Percy Jackson
Is there any of you who didn't hear about Rick Riordan's work? I believe it's very unlikely. The unique and amazing way he introduced the Gods is hard to forget or overlook.
Riordan's universe is monumental. He didn't stay only with the Greek half-bloods from the "Percy Jackson" novels. In the following "Heroes of Olympus" we get to meet the Roman half-blood kids and that's not it.
I gave you a good hint with the names of the following series with the picture above. Do you know which gods do we meet in them though?
Though talk about all the stories would take more than one chapter in our #FanHouse, and so let's focus on the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series. And while we do, let's play a little game. Every book had a prophecy which was given to one of the characters. I'll give you those prophecies and you tell me who was the character it was given to. Shall we?
The Lightning Thief was the first of the series which was transformed in a motion picture and made people from all around the world fall in love with Percy (*cough* Logan Lerman *cough*). The story was also published as a graphic novel
Here's your prophecy:
You shall go west, and face the god who has turned,
You shall find what was stolen, and see it safely returned,
You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend,
And you shall fail to save what matters most, in the end.
Who was it given to?
The Sea of Monsters was the second book based on which was made a movie it is also a graphic novel.
Here's your prophecy:
You shall sail the iron ship with warriors of bone,
You shall find what you seek and make it your own,
But despair for your life entombed within stone,
And fail without friends, to fly home alone!"
Who was it given to?
The Titan's Curse, nah, don't mind the picture down there, I'm just messing with you. As of March 2014, the film is on hiatus and according to Logan Lerman, might not be made. But hey, we can dream, right? At least we've got the graphic novel for the visual.
Here's the prophecy:
Five shall go west to the goddess in chains,
One shall be lost in the land without rain,
The bane of Olympus shows the trail,
Campers and Hunters combined prevail,
The Titan's curse must one withstand,
And one shall perish by a parent's hand.
Who was it given to?
The Battle of the Labyrinth was also published as a graphic novel and had the following prophecy:
You shall delve in the darkness of the endless maze,
The dead, the traitor, and the lost one raise.
You shall rise or fall by the ghost king's hand,
The child of Athena's final stand.
Destroy with a hero's final breath,
And lose a love to worse than death.
Who was it given to?
In The Last Olympian is also a graphic novel and in this story, the Great Prophecy is revealed. And here we'll change the game a little... Do you know what prophecy was it?
We all know the movie adaptations, and as cute as Percy is in them, we know they lacked a lot from the books.
What was the one thing you missed the most from the books in the movie adaptation?
What are your thoughts about the cast?
Your thoughts about the pace?
How about the relationships?
What are your thoughts about Luke? We know what's his deal. He believes that the gods' time should be over, and it's time for the kids to take their place. So he works to raise the Titan Kronos, who would destroy the gods... yes we know the story.
So what do you think about Luke's plan? Do you think he was ultimately a good guy or a bad guy?
Which side would you join? The half-bloods who thought it was their time to shine or the half-bloods who thought the gods should keep their places in the world.
Talking about Greek gods. Who wouldn't love all those myths and legends? I know I have, I still do. Rick Riordan tends to give his gods a crazy, comical spin, which is unusual.
How do you like the way they're portrayed in the novels?
You can take a little quiz and tell us which God are you?
(Just click on the question, it will take you to the quiz)
Now when you know which God you are, aren't you curious which cabin would you belong to? Take the quiz by clicking on the question and share with us your results!
And here's a guessing game where we say our goodbyes. Above you find animated characters from Percy Jackson. Some are pretty obvious, some a little less obvious... either way, do you recognize who is who?
Tell us a number and your guess and we'll tell you if it's correct.
I hope y'all had fun and see you next time!
