Chapter 63 - Word Spreads Too Fast
Yeah, there was no way she'd get far enough to actually see Edge.
She managed to tell a few people she knew was against Asgore, and told them to gather their families and friends before they left immediately. But then it immediately went downhill when the word spread so fast that other people started telling her that there was a safe boat.
She was just that good.
But, the word spread too fast, and some certain, fearful people didn't take the hint. She didn't know what they must've thought, maybe that it was a test, or maybe they did actually support Asgore in whatever reasons they did, they didn't go. They stayed where they did, shaking their heads while staring at her, sometimes telling her it was a trick, other times saying they were too far past the point of giving up to care.
And sometimes, when she wanted to go back and give up on telling people, that blank stare would remind her why she was doing this.
No one deserved to live here, no one did.
Her life was never simple. Her parents weren't the best of people, but they tried, they were just thrown into the wrong circumstances. Both of them forced to join Asgores Royal Guard, training until dusk, her standing in the window as a child, awaiting the arrival of her parents. She'd get bored, lonely, finding cigarettes and beer from her Fathers coping box under his bed, welcoming her parents way past the sun setting with a smoke breath. They never said anything, just muttering before passing out.
Of course, one day, her Mother never returned. Her Father drank more. Never hit her, he was a slow and clumsy drunk, he never raised his hand. It was her own actions that punished her, chugging a whole bottle of his beer until she threw it back up, smoking just to do something. That's when a hungry thief snuck in, and her Father didn't move after a strong blow to the head. She didn't cry, she just pulled out her cigarettes and smoked through them all, shuddering alone on her porch.
Over the course of years, she learned of Asgore, of his actions that dragged down the Kingdom. It was his fault. There was no other explination. It was utterly his fault. He had power, he had a choice to help people, but he ignored them. Due to his own ignorance, or to his own hatred, she would never know. but he had the ability to help, and he didn't. So she found herself forced to steal more, ending up in jail, being forced to work in a shop that gave less than her old job. She never had time for love, never thought about it. Her life just felt pointless, failing her childhood friend of whom she promised she would keep going. It was hard.
However, now, there was hope. Hope for a savior. She held onto that hope tight.
But it was torn away with the words she heard from a person of which she knew was trustworthy.
"Asgore heard this rumor, I was just with him," The fire elemental said quietly, "He's getting all of the guard. He's planning on killing anyone leaving."

Okay, so my parents have decided to limit electronic time, which kinda sucks.
But I got this chapter out, no?
