11, DISTRACTION

Taehyung sighed, finally sitting down for his lunch break. The stress of the day was still buzzing in his head, but at least he had a moment to himself. Just as he reached for his phone, a message notification from Jk appeared on the screen—sent two hours ago. His heart skipped a beat. He was about to open it when a familiar voice interrupted.

"Hey, Tae!" Park Jihyun plopped down next to him, his tray clattering onto the table. "Crazy morning, huh?"

Taehyung forced a smile, trying to push down the frustration. "Yeah, something like that." He glanced at his phone again, fingers itching to check Jk's message.

"But you know," Jihyun continued, oblivious, "the weather patterns today are insane. Did you feel that turbulence earlier? I swear, it’s like the plane wanted to do a dance mid-air."

Taehyung nodded absently, his attention still half on the phone screen. "Yeah, it was... something."

"And then, there’s this new protocol they’re talking about introducing. More paperwork, more stress. I mean, who has the time?"

Taehyung barely registered Jihyun's words. His mind was elsewhere, stuck on the message he still hadn't read. He wondered what Jeongguk had said, but every time he tried to focus, Jihyun's voice dragged him back.

"So, what do you think? About the new procedures?" Jihyun asked, finally pausing for a response.

Taehyung blinked, realizing he hadn't been listening.

"Uh, yeah, sounds... intense," he muttered, glancing down at his phone one more time, the unread message icon taunting him.

But Jihyun wasn’t done. He started talking about something else—something about their next flights, or maybe the new coffee in the break room, Taehyung wasn't sure. All he knew was that the longer Jihyun talked, the more restless he became, the anticipation gnawing at him.

Taehyung trudged down the hallway, his footsteps heavy as he made his way toward the plane for another flight. The weight of his regret clung to him like a second skin, his mind replaying the moment he let the opportunity to message Jeongguk slip by.

He shoved his headset on, drowning out the surrounding noise, but it did nothing to quiet the thoughts spinning in his head. “Damn it,” he muttered under his breath, hands buried in his pockets as he walked.

"Why didn't I just reply?" he groaned to himself, feeling the sharp sting of regret. The thought of Jeongguk waiting for a response, or worse, thinking Taehyung was ignoring him, gnawed at his insides.

As he reached the plane, the weight of his mistake only deepened. He glanced down at his phone, the screen blank, mocking him. A deep sigh escaped him as he realized he’d have to spend another flight buried in his thoughts, haunted by the fact that he didn’t hit 'send' when he had the chance.

"Too late now." he muttered, forcing himself to focus on the task at hand, but the regret lingered like a shadow, refusing to let him go.

Taehyung slumped back in the cab, the city lights flickering by as he stared out the window, lost in his own thoughts. His phone buzzed in his pocket, pulling him from his haze. He sighed, and when he checked, it was Erin calling. He groaned, swiping to answer.

"Hey, Erin. You okay?" His voice was laced with worry, already on edge from the day.

"Yeah, Tae, I’m fine. Just feeling a bit under the weather, you know?" Erin’s voice was soft, tired, making him frown.

"You didn’t come in today. Got me worried," he admitted, running a hand through his hair, his frustration creeping in.

"It’s been a rough day, and now you’re telling me you’re sick?" He huffed, the tension in his chest tightening.

"I’m sorry, Tae. I’ll be back tomorrow," she reassured him, but it did little to ease the knot in his stomach.

"Just take care of yourself, okay? I’ll check on you later." he replied, trying to keep his voice steady, but the mix of concern for Erin and his unresolved feelings about Jk left him tense.

After they hung up, Taehyung rubbed his eyes, his exhaustion catching up with him. He glanced at Jk’s message again, his thumb hovering over the screen. "Just reply," he whispered to himself, but his tired mind and body protested.

"Later." he mumbled, slipping his phone back into his pocket, guilt gnawing at him. The cab continued its slow crawl through the streets, but all Taehyung could think about was the message he still hadn’t sent.

