It was now time for the Carnival of Lights, and Megan and Michelle were head to toe in glow bracelets, necklaces, etc, but it was too bad that it would be all for nothing.
"Good news, we're going to the opera!" Mr. Harrington announces, making everyone pissed off, including Megan. "You've gotta be fucking kidding me."
"Jackson, language!" He yells. "God, if I had a dollar-"
"Don't look at me." Mr. Dell raises his hands in innocence. "I had nothing to do with this."
"What happened to the carnival?" Betty asks, which she was pretty much asking the same question everyone else had.
"This is upgraded living, guys." Upgraded living? Please. This wasn't satisfying for the students at all. "Come on, the tour company just gave us these tickets for free! Do you have any idea how much opera tickets cost?"
Ned looks over at Peter, wondering if this whole opera thing was his doing, and Peter nodded furiously trying to tell him that this was all part of the plan. Megan notices this then looks at the both of them, dying to know what the hell was going on.
"No!" Flash whines, which was shockingly understandable. "None of us have ever wanted to go to the opera. Ever!"
"Um, well I think this is going to be culturally enriching for us!" Ned lies for the sake of Peter.
"Culturally enriching my ass." Megan rolls her eyes, which didn't make Mr. Harrington happy. "One more curse word out of you and you're not going to the opera!"
"Good!" She yells. "Who wants to go to an opera?"
"Roger, she's kinda right-"
"Shh, I know she is." He whispered to Mr. Dell. "She's just very scary and I don't know how to deal with her."
"Everyone can hear you." Megan says.
"No they can't." He brushes it off and changes the subject. "Anyway, this is going to be the best four hours of our trip!"
"Four hours?" Everyone but Peter and Ned say at the same time.
"Guys, I think this is going to be fun! Seriously!" Ned lies again, then everyone gives him a look.

They were now on their way to the opera, everyone practically dragging their feet since they didn't want to go at all. They'd much rather be at the carnival right now.
"So literally anyone can single handedly knock me the fuck out right now." Megan says with the most dissatisfied look on her face.
"That's a mood." Michelle laughs. "But I need you so I can survive these four hours of torture."
While the two girls were walking, Peter was walking behind them, and then Brad was behind Peter, eyeing him. He knew Peter must've done something to delete that photo.
"I bet you're all happy that I told you guys to pack a nice outfit!" Mr. Harrington's says oddly excited. Why would anyone be willingly excited for four hours of hell?
"Yeah, because we'd much rather go to a four hour opera instead of the biggest party in the world!" Flash sasses his teacher.
The rest of the way to the opera house was painful on mostly everyone's feet, especially those who wore heels. Megan opted for sneakers tonight, unlike most of the other girls. Ever since she had to run in heels at homecoming sophomore year, Megan claimed she would never wear a pair of what she called a "torture device" ever again.
They arrived at the opera house, and it was practically empty accept for a few older couples. They were adorable no doubt, but it was insane that they'd much rather be there. "Okay, here we are. Looks like we beat the rush."
"Yeah, the rush hour." Mr. Dell jokes, then goes to the front of the line, showing everyone their seats.
"Hey." Brad whisper yells to Michelle, who quickly turns around hoping it was good. "I'll save you a seat."
Michelle puts on a forced smile as a response, then she turns to Megan and notices Peter behind her. "You gotta help me."
"Why?" Megan questioned. She just witnessed Brad willing to save Michelle a seat, but she wasn't aware of the short lived blackmailing situation.
"I don't want-" Michelle then thinks for a second. If she left right now, this would be the perfect opportunity for Peter to talk to Megan. So, she decided to take one for the team. "never mind."
"Where are you-" Michelle walks away and unwillingly sits with Brad all for the sake of Peter and Megan.
"Hey." Peter walks up to Megan, making her jump little. There was no turning back now, so she said hello as well. "Oh, hey."
"You look really pretty tonight." He compliments her, trying his best to salvage whatever is of them.
"And I don't any other time?" Megan raises an eyebrow.
"No, no, I didn't mean-"
"I'm messing with you, Parker." She laughs. "Thank you." Peter takes a sigh of relief, thanking god that he didn't mess this up.
