Fantasy Football Part 50
Frank was downstairs and he was dressed nicer than usual today and had a bouquet of flowers.
"Dad, you look nice. Are you nervous?" Chris smirks, knowing full well the answer. "Don't worry just be yourself. Mom seemed excited to see you again too but don't tell her I told you." He winks making his dad blush.
Mai comes down the stairs slowly and she hugs Frank. "You look very handsome today, would this happen to do with a certain someone flying in today? Rekindling and such..."
Frank is red from all the joking. "Okay guys, I'm already nervous." She gives him a kiss on the cheek to calm his nerves and Chris pouts.
"What about me, your darling husband, don't I get a kiss?"
She rolls her eyes before looking at him, then Frank, and back at him again. "You know what you did..." She heads into the kitchen to start breakfast.
Frank eyes Chris who is sulking as they head to the door. He didn't have to say anything for his dad to figure it out.
"What?! We didn't have time this morning so I teased her and then stopped."
He shrugs and Frank laughs, shaking his head. "Big mistake. I always made time for your mom during pregnancy, those hormones are a bitch. When we get back you better make it up to her or there will be hell to pay, son. Trust me."
A chill runs down his back. "Okay, you could have left that part out with you and mom, dad. I don't even want that thought near my head."
He unlocks the doors to the car and starts it. "You say that now until you're face to face with a pissed off pregnant wife. I'm telling you to save yourself. The grandparents will watch the kiddos and you can have some alone time and make it up to her."
He nods while coming up with a plan. "I can set up the jacuzzi in the bathroom." They spend the next few minutes hashing out the details.
Amaiya and her mother are in the kitchen preparing breakfast when she bursts into tears. "Mai, honey, what's wrong?" She turns the heat off to the pan and sits her daughter down on a stool as she tries to gather herself.
"Honestly, I don't even know! I thought about something I did to Chris earlier as a joke and now I feel awful. He's so wonderful and I snapped at him over something so stupid, I'm a terrible wife!" She pulls her daughter into a hug and reassures her.
"Honey, this is the hormones talking, it is a telltale sign. I'm sure everything is just fine between you two. He can't stay mad at you he's so in love with you it hurts. When he gets back just have a talk and explain, he'll understand."
She wipes the tears from her eyes producing a small smile. "I should have known it was twin girls, three times the emotion over here." She resumes making the omelettes while mom takes care of the waffles.
At the airport Frank exhales hard. "There she is..." His eyes set on a beautiful middle aged woman who still had that youthful expression that used to make his heart melt. She had her bags in front of her and was looking around until she recognizes her son's truck and smiles.
Chris gets out to hug her and grab her bags. Frank, slightly slower, gets out and his breathing staggers as all the memories come flooding at the sight of her. He can feel the tears forming as hers have already begun to fall. They both remain silent as he hands her the bouquet, her favorite. She mouths a thank you as he takes the first step and grabs her empty hand and squeezes causing her to smile. Another few moments of awkward silence until she throws herself into his arms. "Frank, I've missed you so much." She whispers in his ear and he felt his entire body heat rise at having the love of his life back in his arms.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't deserve you. Thank you for being such an amazing mother and a wife to such an unworthy man." They look at each other and she wipes the tears from his eyes. Chris just stands by and watches it unfold, he may be grown but seeing his parents reconcile makes his heart burst, they were on their way to healing.
"Umm, you guys can continue this in the back seat we need to clear the loading zone." They oblige and sit together back there, there was laughing and smiles all the way back to the house. Chris asks to make a pit stop before they head home.
Amaiya and her mom are getting the kids dressed for the day. CJ is in a mood today refusing to wear what she put out.
"CJ, mommy needs you to put some clothes on or you won't be able to play today or see your grandmas and grandpas today. Do you want to be up here by yourself today? Cause we're going to have ice cream later..." She trails off and his face lights up.
"Ice cream?!" She nods and he quickly puts on his clothes and gives her the biggest smile. She leans down, "You might even get two scoops."
He squeals and jumps up and down in excitement. "But first let's go down for breakfast, Nana made waffles and who likes waffles?" Both the twins hands shoot up. They grab her mother's hands and head downstairs.
Brendan looks at his mommy and fists his hands so she can pick him up. She maneuvers him on her waist, planting kisses all over his face. He laughs. "Mama, stop it!" She continues her assault.
"Never! Mommy loves her Bren and she's going to give him kisses forever!" She puts him down and he hobbles away and down the stairs to the kitchen. She shakes her head. "What a life..."
"Could you ever find it in your heart to forgive me?" His parents are talking in the back seat and Chris keeps his eyes on the road but glances back in the rear view.
"Frank, it's honestly going to take some time but I am happy that we are talking again, I really missed this, I missed you." He kisses her hand and she leans against him the rest of the ride home, the silence was comforting and not stifling.
Frank hops out of the car and offers his hand to help her get out. He then grabs her bags from the trunk and follows her inside.
Chris takes a big breath and exhales before going inside to find his wife. He can hear the kids in the kitchen, no doubt food everywhere but in their mouths. He opens the door to find them all sitting together, except Brendan in his high chair.
"Daddy! Daddy!" The twins shout and he grins from ear to ear hearing those words.
"Morning my babies, is it good?" They both nod with pieces of waffles in their hands and syrup all over their face. He kisses their foreheads. His parents walk in and the kids go crazy. Frank nudges Chris to go make amends with Amaiya.
