Without wings?

Robbed of breath, I moved my gaze from the small flying islands in the distance back to Yeonjun, who wrapped his arm around my shoulders. Pink irises twinkled above his smirking lips.

After that, when my eyes slid down to the woods and sea below our Magic Island, I noticed the wound on the back of his hand... and that made me wonder again: "Won't they fall like that?"

"Not if they don't think about it," Yeonjun chuckled and patted my shoulder blade.

...

What if I could finally fly with you...?

...

What if we could finally fly together, Hyuka...?

Since the moment Yeonjun told me about the flying boys, this thought wouldn't leave my mind. On the contrary, it was getting louder and more exciting... downright tempting. While others' eyes were lost in dreams or the stars above the treetops, as we tried to peacefully rest on a mossy clearing covered by a silent night... my head was lost in dreamy clouds and the golden starlight hidden in Huening Kai's eyes.

Every time he noticed my stare, he gave me a gentle smile, leaving me a little bit flustered, as if he had partly revealed some little secret of mine.

"Pst..."

Maybe that was why I winced and sat up, when I suddenly heard some subtle playful hiss.

I glimpsed from Hyuka lying on Beomgyu's thigh... to Soobin quietly sleeping by my other side, before my eyes finally landed on Yeonjun, who was sitting on his heels a few steps behind me.

"Don't worry, it's just me," he whispered to me with a soft chuckle and I slowly crawled a little closer to him.

"Your mind is wandering in the clouds, isn't it?" That was obviously just a poetic question. It made me look away into the darkness. Yeonjun was right - time doesn't matter in Neverlands, the sun goes to sleep whenever it wants.

"Don't ask when you already know the answer," I sighed with a barely recognizable smile, knowing he would feel its faint warmth anyway. Then I accidentally noticed a couple of wreaths knitted of fluffy pale flowers, lying down between my palms and Yeonjun's bare knees.

"What are these for?"

"In my hands... they are grant wishes," mysteriously replied the fairy of shooting star, before he decided to tell me more about these handmade gifts, "they are crowns from dying dandelions... one for each of us." He chuckled again and tucked a strand of fading pink hair behind his ear. By this point, we all noticed how he was losing his natural color... but no one wanted to talk about it, not yet.

"Their seeds are full of pixie dust and once they are blown away, the dust that falls on you can make you fly around with wind as lightly as if you were one of those tiny seeds with a parachute."

The fire fairy waved his fingers in the ether, shooting tiny sparks from their tips.

Sympathy for the idea soon brought a giggle out of my mouth and I took one of the wreaths in my hands.

"Doesn't that sound fantastic, baby?" Yeonjun seemed as excited as I felt all over my body. As if he purely shared my genuine happiness with me.

"Mhm... It does," I replied him simply, just to let him know I was still trying to listen, while I raised the crown to the height of my eyes, so I could observe its details carefully.

"Let's not use it yet though," Yeonjun's chuckle got suddenly a little bit awkward, because he decided to take away from me something I seemed to like a lot.

"I'm sorry," he apologized for making me confused, then grabbed my emptied hands gently. "I want to give it to y'all at once... secretly. I was just impatient and wanted to show you right away..."

"You really like to spill your ideas to me, don't you?" I smirked sourly, but I was still pleased inside that he always wanted to share the beauty with me first.

Actually, it was all somehow enchanting... Kai, Beomgyu and Soobin were resting only a short distance away from us, but we were still childishly having fun, as if the darkness itself would preserve the excitement of Yeonjun's plan.

"Not gonna lie, I just know you'll love their magic and this one could literally make your dream come true. I can't wait to see those sparks in your eyes." He clasped my hands enthusiastically, intertwining our fingers.

Despite all of those demons, your soul remains so pure...

My heart pounded as if falling in love for the millionth time.

"I really admire you, Yeonjun..."

His gaze softened... blinking slowed down in surprise, as he wasn't used to me verbally showing him my affection. Mostly I only opened up like that to Kai. "Hum?"

Before he lovingly stroked the back of my hand with his thumb, I walked even closer to him and straddled on his thigh.

"Just kiss me..."

"I-"

"It's fine. Go ahead..."

The fire fairy smirked and touched my chin with his warm fingers: "Gosh, you're always so straightforward, Tyun... It's kinda cute."

Stop it, before I run away... I thought, as my cheeks burnt under the direct gaze into his shining eyes.

And so he pulled me into a kiss, removing all the rest of the worries with a pure joy, manifested in the glowing symphony played between our lips. Because with cleansing melodies of Magic Island... we finally felt so carefree it made me forget everything but him...

Don't ever forget me, Yeonjun...

With his name sung by my voice... and forgetful dandelions crowning our heads...

The eager wings submerged us into our sweetest deep desires.
