Chapter 3- Teaching is hard..

Sorry for the delayed chapter! But now I'm back on track!

Jay's POV

You know, as much as I dislike being ignored, this will hopefully be worth it. I mean, everyone needs a friend, right? And I have helped kids so much for me to become an expert at helping others. Not to brag, but I've managed to make a list of a person's feelings and responses. There is no doubt I'm going to befriend her! I will make our strings continue!

"Uh.. Mr. Walker? Are you alright?" Trevor, a student of mine asked me, cutting off my daydream. I totally forgot I was in my classroom for a second. I looked up to see all the kids whispering and looking at me concerned. Trying to teach kids is hard. Especially math..

"Are you thinking about that lady? I saw you with her yesterday when I went shopping with my big bro." Miko (reference to a deleted book?!) teased. 'Dammit Miko..' I thought. All the kids started giggling and whispering even more now.

"I think it's time to stop. You don't want extra homework, do you?" I smirked. I felt my face heat up a bit, but tried to ignore it. All of them went silent as soon as I said that. They all say that teaching is a stressful job, but it really isn't. In fact, even the most boring lessons can become entertaining, with the right teacher.

"Okay so.. Maria, tell me, what is x+2=5?" I have to admit, I pick Maria a lot, because her grades aren't going really well. She has some family problems at home, as well as dyslexia. I try to tutor her as much as I can and I can already see improvement.

She thought for a bit and then answered. "3! Right? Please tell me I'm right!" I nodded. The happiest smile I had ever seen formed her lips as I heard her cheer for herself. Oh, dang it.. Five more minutes till class is over.. And then.. the ninth-graders. I am going to be their substitute for the day. I don't have a problem with ninth-graders, but, those scare me just a bit. I heard that their previous substitute ended up in the hospital, which is not the greatest fact to tell someone, let alone the new substitute..

"Okay, any questions?" They nodded their heads signaling 'no'. "Okay, we will not be able to continue Geometry just yet, but that doesn't mean you won't have Algebra homework." I said to which they groaned. I just gave them a few review exercises, since they were writing a test next week.

I was about to tell a joke to cheer them up, when the bell rang. They all ran out of the class, cheering and laughing. Is math that boring?

I just sighed and grabbed some papers out of my bag. They were the test sheets they told me to give the teenagers I'm going to be teaching. Over all, the rest of the day didn't go so well. Apparently, one of the students was Miko's older brother. That suddenly meant that he also saw me with Nya, which led to some 'naughty' jokes, as well as a rather uncomfortable conversation. Let's just say that I ended up having a somewhat ripped sweater, a couple kissing in the middle of class with the excuse of 'We just found out our strings are connected' and heck, somebody even brought a dog to class! Man, I hate teenagers..

I mean, the only thing that could cheer me up today, was our video game night with Cole, or maybe a meeting with Zane. So, we decided to do both. We met up at a bar near our city's local park, hoping to find a place where they don't know us. Let's just say we've done some crazy things in the past..

But of course, we just had to stop by the bakery first. Anyway, we went into an old bar, which didn't look very family-friendly to us. The people there looked kind of creepy. Like those large motorbike dudes you see in the movies.

"So.. how was your day today..? Cause mine was awful.." I asked. I remember asking the same question every day, whether it's on the phone, or in person. "Well, the past few days have been quite tiring for me and Pixal. We don't really get to spend much time together since we've been interviewing people every day." Zane informed us. Ever since him and Pixal found their connected strings, these two have been impossible to tear apart. Well, until now. The Borg Company has been running out of employees and is currently looking to hire some. However, the requirements are very high, so it isn't an easy task.

"Oh yeah! I totally forgot about those! What about them? Did you find anyone?" Cole asked him, kind of desperate to know. He has been looking for a job lately, so he tries to do his best. "Suddenly, no. But Pix might have found one. I think her name was.. Mia? No, it was Nya. She doesn't have a lot of experience, but it seems like she is quite desperate for this job. Pix was also impressed about her knowledge. She passed almost every requirement." Zane answered back, kind of happy for his girlfriend. Though I could tell it was mostly because now that the interview is over, they could finally spend time together. We just nodded as I was internally screaming for my luck.

"Zane? Mind if you give me a tour the day after tomorrow?" I asked, no, I pleaded. If she were to start out working there, it would probably be then. He just nodded, leaving Cole confused of my sudden request.

"Cole, look who is here~!" I teased. Cole turned around and his eyes widened. He saw Seliel Dawn
entering the bar. I really, really want to introduce him to her, so that their strings could finally be revealed. You see, you need to actually talk to the person you know are your soul mate, in order for your string to appear for both of you.

"And now, let us pick the next singer!" Dareth, the owner of this bar as I heard, announced. Suddenly, a beaming light lit up above Cole. He was chosen to sing. I tried not to laugh so hard at this. Zane was cringing a bit, but tried to remain serious.
He tried to refuse, but the crowd pushed him up on stage, leaving him standing awkwardly there. The song that was randomly chosen for him was a kids song, which I didn't really recognize. Then, the singing..

~Shiny lil' glow worm~
~glimmer, glimmer~

I was laughing so hard I couldn't even breathe. Zane was patting my back for me not to die. But the funniest thing of them all was Seliel giggling while his face was pure red.

After hours of laughing, I decided to go back home. I tried to text Nya, with no result. She must have fallen asleep again. I went back to re-read her comic book and novel version of 'Spinjago: Masters of Ninjitsu' for the third time. Today was a long day. And so will be the next one..
