Mom called, "Laundry should be done today, you've been postponing this for three days now. Get done with chores today. You promised."

"Yes, Mom." I sang, cursing myself for making such a promise and planning to escape from the high window.

I piled the things I found, ready to climb but stopped when I heard footsteps.

"Today, itself." She said and turned to go, when the lights flickered, I heard the pile fall.

I turned towards Mom with scared eyes.

Instead she said, "No need to throw tantrums, there might be rats here.", walking away.

Defeated, I turned the washing machine on, put one-fourth of the clothes, detergent, pressed the button, and of it went with it whirring sound.

Immediately, a creature jumped in front of me. I screamed in fright.

"No use, stop acting", came mom's voice.

I was too stunned to hear anything and was backing away screaming when mom appeared and boy, was she pissed.

"What is it?", she demanded. I pointed towards the creature.

She looked towards my finger then faced me.

"What?" more angrily if possible.

I saw nothing where I pointed.

But, there was a green creature.

"I seriously can't believe this, you're a 16 years old girl and you're telling me stories about monsters? Thinking I'll believe you. Stop acting. One more noise and you'll be grounded", then she was gone.

Suddenly the creature reappeared, I started backing away again, keeping silent this time.

It approached me extending its hand, came close, took my hand and suddenly calmness rushed over me.

This time I noticed that the creature was exotic, it's face was mesmerizingly beautiful. I felt captivated by its charms, forgetting my surroundings, unable to take my eyes off it.

It came a bit more closer and made some sound.

Suddenly, my bubble bursted. But I remained calm.

On close observation, I noticed that I'd seen a similar creature somewhere, but when remembered, was stunned. " It's a nymph."

They are mythical creature, regarded as divine spirits, who animate nature, stunningly beautiful, loves to dance and sing.

But no way was I seeing one.

But it was holding my hand what more proof do I need.

On talking (don't know how on earth, it knows English, but maybe mythical characters can do anything) I found out that while playing with her friends, she came through the window to hide in here. But the whirring sound scared her. Thus, she jumped.

She needed to get out but the pile of things were scattered so she can't reach the window.

Deciding to help the beautiful creature, I made the pile again and went through the window with her.

She told me to remember her whenever I needed real help and she will help me.

I saw her off.

When I came back, mom was in the basement, fuming and the clothes were all ruined.

I prayed for help but no one rescued me, guess God too is helpless in front of mom's anger.
