean long conversation of advice, news and threats, we finally closed the video call, with Kai inviting me over at their parents' house to spend Christmas. I politely accepted -screaming on the inside about meeting Nya's parents-.

"So, what now.." I casually said. "Are you sure you're feeling alright? I mean, we could cancel our plans for the amusement park." She tapped my shoulder. Well, yeah, it was true that I had been feeling a bit sick lately, but that's not going to stop me from going on this hang out -that I'd much rather be a date- with Nya.
"Nope. I'm completely fine." I weakly grinned. To my surprise, Nya didn't believe any of that and placed her hand on my forehead.

"Okay.. You are burning up. Yeah, forget the amusement park. It can wait." She informed me, going to the kitchen to get a cold towel and a thermometer. "As I said, I completely fin-" I -tried to- reassure her, before her shoving the thermometer in my mouth. "Shush. No excuses." She semi-glared. "Whatever you say, mum." I mumbled. I mean, I'm not that sick.

We sat in silence for a bit until the thermometer started beeping. I grabbed it and saw it, trying to hide it away. That didn't work though, as she managed to take a peek before I could hide it. "And then you say you're fine." She raised her eyebrow. "Movie it is then!" Her tone went back to an excited one, as she turned on the TV.

"Ah, yes. Netflix. My old friend. Oh how much I've missed you..!" She dramatically exclaimed, scrolling through the movie options. While having a movie program as your friend might seem a bit weird, her getting excited over all the new movie releases was adorable.

We decided to watch a horror movie, since it's the one thing she's scared about. I mean, of all the things, creepy dolls and murderers are the things that break her? "Blanket?" She enquired, interrupting my thoughts. I nodded as she offered me one, along with hot chocolate. "How come it's not coffee?" I wondered. "It's the only thing keeping you alive at this point, so it seems weird to me that you didn't make some." I smirked, while she just raised her shoulders. "It's cold, I guess."

The movie was okay at first and turning off the lights really set a creepy atmosphere. Until it was all quiet. I knew that a jump scare was about to come, so I tried to force myself to daydream, but failed miserably. (Just like me XD)

Once the jump scare came we both screamed and tripped over our blankets, making us -almost- fall the ground. I luckily caught Nya before she could hit the floor, but then again, the position we were in was pretty uncomfortable. "Well, that was.. Fun" She giggled and turned off the movie. "Maybe I should go to bed. I'm pretty tired. You'll have to go anyways." I informed her. Before I could go, she grabbed my wrist as she turned her head around to face me with a confused look. "Hey, uh, could you stay here for a bit?" I lowered my head as she nodded. She sat down at the couch.

"What is it?" I asked her, still pretty confused. "Thanks. For everything." She awkwardly said, massaging her temples. "Well, it was just a movie. It's not like-"

"No, I mean, thank you for everything. You've really managed to cheer me up over the past few months and I'm really thankful for it. You made me see that not everything revolves around these stupid strings." She mentally rolled her eyes. "Thanks." She gave me a quick peck on the cheek. Our faces, -well, especially mine,- were so red I'm glad it was still dark.

"Well, um, see you tomorrow? If you're feeling better, that is." She awkwardly chuckled, heading towards my now semi-open door. "Yeah, uh, night." I stuttered. As soon as she left, I buried my face in my pillow, trying to process what just happened. I could still feel her light touch on my left cheek.

I'm such a stalker..

Okay! Done! I probably won't be able to update next week, but I'll try to write it down on paper so I can get it ready.

Also, I have another small question:

Would you like to see some stories with my own concepts, characters, etc.? I mean, I would of course make a Ninjago fanfic along with it, just in case people don't like it, but I've got two ideas.

The first one is with my own characters, my own world and plot basically, while the second one is a writing prompt I recentely found online.

"A guy with depression moves in an apartment with 7 spirits he can only see. The 7 deadly sins. But instead of haunting him, they help him get through depression."

I don't know, but I would love to turn this into a dark humour thingy.

Anyways,
C ya!
