Chapter 28 - Party (Part 1)
"Hey, there she is!"
Blue's voice rang above the other high class members who were murmuring among themselves, all of them standing near the entrance hall of the castle. Sans, Geno, and Dream had just walked in to try and find Blue and Sci, and Blue wasn't that hard to find.
He was never that hard to find.
Just follow the scent of pop tarts.
Geno was distracted from finding Blue by spotting the girl who was going to be the spy, Geno slowing in his tracks as he observed her.
She was the librarian!
One of the few things Geno had in common with Dream was that he never forgot a face. He knew this was Silica, the librarian that had a bad attitude and one of them had threatened her because of it.
Her outfit was different now, and her hair was actually brushed, too. It was pulled into a side ponytail, which it looked like she was not enjoying. She just had the expression of not liking all of the people staring at her, but she was also in awe at the large hall she was inside of.
Silica was wearing a light green flowing dress with a brown belt around her waist, and she was talking to Edge. King Asgore had yet to arrive, since he was probably getting glorified by the servants to look like some sort of god.
Living in the same castle space with Asgore has taught quite a few things about him to Geno. Asgore barely left the castle, but when he knew someone of high status outside of it would be seeing him, he would get dressed up even more so than he already was. Geno never bothered to change, since he was fine in his current clothes. But Asgore was obsessed with image so much it had freaked out Geno a bit.
Geno pulled down his white sleeves to make sure they were long enough to cover his fingers, where his newly bought ring was resting on one of them. He didn't know why, but he really liked that ring. It was nice, he just really liked it. The skeleton would just have to make sure no one saw him with it on, and he would be fine.
He was having a hard time focusing on the whole spy trip. He doubted Blue was actually excited, he was probably trying to distract himself from the crises on hand.
First off, two people had been kidnapped and will probably never be seen again. Anyone who suddenly vanishes are never found alive, only dead bodies and dust. Ink and Cross were most likely dead right now, and Blue was distracting himself from that by keeping focused on the spy situation.
Who even cared, Ink might be dusted, and they're probably next.
Being followed had defiantly guaranteed for Geno that Ink and Cross were goners, and that they would be picked off one by one before they were all dead. Dream would probably be the next target, since he had memorized the first page of that book.
To think that a single book would set off Geno's possible death was a unique thought he didn't really like.
Geno,wasn't really afraid of death, the term would be 'annoyed' by it. He couldn't die, not yet. He had things to do, people to deal with. He wanted to get closer on his childhood trauma, and he was determined to do so, no matter the cost.
Suddenly, someone crashed into the back of Geno and snapped him out of his thoughts, a flash of blond hair and a pink fabric material filling his vision before they just vanished into the crowd, a faint female's "sorry" being the only evidence that anyone had even bumped into him.
Alright then, that was weird, not going to lie.
But he had more important things to deal with.
Geno didn't want to be at the stupid party, but it was required, so he had to attend. Unless he wanted to lose his job, his gold savings, and all hope for survival.
Being able to stay an upper class citizen required so much focus and dedication since one could easily slip up and be banished from the castle entirely, so that caused them to keep their eyes (or eye sockets in Geno's case) to figuratively say, obsessing over every step to watch out for a slip up. That didn't give them much room to disobey King Asgore much, and with the threat of starvation high, they wanted to stay near the only imports, which was watched by the Royal Guard, so no one could interfere for food.
It was a smart move on King Asgore's part. Geno wasn't new to manipulation, he had practiced it for years, and he could identify it with a simple glance. That's also why King Asgore didn't try to do anything about the vampires, since they encouraged people to want to stay near him for safety.
That was until the vampires had started targeting upper citizens.
With that threat, Asgore had to listen to Geno's and Edge's pleas to allow them to handle the vampires. Geno saw the chance, and he took it. But then the little rebellion had happened, and now this spy thing, so he didn't have any opportunities to deal with the vampires.
