Chapter 39 - Midnight Meeting
Blue rolled over, groaning slightly when a cold breeze suddenly hit his face, the cold air prickling at his bones. The short skeleton then had sat up, blinking a few times as the cold air quickly developed his now exposed bones.
Wait...
Why was the air cold?
He had the fireplace burning brightly, so it should've still been warm if he woke up in the middle of the night. But for some weird reason, it was freezing in his room.
That open window could explain it.
The window across from his bed was wide open, banging lightly against the wall from the wind pouring in from the outdoors. In his half-awake state, he didn't question why it was open, he just quietly stood up out of bed and closed the window with a light click before turning back towards his bed.
"Greetings."
"Gah!" Blue hissed out of surprise, almost screaming out but stopping himself.
Dust, the guy he had met earlier, was laying on his side on his bed next to where Blue had been sleeping just mere moments earlier. His skull was propped up by his arm, a little grin playing on his face.
"What are you doing? In here? In my bedroom? In the middle of the night?" Blue whispered, approaching Dust in confusion, "How did you even get in?"
"The window you just closed," Dust said quietly, gesturing towards the window, "I got bored."
"You got bored, from your house which is probably really far away, and came all the way into the castle, snuck in through the window, and sat down in my bed until I woke up?" Blue questioned him.
"Indeed," Dust said, sitting up while stretching his arms, "If it's a problem, I can leave. I'm used to not being wanted, after all."
"No, the Magnificent Blue never turns down hosting a new friend, even if it is-" He paused, glancing out the window at the moon, "-Midnight time!"
"Cool beans," Dust said, standing up, "Do you have more poptarts at all? Those things are delicious!"
"I refuse to ever run out!" Blue said, keeping his voice at a minimum, "But uh, I put them in the public kitchen for the Jury members since I had to let the servants clean out my kitchen, so we'll go on a little adventure."
"Sounds great," Dust said, "And I'm sorry about barging in, I got lonely so I snuck in."
"You snuck in just to see me?" Blue asked, "That's awesome!"
"You are very welcome, my good friend," Dust said, snapping his fingers before pointing them at Blue.
"But we gatta be sneaky," Blue said, pressing a finger against his teeth, "Very sneaky."
"Sneaky, I shall be sneaky, like a sneaky snake," Dust whispered back.
Blue opened the door and stepped out, gesturing for Dust to follow him. Dust did, the two tip-toeing into the carpeted hallway before the jury member silently closed the door behind him. They both silently giggled at the sneaking as they make weird expressions at each other, but they still made sure to remain silent, both of then for different reasons.
If Dust was caught in the castle, sneaking around, he would be attacked almost immeadiatly. Probably overwhelmed, since he hadn't accessed his full vampire powers yet, and make Blue find out his true identity. And he didn't want that.
Sometimes, with the vampires, it was all business and survival. It was annoying and boring, unless it was torture, Dust didn't really like killing. He liked how creative he could get with torturing, but with normal, quick killing, he didn't get that happiness from killing like the others. So, it was just plain boring for him unless he could spice it up. That's why he liked Blue, since Blue was like a friend he could hang out with and not have to worry about all of that offical, survival crap. Not to mention he got free poptarts.
Blue had a similar reason for getting caught. He knew if Dust was caught, he would be taken away and most likely exucuted while Blue would be fired from his job and banished from the the castle, like Alphys, an old friend of his. And he obviously didn't want that, since he didn't know what Royal Guards were out tonight.
With the kitchen door closed behind the two, they finally flicked on the lights, both of them immeadiatly heading to the cabinets to get some food.
"I think we should grab a quick snack then you should leave, I need a lot of sleep tonight," Blue whispered to Dust, sitting down at the table across from him.
"Why's that? Are you putting our plans for the ponies into action?" Dust asked.
"Not yet, it's just that I have a meeting about the vampires again."
Dust nearly spat out the poptart he was eating, using his wrist to cover his teeth as he recovered from the surprise.
"I-Is that so?" Dust said, his voice wavering.
"Yeah, the King made us join this vampire killing team where we're trying to find their base," Blue answered, drawing random patterns into the tablecloth with his fingers, "I know they took some of my friends and all, but there must be a reason, right?"
"I'm... I'm sure there's a reason," The vampire said, searching in his mind to find some guilt.
But found none.
He wasn't guilty. Death gave him a job, he did it. He owed Death a lot, and he definitely still owed him some more.
"Yeah, but I'm worried about our plan..." The shorter said quietly.
The hooded vampire leaned forward, crossing his arms as he looked at Blue with an interested look.
"What's the plan?"
~~~~~~
"I'm here!" Bubbly yelled, kicking down the door.
Silica observed the room she stepped into, which was just a small simple living room. There was a big couch that could fit four people at most, a table in front of it, and just plain brown carpeting. Nothng too special about it at all.
