Chapter 38 - A Plan

"Welcome to our Kingdom, mate!" Bubbly said to Silica, throwing open her arms.

Silica stared widely at her surroundings, her dark blue eyes as wide as they could be.

It was nothing she could've ever imagined.

Luscious plant life and happy, healthy citizens walked around, the atmosphere was just generally better. The streets were clean, real smiles were on people's faces, monsters and humans mingled together with no fear. Some girls were wearing normal jeans, some were wearing skirts and dressings, one even had her hair cut short. The buildings and roads looked safe and generally new, and the whole area just had a positive like vibe.

"Wow..." Silica breathed out, "Is this a dream?"

"Nope!" Bubbly said, "Our Queen 'ere actually cares about others, so she's a good ruler, yes she is."

"It looks amazing here!" Silica said, throwing her arms into the air, "It's so clean and fresh and I can actually see the stars! I kinda forgot what they looked like!"

"Yeah, a'lot'a of people I know 'eally like the stars, includin' me," Bubbly said, smiling over at Silica, "Well, we have'ta go to the house, ya need to meet the Queen, after all."

"The house?" Silica asked.

"Yeah, the castle where 'r old King lived was destroyed. Lab accident, prett' sure, whole thing fell down faster th'n my stomach when seeing a run on sentence, mate. Queen decided not t'a build 'nother castle and just a normal house that's fortified, the basement of the castle stayed so we built it over top."

While the rest of the crew worked on unloading the ship of the extra boxes off and tying up the ship completely, Bubbly gave a few orders before she started to head up the hill, motioning for the newcomer to follow her. So she did, following the other up the hill, feeling the grass underneath her shoes.

"Ya like it here?" Bubbly asked, smiling back at Silica as they walked, "If we can beat Asgore, you're friends can prob'ly stay here too. We have enough land t'a house all ya."

"I wouldn't mind," Silica said, "But, you never told me exactly what the plan was. What are you guys planning on doing? Just going to war?"

"Yes and no, we h've a bunch of plans," The brown eyed female said, grinning at her new friend, "Asgore ain't backing down, he's tryin' to expand his rule. Which is kind'a difficult, for a King like 'im and all, seeing he's in the middle of an ocean. We ain't clear on what his motives 're, but pretty sure they aren't good. Not even our spies know exactly what he's tryin' to do."

"So what so the plan have to involve me?" The blue eyed one asked, increasing her walking to catch up.

"Well, ya know the place well enough, yes?" Bubbly asked, turning towards her, "Know how the street life is like, know about day to day life?"

"I'd say I know about it, yeah..." Silica said, trailing off.

"And ya know 'bout some friends who'd be able to come over?"

"Where are you going with this?"

Bubbly slowed to a stop, turning once again before tossing some of her brown hair over her shoulder.

"You got something against saving your friends?" Bubbly asked.

~~~~~~
"This looks like a good place to settle down for tonight," Cross said, "There isn't anyone else in here, and it's more hidden than the others."
"Not to m-mention no windows, th-this is a good find," Alphys added on.
"A good find?" Ink asked.
"I think we'll be able to set up against this wall, it has the least visability if someone walked by," Cross said.
"A good find?" Ink repeated again.
"I got some leafs to build myself a little bed for myself," Flowey announced.
"How is this a good find?" The Jury member questioned the other monsters, "It's an allyway. With some garbage in it."
"Isn't that like the dead bodies of your friends?" The red and white eyed asked, "You know, since you're a flower and they're leafs. It'd be like me sleeping on a skeleton of a human."
"What, no," Flowey answered, "It's just normal leafs."
"Just ignore me, that's fine," Ink said, "But I need to know if this alleyway will help us with our survival."
"I-It will," Alphys answered the skeleton finally, looking over at him, "It will k-keep us hidden from others t-trying to kill us. But taking s-shifts would still be a g-good idea."
"Both of my legs are useless, I think I should be allowed to sleep first," Ink said, plopping himself down onto the ground.
"T-That was the plan..."
They all settled down, Flowey offering to take over the first shift. He sat near the alleyway opening, so he could have view if anyone came towards them. Cross was a bit hesitant, but settled down anyway.
No, he wasn't worried about Flowey, he hadn't proven he would be an enemy. He was worried about Ink, since Ink was still emotionless, and he hated it.
Makes you really appreciate having emotions, huh?
Seems Chara wanted to talk again.
You've been very talk-ish lately. Cross said back, closing his eye sockets as he tried to drift into sleep.
There's been a lot to talk about. Chara said, I mean, we're out in the streets again, and now vampires are probably going to be hunting us down.
Don't remind me.
Fine, then let's talk about that guy that helped you? Mr goo?
His name isn't Mr. Goo, I'm pretty sure.
Then what is his name? If he said it, I didn't catch it.
You know I'm terrible with names. If he said it I don't know it.
Well, guess we won't know for awhile. Shame too, he seemed nice.
He kept looking at me weirdly, I doubt that I would want to see him again.
Maybe he knew about our double soul problem and his vampire stuff kicked in.
Maybe.
And like that, the conversation ended.
Flowey groaned, banging his head against the wall next to him. Watchimy the entrance was so boring!
"Nothing even will happen, probably," Flowey mumbled.
He didn't mind being Alphys' lab assistant. It was nice, and not to bad compared to his previous life. She did manage to get food for them, since her girlfriend was in the Royal Guard, and he was next a forest, so sometimes he could roam around inside of the forest. Of course, he'd stay close to the house since the forest ground was dangerous, but he had come across the vampires before.
Now that was an interesting night.
~~~~~~

