Pardoned?

Our world is full of stories about urban legends, some actually happen, others are made up just for amusement.

I was getting ready to go to a club, being a working man and a bachelor has it perks.

We were scheduled to meet at the club at 11pm. But knowing my friends I know they wouldnt turn up before 11:30pm and I hated to wait for anybody.

So, I left my house at 11:15, knowing it would take around 30 minutes to reach there by car.

Just as I turned the ignition on, Rohit called, "Where are you, man? Did you leave your home or do we have to come and drag you? Come fast. Our friend is going to ruin his life and is dying to celebrate his last night as bachelor."

"I'll be there in 15 minutes." I lied.

"Hey man, have you crossed the bridge, which is near the Ruby Hospital?" He asked.

"Yes" I lied again because I thought maybe he was trying to know my whereabouts.

"Did you see anything? Any women asking for lift?" he enquired.

"Ummm no, why did you ask?"

"Actually, there is a story that a ghost of a women resides there, and asks lift from taxi drivers, one who stops, doesn't live to see another day."

"Well, I am in a car, and I have crossed that place."

"Okay, see ya, then." he said disconnecting.

Reaching the bridge, I laughed recalling the tale.

The things people do for entertainment.

As I was crossing the bridge, there was a sudden eeriness in air under the bridge.

Then, suddenly I heard a cry, "Help.."

Automatically, I slammed the brakes. Again, the cry resounded, "Please save me, they will kill me."

Then, suddenly a hand slammed on my car's window, repeatedly banging it.

Mind was telling me to speed off..

Heart was telling to help the woman.

At last, I slid my window down to reveal a beautiful girl, wild hair flowing like waterfall, face of a porcelain doll, eyes puffed up from crying.

She was wearing a saree, and was looking gorgeous. Strange thought for the situation.

"Please help me, they will kill me. There is a police station nearby. Can you drop me there?" she asked breaking my reverie.

"Get inside the car." I said.

While driving to the police station, my eyes were time and again darting towards the beauty beside me.

"What are you thinking? Actually, I know what you are thinking, but I will pardon you, as this is your last night." She said in a raspy voice.

To say I was terrified would be an understatement.

I was shaking and sweating, mind numb, ready to die.

Just then a car stopped beside me, making me turn around.

"We knew you were lying." My friends shouted.

When I turned back.

There was no one beside me but something written on the window, "This isnt over."