"Hello," A male said.
He was...
On the ceiling.
On the freaking ceiling.
A male man, around her age, was sitting cross legged on the ceiling, casually flipping through a book like nothing was wrong. He was wearing a white mask over his mouth with a plain 'X' scratched over it, probably with a sharpie. Along with that, the man had a light green t-shirt and plain jeans without any shoes on. His hair was a red color, except for a part that was black and longer than the rest, a golden bead holding it together.
"Heya!" Bubbly said, waving at him as she closed the door shut with her foot, "How's the story, mate?"
"...Long..." He said, looking over at them.
His cold eyes were different colors, one a light green while the other was an intense red.
"Alrighty then, let's a' go!" Bubbly said, walking towards another door.
"Downstairs?" The other asked, flipping to another page.
"Uh-huh," The ship captain said, opening another door, "Ya have fun with ya book! I'll see y'all later!"
"...Fine..." He said.
Bubbly led her down through a hatch in the empty room next to the living room, Silica glancing back at the guy in confusion.
"Who's that?" The female asked, pointing back at him.
"Oh, that'a friend of mine, his full name's Wǒ cóng sǐ lǐ fùhuóle. But, since it'a long name an' all, we call 'im Wocong," The light browned eyed girl said, grinning back at her new friend, "He's chinese."
"I can tell by the name..." Silica said, "But what was with that ceiling thing? How was he doing that?"
"Oh, yeah, he'a changes gravity for him an' other people. Anything with'a heartbeat is in his reign of gravity stuff'io."
"So you all have powers over here? How come the humans from my Kingdom don't have any, while it looks like all of you do."
Bubbly suddenly turned around and grinned, placing her hands on her hips as she looked up at Silica, who was taller than her on a higher step.
"That's somethin' I'a learned from an old teacher o' mine!" The brown haired one said, "It's got to do with DNA!"
"But you're a human..." The blue eyed one said.
"Not that kinda stuff!" Bubbly objected, "We found out tha' certain genes 'bout human souls are locked, but can be unlocked through surroundings! Better food and health help the human soul grow t'a it's full power! I got power of bubbles, he got'a power of gravity, and you I have no idea."
"So basically bad surroundings limit the human soul," Silica said, "What exactly does that mean?"
"He 'plained it better to me before, how'da put it..." Bubbly said, humming for a bit as she tapped her chin, "Basically, t'a first instinct for humans is survival. It put's all o' it's extra energy, magic in th's case, int'a that. Ya can go longer without food and water, that kinda survival stuff. But, probably with better food 'nd water conditions, you're magic should'a replenish and ya should be able t'a use it soon. Does that make sense, mate?"
"You mean I could've had magic all this time if it weren't for Asgore!" Silica snapped, her right eye twitching.
"'Course!" Bubbly said, opening the door at the bottom of the stairs, "Asgore probably didn't even tell ya how human souls have magic in them."
"Human souls have magic in them?" Silica asked.
"Both monsters 'nd humans have magic and determination, mate. We have more determination th'n them, but they have more magic th'n us," Bubbly said, "Equal trade, really."
"Why would Asgore keep that from us?" Silica asked.
"'Cause, he don't like humans," Bubbly said, "If they all found out they have'a magic, then they'd start to try and get it, be chaos that he won't like, no he won't. So, keep it quiet, they can't fight back 'gainst monsters, so yeah. Propaganda aspects, pretty much."
"I don't like how controlling he is over the Kingdom, I can't wait until we put a stop to him."
"Well, first off, we need'a get in there to get some stuff. We're importing back some o' the spies we sent in, since it'll be too dangerous to keep all of them there'a. There's also some stuff I gatta do, but then we've gatta some plans that should work."
Bubbly then stopped at a door, turning towards Silica as she paused from talking.
"Right'a through here is the Queen," She said, "Ya ready? As soon as ya step in there we get started."
Silica gulped, nodding firmly.
"Yeah, I'm ready," She breathed out.
~~~~~~
"So, how was your first day?" Bubbly asked PurpleFluffball.
"Well, it was alright," PurpleFluffball said, "A bit stressful, but not too bad."
"That's cool!" Bubbly said, "Did he say you're going to be the next Queen for sure?"
"He said I was looking good in training considering it was my first day," She said, "But I'm not sure if it's for me."
"Why not?" Bubbly asked.
"It's just... Stressful, you know?" The purple haired girl asked, tracing the edge of her cup with her finger, "I'm not sure if I'd be able to handle that job. Ruling over a Kingdom? That sounds crazy! I can't even keep you under control."
"That's because I act like a drunk person constantly," Bubbly laughed, "But I'm sure you'll be great for the role."
"Are... Are you really sure?"
"Yeah, ya will do great!"

Another chapter out guys!
I think it's no surprise who the Queen will be, but whatever, too lazy to type it into this one.
Have a great day!