It was like a sudden explosion of events that had occurred, and Geno and his friends were thrown into the center.
And he doubted it would be over anytime soon.
"Oh, hello Sci," Geno said when he spotted Sci, walking up to him.
"Guten Tag," Sci muttered, not glancing up from his papers as he wrote down some words, "Wie geht's?"
"You're doing that thing where you speak German while not paying attention again," Geno said, flicking the side of Sci's skull.
"Rude much," Sci grumbled, adjusting his glasses as he looked over at Geno, "But, ah, sorry. I just really like the German language."
Sci had some German genes inside of his bones, so it was natural that he had learned about the culture. He had apparently taken the German speaking class in his high school, and passed it with flying colors. If he was extremely distracted, he would go to German language, and that would show he was out of his surroundings. Usually a flick on the skull of a pinch on his arm would bring him back into the real world, or Blue tackling him as he yelled about pop tarts.
"Yeah, I know," Geno snapped.
"I can understand why you're upset, I have projects to be working on too," Sci grumbled.
"What exactly are you working on, anyway?"
"It's a secret."
Geno sighed, pulling down his sleeve again for reassurance. They both had things to be done, this was just a stupid waste of a morning he could've been spending working on looking for any signs of Ink and...
What was the servants name again?
Ah, that's right, Cross. Geno didn't really talk to Cross much, so he didn't get to know him very much. To Geno, he looked like a quiet, dull person, but he and Sans seemed to joke around, so he must've had some sort of sense of humor.
It would make sense why the vampires took Ink, if it was for the book, but why Cross?
"Oh, excuse me," Lust said, tapping Geno's shoulder lightly.
"Hello, can I help you?" Geno asked the dressed up skeleton.
"We were just wondering when the King would get here," Grillby answered for Lust, pushing up his glasses a bit.
"Sorry, we were wondering the same thing, he has a flare for dramatic entrances during events, so it'll probably be obvious, and late."
"Yes, he does do that quiet often," Grillby pointed out, "Oh, please excuse our bad manners, I'm Grillby, and this is my wife, Lust. We both run the banks."
"Hello!" Lust said, grinning as he waved at them.
"I'm the Royal Scientist, Sci," Sci said, "And this here is Geno."
"I work in the War strategy stuff that no one else does," Geno said.
"Oh, Geno, we lost you in the crowd," Sans said, popping up next to the red scarfed skeleton, "I was-"
He then froze when he caught sight of Grillby, a smile twisting up his teeth on his skull.
"Heya, you're the hot guy from the library!" Sans said.
"Oh, you were at the library?" Lust asked.
"Yes, I helped him get a book, since he's as short as you!" Grillby said, tapping Lust's head.
"Oh hush, I'm not that short, for a girl, anyway," Lust said.
Suddenly, a bang filled the room, making them stop their conversation and glance up at the staircase, where Asgore had made his grand entrance.
He was wearing his usual grown, but his hair had been curled, and he was wearing a long golden robe that swept over the stair case as he walked. All of the high class members of their society broke out clapping, the skeletons included.
"Friends of mine, welcome to the celebration of our first ever spy being sent out into another country!" King Asgore announced above them.
"Let's get started, shall we?"
~~~~~~
"This is the last ship that's probably going out to Asgore before he shuts the rest of them down," PurpleFluffBall said, looking up at the white sails.
"Yeah, it is," Bubbly sighed, "But there'll be other places for me to take my own ship, when I at least get my own."
"You're just a helper for now, but I'm sure you'll be able to get your own ship and go on those adventures you've always wanted to go on!" Her purple haired friend supported her, patting her back.
"But not if I get caught," She grumbled, glancing over at the large crate that two adults were hauling onto the ship, "If they find the people we're smuggling in on there, we'll all be killed."
"Then don't get caught."
Yay!
Getting a little bit more into the backstory! Yippie!
I'm getting excited for this book, I can't wait until I reveal all of the plot twists.
*Evily laughs*
