The smell of Calliope's blood leaking through the bandages on her chest was mind-numbing as Juliette felt the thousand-year-old instincts tell her to bite and feed on her. Her body felt like a snake curled into a strike position, ready to inject her venom and consume her prey.

Calliope noticed the change in her behavior as it turned from a human to a predator. "Jules, you have to fight this." Juliette snapped at her, "I'm trying!" As the words escaped her lips, she felt her body move without her control like a threatened cobra; she hissed and bared her fangs, starting to get ready to pounce at the hunter. She told the hunter to run with the bit of control she had left. the hunter took off running into the tree-filled forest

And she was now chasing Calliope through the wood like a twisted game of cat and mouse. As Juliette chased her prey, she cornered her in the crook of a large dark oak tree. The vamp pounced, closing the gap between them, and then she sunk her fangs deep into Cal's neck. She greedily drank her blood, nearly killing the hunter, until someone pulled her off the taller girl. "Let me go!" the vampire yelled as she thrashed against the person holding her.
