morgue /ˈmɔːʳɡ / noun.
in english : morgue
meaning : a building (or room) where dead bodies are kept before burial or cremation.

It was nearly 10pm.

The blazing bright lights of the morgue reflected of the white-washed walls and the infinite row of metal cabinets, penetrating into the forensic scientist's sore eyes, drawing out one or two drops of fresh tears. Minseo's body ached with fatigue, and the scent of coffee wafted within the walls of the morgue, indicating her sleep-deprivation. Her stomach growled with a ravenous appetite. Oh right, when was the last time she ate? Probably in the afternoon.

Despite her excruciating levels of exhaustation, Minseo still stood crouched over the body of a middle-aged man that was sent to her around 4pm in the evening. She still examined every inch of that man's figure, making sure not to miss a single spot, dedication prominent in her stance. Her back ached with agony, but she promised to herself that 2 more minutes, and she'll be done.

Footsteps suddenly echoed outside the halls, and the face of a handsome detective appeared at the small window connecting the external world with the room. He peeked through the window, as if spying on minseo to make sure she was doing her job. As always, she never let him down.

He knocked on the door a few times before barging in like he owned the place.

"Hey Minseo, about the 4 bodies that were sent to you today, chief needs the reports by midnight."

"What?!" Minseo exclaimed in disbelief, slamming her coffee mug onto the table a bit harder than she intended to, causing the metal cabinets to rattle slightly, not before taking a few sips of her coffee of course.

"I'm sorry, i don't make the calls. Chief wants all these cases to be settled by the end of the week. So everything is really in a rush."

"Namjoon, you know i can't finish 4 bodies in like, what, 2 hours? I'm only 1 person," she sighed in exasperation, hoping detective kim would sympathize with her.

"I wish i was joking too. But don't worry, we just want the blood tests and the dna samples. and they're all suicide cases. So send in the reports by midnight, and you're free to go," Detective Kim said with a solemn expression on his visage, seriousness laced in his words, telling minseo that he wasn't joking.

But something puzzled her. Detective Kim was eminent for his extreme vigilance and painstaking attention to the smallest details and slightest variances. He was skeptical and careful in every case handed to him. How could he be so brusque?

How does he know they're all suicide cases?

"I can't promise you anything, but i'll try."

"Thank you, Minseo. I knew i could count on you."

Sweat trickled down her forehead. It was going to be a long night.