Taehyung stumbled into his apartment, dragging his tired body straight to the bathroom. He barely had the energy to think, but his mind kept nagging him about Jk’s message. As he peeled off his shirt, he caught his reflection in the mirror—no crazy abs, but he was solid, toned enough to feel good about himself.

"Damn, you look a mess," he mumbled, rubbing his hand over his chest as he tossed his shirt on the floor.

He stepped out of his pants, kicking them aside, followed by his briefs. Now fully naked, letting the cool air kiss his skin. hH turned on the shower, waiting for the water to heat up. He glanced back at his phone, sitting on the counter. The thought of not replying to Jk had been eating at him all day.

"What’s wrong with you, Tae?" he muttered to himself, stepping into the shower. The hot water hit his skin, and he sighed, letting it wash over him. He tilted his head back, closing his eyes as the water flowed down his body, soothing his tired muscles.

The water cascaded over his body, running down his toned back, his firm thighs and we'll built cock.

But his brain? Still going a mile a minute.

"Why the hell am I so caught up on this guy? He’s just some online dude. Chill out," he said, running his hands through his wet hair, the water trickling down his neck and over his chest. But every time he tried to push Jk out of his mind, the thought of that message pulled him right back in.

He shook his head, trying to focus on the warmth of the shower, but it was no use. His thoughts were stuck on Jk, replaying that notification in his mind over and over again.

"Not even my ex got me this twisted up. What’s your deal, Jk?" he whispered, frustration creeping into his voice as he shut off the water.

Stepping out, he grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist, the cool air hitting his damp skin. He padded into his bedroom, the towel hanging low on his hips as he collapsed onto the bed, water droplets still clinging to his body.

'Fuck it," he muttered, reaching for his phone. His fingers hovered over the screen for a second before he finally typed out a reply, his heart racing a little faster than he wanted to admit. He hit send, then tossed his phone aside, letting out a long breath.

"Okay, you did it. Now just chill." he told himself, but the smile tugging at the corner of his lips said otherwise.

Jeongguk sat in the hospital waiting room, tapping his foot against the cold tile floor. His phone buzzed in his hand, but he ignored it for a second, trying to focus on the clipboard in front of him. The nurse had asked him to fill out some paperwork, but his mind was elsewhere.

"Get it together, gguk," he mumbled under his breath, scribbling down something that probably didn’t even make sense.

He couldn’t stop thinking about V’s message. That damn notification kept flashing in his head, like a neon sign he couldn’t ignore. He dropped the pen, running a hand through his hair, messing it up even more.

"Shit," he sighed, finally giving in and unlocking his phone.

There it was, the message he’d been avoiding. But instead of calming him down, reading it only made his mind race faster. He didn’t even realize the nurse was calling his name until she said it a third time.

"Jeongguk! You okay there?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Uh, yeah, yeah, sorry," he muttered, stuffing his phone back in his pocket like it was on fire.

He followed the nurse down the hall, but his head was still back with that message. Even as she tried to explain what was going on, he could barely focus. His thoughts kept drifting back to V, wondering why the hell this guy had such a hold on him. He wasn’t even paying attention when the nurse led him into a room and asked him to wait.

He sat on the exam table, bouncing his leg up and down, eyes fixed on the door but mind completely elsewhere. His phone buzzed again, and he couldn’t help himself—he pulled it out, half-hoping it was V, half-dreading it. But it was just another hospital notification.

"Focus, gguk," he whispered to himself, gripping the phone tighter. "You’re here for Shezam, not… him."

But no matter how much he tried to remind himself, the distraction was there, lingering like a bad habit he couldn’t shake. He leaned back against the wall, staring at the ceiling, but all he could see was that damn message, and all he could feel was the frustration gnawing at his chest.

Jeongguk sat there, feeling the weight of his phone in his pocket like it was a ticking bomb. Since morning, he’d been trying to push V’s messages out of his head, but damn, it was hard. Too hard. He ran a hand down his face, frustrated as hell.

"Why the fuck am I so stuck on this?" he muttered under his breath, leaning back in his chair.