Flowey had ducked behind a tree as soon as he had spotted them, his vines getting ready to pull him into the dirt below in case he was spotted.

It was two skeletons, Fell and Killer.

Fell was leaning against a tree with a cigarette between his teeth while Killer was reading over a piece of paper.

"Toby Fox, it's so boring going on these small missions, just stealing a document? Seriously?" Fell said, "What's the point of even being a vampire if we can't do anything."

"I kind of don't mind, if we don't have to do much then that means people won't expect much of us..." Killer said.

"I should at least be allowed to see Edge if I can't do anything big," Fell said, "He's not inside of the Royal Guard yet, he's just training. It wouldn't be too much of a risk, right?"

"You and I both know that's a bad idea," Killer said.

"Don't you have any family you want to meet?" The red eyed skeleton asked, crossing his arms, "Anyone you miss, anyone you would want to say one goodbye to?"

"They all died awhile ago," The other skeleton said, pointing at the black goo leaking from his eye sockets, "I've lived three of your lifetimes, as you can tell."

"Oh, I'm sorry for your loss, and for being kind of a jerk about it," Fell said awkwardly.

"It's over now, I'm fine now," Killer said.

He then looked back down at his paper, leaving the discussion in silence. This gave Flowey some more time to think about what he had just learned.

Vampires were close to their house.

They knew someone getting ready to be in the Royal Guard.

There probably more that they were working for.

"Just a question," Fell said suddenly, "Why do you keep, Y'know, living? If you don't have any family, and you don't like working for Error, then why do you keep working? Monsters need a goal to live for, or they'll die. What's your goal?"

It took the other a few minutes to answer, but when he did, it made Flowey tilt his head.

"I have no idea, really."

The small yellow flower decided he had enough and backed up, only for a rock sitting next to him to be knocked against the tree with a small thud that no normal monster or human could hear from their position.

But they did any way.

~~~~~~
Flowey could remember how panicked he was when he had went underground and dug for his life. One of them had somehow got to his location and pulled one of his vines, which completely ripped off of his body.
At least he was safe now.
And would probably never see those vampires again.
~~~~~~

"This is a big lab!" Bubbly said, looking around in awe.

"Yes, I know, hurry up, I don't have all day," Gaster said, snapping his fingers, "Carry that box to that table, we need to get started right away."

"Okay!" Bubbly said, setting down the box.

"I have some plans, two projects specifically that I want to get started," Gaster said, walking up to his large whiteboard.

"Oh, a white board!" Bubbly said, bouncing up to it, "And wow, that's a lot of math stuff I will probably die from if I keep staring at it."

"That's only a 10% chance," Gaster said, snapping his body to the right to grab a marker, "How terrible are your grades?"

"They ain't terrible!" Bubbly said in an offended tone.

"The word 'ain't' is slang, which is one of the big 'no' things you should use in English," Gaster said, placing his hands on his waist as he towered above the girl, "I need to know how much you know to see if you are even going to be able to help me."

"I'm really more of a ship, ocean type of girl, I'm not great at science, or math," She said, laughing awkwardly to try and clear up the mood.

"Then we'll have to have the cyborg project on standby until I get some real help," Gaster said, pushing aside a blueprint.

"Robot?" Bubbly asked.

"It's one we won't be doing," The tall skeleton snapped quickly, in rolling the other blueprint and pinning it up to the wall.

"What's this?" Bubbly asked, approaching the blue paper as she glanced over the confusing ideas scattered across the paper.

"A machine to access time and space itself, I call it the Void Machine," Gaster said, "And you will help me build it."
