You're Not Alone

She turned to the white sheeted bed, and tried not to cry. Her heart ached and she couldn't find her way back into the warm feeling that she felt before.

She could see why it happened, from a logical standpoint, she could see why.

The failed attempts of surgery, the lack of care, and the failure of noticing the pain he was in.

Her heart was crumbling and she couldn't stand properly. She sat down at the nearest chair and covered her strangled sobs that threatened to escape her lips.

She couldn't breathe, her lungs burned like fire and she couldn't breathe.

Her eyes stung with unshed tears and she couldn't breathe. The bed was recently made, she could tell from the slight indention on the pale bed. She let out a strangled sob, before tears slid down her cheeks.

Each memory flashing before her eyes.

His bright smile, the blue hues of his eyes. His beautiful low voice as he sang, his long callused fingers picking the strings of the old acoustic guitar.

His voice. Like a low tenor as his lips curved into a small smile at the bright shine in her eyes as she sang along.

The stolen glances, the secret shared smiles, she missed it. She missed him most of all.

She couldn't breathe. She remembered the way his hand fit in hers, strong, reassuring, and warm. It didn't have to be soft. To her, his hand represented his willingness to be along side her.

He stayed with her, and she stayed with him. But when it came down to the set date, she wasn't there. She couldn't breathe.

She couldn't breathe. And then a hand placed itself on her shoulder. And air rushed itself into her lungs. She glanced upward with tears in her eyes and saw the kind sad eyes that she recognized.

"Don't let yourself become lost." He said sadly. His features were disoriented, blurred even.

She chuckled darkly, "Easy for you to say. You were always so pure."

He frowned, at least it looked like it to her. He placed his hand under her chin and she felt a slight breeze tilt her head upward.

"You're wrong. I had flaws like everyone else. Like you. And I loved you and you loved me." He said, his blue eyes becoming shadowed by his hair that had grown longer since she had saw him last.

"I'm sorry..." She whispered. He stared at her for a moment before he leaned forward and touched her lips with his. She felt a slight weight on her lips, but it soon faded.

He stepped back and smiled, "Don't be. You gave me the chance to love someone, and I was glad it was you I came to love." His eyes turned to the stray tear that ran down her cheek. "You will love again, and when you do, let them in. Do not shut yourself out from the world when the world wishes to see you. You will never find anything shut away." He said.

"I miss you." She said. Her hand reached out, but her fingers flowed through his body. Her bottom lip quivered.

He reached out, trying to touch her face once more. But the barrier of life and death did not fade. It was cruel, and it did not allow them to feel the other.

"I'll find you someday." He said. "I promise. I don't care how long it takes and how many angels I have to fight, but I will find you again." He spoke surely.

The girl gave a small smile, "I know you will." And for a moment, she could clearly see his blue eyes.

"I promise."

Really short one shot. Don't know if I'll pick it up later but eh.