"You look pretty too." Megan says and puts on a smile to hide her internal screaming after saying that. As much as she didn't want to let him in again, it was hard. The boy right in front of her still had her heart and she wished he never did.
"Thank you." Now Peter wasn't sure why he accepted the compliment because it clearly seemed like those weren't the words she meant to say. Like it was just word vomit.
"Oh my god! Opera glasses!" Betty says in awe of the small spectacles.
"So cute!" Yes, everyone was well aware of how cute Ned and Betty were together, but the focus right now is Peter and Megan. The couple everyone was rooting for.
Megan stood awkwardly in a red and white dress with white converse, and when she thought about it she somewhat regretted her outfit. Did she look too casual? Should she have ditched the high pony? Maybe she was just overreacting, or it was the fact that Peter was right there.
"Wanna go in on a pair?" Megan asked Peter abruptly. What the fuck am I doing?
"You mean sit next to each other?" Peter questioned, kind of sounding stupid. I'm so dumb, oh my god-
"Um, duh." She sassed like her usual self. "Sorry, I sounded rude-"
"Parker, are you in position?" Nick Fury asked in Peter's earpiece. What a way to ruin the moment.
"No." He says out loud, which was supposed to be for Nick and definitely not Megan.
"No what?" She questioned. Megan was getting suspicious that he was up to something, which wasn't as much of a surprise. "No I wasn't sounding rude or-"
"No, you weren't sounding rude." Peter smiles at her to make whatever the situation was better. "I'll meet you there in a sec."
"Okay. Um, I'll save you a seat cause there's tons of seats, so yeah." She smiles back awkwardly and goes to sit down.
Despite all somewhat going well, Peter had no choice but to leave, and he didn't want to let Megan down again. He did it almost effortlessly, even if he didn't mean to. But Peter had a mission to do, and he knew he had to make sacrifices, despite Megan's views on his superhero life taking over his normal life.
Peter caught up with Ned and quickly tapped on his shoulder. "Hey, I gotta go. Can you tell Meg I got sick or something?"
"Come on, you're so close!" Ned exclaims. Peter was actually getting somewhere, and it all had to be ruined so quickly. "I know but I have to."
"Okay." He sighs. "Be careful."
"Yeah, Ned. I know. Gotta go." As Peter begins to run out of the opera house, he gets one last look at Megan before leaving. He wanted so desperately to spend time with her and have things back to what they were, and she wished the same (even though she didn't want to admit it for the millionth time).
"He left, didn't he?" Things were actually getting somewhere, and Spider-Man was always there to fuck it up at the worst timing. Megan had yet to understand.
"I think so." Michelle frowned. "Do you know where he went?"
"Who knows?" She sighed. "I feel like he went off to do you know what."
"Ugh, of course." Michelle groans. "I really wanted Pegan to thrive again."
"Pegan?" Megan asked confused.
"That's your ship name!" She says. "Everyone here ships it."
Megan looks over to Ned, since this sounded like something he would say. "Was this your doing?"
"What?" Ned shrugged. "We all ship it."
As the curtains rise and the orchestra plays, Brad stands up, turns around, and gives Peter the middle finger. It was quite funny to him actually. He didn't imagine Brad to be so salty.
Megan sat in her seat for a moment and quickly contemplated whether she should get up and leave, and that contemplating ended very quickly. "You know what? I'm following him."
"What? Why?" Michelle whisper yells.
"Don't question me! Plus I'm kind of doing you a favor here." She whispers back, referring to Brad sitting next to her.
"But-"
Megan gets out of her seat and runs out of the opera house without any teacher noticing her. She would hope that she would catch up to Peter, but he was probably way too far now.
Michelle knew that Megan would get herself into some sort of trouble, so why not get into trouble too?
"I hate to leave you like this Brad," Michelle lied. She was more than happy to ditch him. "but I gotta go after my best friend. Chicks over dicks, I guess."
"Wait-"
"And no I'm not a lesbian." She sassed him. "But I am a raging bi."
After that, Michelle runs out as well, and Betty notices how they both left the same way. "Where do you think they're going? Do you think they're going to the carnival? We should go too."
"No, no-"
Betty stands up and grabs Ned's hand, dragging him with her. "Come on, babe!"
"Lord save us all."
