Justin
"Justin, I gotta talk to you." Those were the words that would change the rest of my life. Two days ago, at about 11:42 am, I was told that I was going to be a father. I was going to be someone's dad.
At first, well at first, I thought maybe it could have been a joke;a prank. Lauren loved to prank people, but I don't think I've ever seen Lauren so serious in my life. She then sat closer to me and looked down at my hand. She held it then looked my in my eyes then smiled. "We're gonna be parents." My smile was from ear to ear. I couldn't really comprehend the happiness and excitement because it was almost to much. I've never been so happy. I picked her up and spun her around, hugging her. "I can't believe I'm gonna be a dad!" Her contagious laugh filled the room. "Tell me about it, stud."
It was moments like this, really big happy moments that would last forever and stay burning in my heart forever. It was in a way peaceful;like nothing could break this overwhelming sense of happiness. It was here to stay.
"My daughter is gonna be so beautiful and so happy. I can't wait to spoil her rotten!"
"Your daughter?" Lauren turns around laughing. She scoffed.
"No, I can't wait to spoil my son."
My eyes widen in realization of what was happening. It's a battle of the sexes. I wanted a daughter and Lauren wanted a son. I guess we'll have to wait it out.
"Look, whatever we have, we will look them to infinity and beyond." I say going up to her, wrapping my arms around her tiny waist. I snuggled my head in her neck.
"Your right." She giggles. "I can't wait to start buying stuff for our child." I nod. Then I started to think out loud.
"Damn, we are gonna one good looking child." Lauren laughs out loud.
"You're damn right."
