Juliette felt anger rise in her chest as she drove the car away from the Burns' household. Calliope's words broke her heart and spirit deeper than anyone had before. Still, the anger dissipated, turning into a twisted sense of relief. Someone wanted to find out how to kill her when they already had the words that hurt more than silver on her skin. They burned like a blade, slicing her heart while it was still beating.

Juliette felt the car swerve, aiming at a tree near the curb's edge. She slowly began to hear a faint scream as the car crashed, and she knew it was Calliope who had watched her crash.