He’d spent his whole life dodging distractions, keeping his head down, not letting anyone get too close. And now here he was, all twisted up over some guy he barely knew. It didn’t make sense, but he couldn’t shake it. Every time he told himself to let it go, his mind would snap right back to that notification, just sitting there, waiting.

"Get it together, Guk," he groaned, but his hand was already reaching for his phone, his resolve crumbling. "Just... one reply. That’s it."

But even as he said it, he knew it was bullshit. He wasn’t just replying to some random guy. V had gotten under his skin, and Jeongguk hated how much he liked it.

-Heyy sry for this delayyy!
Hyd?

^m in my hospital, jotting down the notes!

Suddenly his phone buzzed in his hand, the screen lighting up with Shezam’s name. He answered it, trying to keep his mind from drifting, but it was a losing battle. Shezam started talking, and their conversation quickly turned into something heated, spicy enough to get Jeongguk’s heart racing.

Jeongguk answered the call, Shezam’s voice already low and teasing on the other end.

"Missed you, baby. Been thinking ‘bout what I wanna do to you all day," Shezam breathed out, his words dripping with that heated edge that always got Jeongguk going.

Jeongguk smirked, leaning back, letting his free hand trail down his own chest. "Oh yeah? You missed me, huh?" he rasped, his voice dropping as he played along, his mind split between the conversation and the persistent thought of V.

"Tell me how much."

"So fucking much," Shezam’s voice was practically a moan, and Jeongguk could imagine him blushing, biting his lip on the other side of the line. "Can’t stop thinking about last night… The way you had me, gguk. I want more."

Jeongguk swallowed hard, feeling the heat of the moment, but his thoughts kept straying. He tried to focus, tried to get lost in Shezam’s words, but V’s messages kept flashing in the back of his mind, taunting him.

"I know you want more, baby," Jeongguk growled, trying to ground himself in the call. He let his hand slip lower, his breath hitching as he continued, "I want you too. Wanna make you scream my name again."

But just as things started to get really hot, that familiar ding echoed in his ear—V.

Another message.

His heart skipped, the heat between him and Shezam suddenly cooled by the distraction. He glanced at his screen, seeing V’s name light up, and something inside him twisted.

"Fuck… not now," he muttered under his breath, torn between the two.

"What was that?" Shezam asked, his voice still heavy with desire, but Jeongguk was already slipping.

"Uh… nothing," Jeongguk lied, but his mind was elsewhere. His grip on the phone tightened, and before he could stop himself, his thumb was hovering over V’s message, dying to see what it was.

Shezam’s voice pulled him back, but only slightly. "Daddy… tell me you want me," Shezam practically begged, and Jeongguk could feel the heat again, but it was different now—fading, as V’s presence loomed larger in his mind.

"I… I gotta go," Jeongguk stammered, the tension of the moment snapped by the need to see V’s message. "Something just came up, I’ll call you later."

"Wait, what? Right now?" Shezam’s confusion was clear, but Jeongguk was already too far gone, his thoughts consumed by V.

"Yeah, I’ll hit you up later, bye." He said quickly, ending the call without waiting for a response.

He exhaled deeply, the guilt gnawing at him, but it wasn’t enough to stop him. He needed to know what V had sent, needed to feel that rush again.

"Damn it, V… why can’t I shake you?"

Jeongguk muttered to himself, finally opening the message with shaking hands, knowing this obsession was spiraling out of control.

Jeongguk stared at V's message for what felt like forever, his heart racing in his chest. It had been a while since they really talked, but the moment he opened the chat, that familiar rush hit him.

[@Vantae30_u]
Hey, u up?

Jeongguk smirked, the tension from earlier melting away as he quickly typed back.

[@Jk_moon_1997]
Always, what’s good?

V’s response was almost immediate, the back-and-forth easy, like they hadn’t missed a beat.

[@Vantae30_u]
Just finished work. Thought I’d see
if u were still alive. XD

Jeongguk chuckled, feeling a weird sort of satisfaction bubble up. It was like all the stress and distractions didn’t matter when he was talking to V.

