Chapter 3
Jyn immediatly got on her knees next to him. She took his hand in hers to check his heartbit. "No heartbit, fuck!" She exclamed and did the very first thing in her mind: she needed to save him. The rebel pushed her hands on his chest powerfully and then, after squishing his nose for the air not to get out, she put her mouth over his and breathed air into him. Again. And again. "Come on, Newt, don't do this!" She said. Sweat drops where on her forehead and there were tears on the bim of her eyes. She tried one more time and Newt slowly opened his eyes. Jyn hugged him tightly and he remained shocked. She pulled away from him.
"You... you saved me."
"That's what a friend does for another friend." She said and Newt felt his heart sink for a few seconds. He couldn't have been with her anyways. She was just too beautiful for him, too... perfect. "Is something wrong?" She asked and got the hair out of his face.
"N-no, b-but I think we should go back." He said nervously. "We'll work on the wand tomorrow." Jyn nodded. They both got up and went slowly back to her room. No one spoke a word. She opened the door and turned on the lights.
"You take the bed this night, Newt."
"And you?"
"I think I can handle myself."
"I know, that's why I'm asking you." He said and came closer to her. He put his hands on her shoulders.
"I'll take the floor then." She said and looked down.
"Are you sure?"
"It's not the first time I sleep on something hard." She admited and took Newt's wand in her hand. "It's beautiful. Where'd you get it?"
"When I was eleven, the year I entered Hogwarts, the school for wizards, I bought it from a sectret ally in London."
"Sounds interesting." She said and put it in the box with her kyber wand. "You should get some sleep."
"Okay." The wizard said and lay on the bed. Jyn turned off the lights and lay next to the bed.
"Night." She said, slowly.
"Goodnight." Newt replied and his eyes slowly closed.
The days went by slowly. Everyday, Jyn would go to the transmissions department and listen to what Cassian's mission was doing. On the first day, they confirmed the weapon near Endor. The second day, they were on Endor and reported how many troops were there. The third day, they attacked one of the places where troopers where. She almost had a heartattack that day. And the fourth she stayed only in the hangar, with Newt's case on her left and a blanket on the ground so she could stay on it and watched ships take off and land. At evening, two U-Wings landed on landing pad nine. As Cassian got out, she picked up the briefcase and ran to him. The moment he saw her, the captain smiled. She let the case down on her right and kissed him. Cassian wasn't surprised at all, kissed her back and lifted her from the ground slowly. She backed and looked in his eyes, still being in his arms. "Hey." She said softly. "Hey." He replied.
The next day, everything was as normal as it could be: meetings and other meetings. Between the two rebels, Jyn really thought if she should show Cassian Newt that day. She wasn't sure. He might think that she was cheeting on him with Newt. "Jyn." Cassian said and made her come back from her thoughts.
"Hello Cassian." She said and looked at him. He sat on the bed next to her.
"Something wrong?" He asked.
"No, I... I need to tell you something." She said and Cassian looked at him with a scared expression.
"Yeah, what is it?" He asked her.
"When you were on that mission, I met a guy. His name is Newt. He's a really nice guy. He's funny and he has red hair and a blue long jacket... I don't think you know him." She said.
"...Newt? Is he... is he one of the rebels posted here at the base?"
"N-no... The thing is that, he's from a different world. He... he came here with a wrong spell with a magical suitcase. I know, it sounds stupid, but it's true." His eyebrows knited together.
"Suitcase...? Wrong spell...? So he is a refugee? An imperial defector?"
"No! He isn't in this war! He is a wizard from Earth! He isn't any danger for me!" She exclaimed and looked in Cassian's eyes. He crossed his arms and relaxed slightly.
"Earth, huh? That sounds..." he cleared his throat. "For how long has he been here?"
"He-he has been here since... he's been here for almost a week." She said and looked down. Cassian tried to smile a little and moved closer to her.
"Hey..." He set a hand on her cheek and gently tilted her head up. "I'm glad you made a friend."
"So you're not mad?" She said and looked in his eyes.
"Wh-why would I be mad?" He asked and chuckled a little.
"I kept it hidden from you. I'm sorry. I was afraid you'll point a blaster at him like me, but you would pull the trigger." Cassian looked away for a second.
"I don't shoot people... unless they give me a reason to." He said and put his forehead on hers.
"He can get into a suitcase. I told you. You could have get scared." He stared blankly at her for a second, saying nothing. "You don't trust me, do you?" She asked and backed from his face.
"Jyn, I trust you with my life. It's him I don't know if I can trust." He said and looked at her.
"You can trust him. Beleave me." She said looking into his eyes. He nodded at her slowly.
"Where is he now?" He asked looking for a few seconds away from her.
"In the suitcase. Working with some creatures." She said and also looked away. Cassian stayed for a few minutes to think. He didn't say anything.
"I'll have to go for a few minutes. Is it okay?"
"Yeah, sure." She said and he got up from the bed and went out the room. 'Will he beleave me?' She questioned herself. 'Will he think I cheated on him?'
Cassian went as soon as possible to General Draven. "Captain Andor. What brings you here?"
"I want every piece of information you have about Newt Scamander." He said and looked at the general. "It's urgent." He said as he bit his lower lip. "Sergeant Erso might be in danger."