[@Jk_moon_1997]
Barely, but I’m here.
What about u?
Don’t u ever sleep?

[@Vantae30_u]
Sleep is overrated.
Besides, talking to u is more fun.

Jeongguk grinned, the words making him feel something he hadn’t expected—a kind of warmth, a buzz that wasn’t just physical.

[@Jk_moon_1997]
uk how to make a guy feel special
:^

[@Vantae30_u]
I’ve got my ways. :3

The conversation flowed, teasing, flirting, with a comfort that neither had really acknowledged until now. Jeongguk found himself relaxing, his earlier tension completely gone. The hours slipped by without either of them noticing.

[@Vantae30_u]
Man, it’s been forever since
we’ve talked like this. Missed it. <3

Jeongguk’s fingers hovered over the keys for a moment before he typed, feeling that same tug in his chest.

[@Jk_moon_1997]
Yeah, me too. Feels good.

There was a pause, just long enough to make him wonder what V was thinking. When the next message came through, it made Jeongguk’s heart skip a beat.

[@Vantae30_u]
Maybe we shouldn’t
wait so long next time. ;)

Jeongguk bit his lip, his mind already racing with possibilities, but he kept it cool.

[@Jk_moon_1997]
Deal. No more silence :]

They kept chatting, the hours ticking away as they ignored their time zones, the pull between them stronger than either wanted to admit. It wasn’t just a conversation—it was a connection, something real and raw that neither could shake off.

As the shoes clashes against the marble floor started to rise on Jeongguk’s side, he knew he should both going, but there was no way he was letting go of this moment. Not now.

[@Vantae30_u]
Guess we both should
get some sleep, huh? :0

[@Jk_moon_1997]
Yeah…
but I don’t really want to :(

[@Vantae30_u]
Same. But we’ll talk
again soon, right?

[@Jk_mon_1997]
Count on it.

As they finally said their goodbyes, Jeongguk lay back, a satisfied smile on his face. The conversation had left him feeling more alive than he had in a while, and for once, he wasn’t thinking about anyone else but V.

Jeongguk was still leaning on chair, a lazy grin on his face after the chat with V, when his phone buzzed again. He glanced at the screen, expecting another message from V, but his expression shifted when he saw Shezam's name pop up.

Shezam: “Hey babe, guess what? I got a holiday from the company next week! We can finally have some real time together!🥹🦋🤌🏽 ”

Shezam: “sorry to not inform u on the call 😭😫

Jeongguk blinked, a mix of emotions hitting him all at once. He wasn’t sure why, but instead of excitement, there was a twinge of something else. Confusion? Doubt? He shook his head, trying to push those thoughts away.

Jeongguk: “That’s awesome! We can do whatever u want, just us.🫠🫶🏻💜”

Jeongguk:- “^ hey don't be sry, it's okayyy!”

He typed it out, forcing a smile as he sent the message. But even as he did, his mind kept drifting back to V. The conversation they’d just had, the connection he felt—it was messing with his head. He wasn’t supposed to be thinking about anyone else, especially not when he had Shezam right here, wanting to spend more time with him.

But he quickly shoved those thoughts aside. This was Shezam, his boyfriend, the guy who had been with him through thick and thin. If anything, this holiday was a chance to strengthen what they had. He wasn’t about to let his mind wander to some online fantasy.

"This is perfect. We’ll make it the best holiday ever. I’ll prove to myself that this is more than just friendship, that I’m all in."

As he said the statement, Jeongguk tried to convince himself that this was what he wanted. He needed to focus on Shezam, to pour all his energy into their relationship. Maybe then, he’d stop thinking about V and the confusing feelings that came with it.

But even as he made those promises to himself, there was a part of him that couldn’t help but wonder—was he really convincing himself? Or was he just trying to drown out the doubts? Either way, he was determined to make this holiday with Shezam work. It had to work.

(a/n:- HEYYY!  SEE U IN THE NEXT 😘 )
