Chapter 25 - Quotie-Quotie
"Dust, come play ball with us!"
"Um, no thanks guys, I just want to enjoy my book."
"You're being kinda lame, Dust. Seriously, you read too many books. Get up and play with us!"
"No thanks again, I'm just going to read. I like reading."
"(Hey, Dyrus, your brother sucks)."
"(Yeah, seriously, he's not cool at all. He just reads a lot, he doesn't even play with us)."
"It's fine, I'm sure he'll read so much he'll go blind. Toss me the ball, I'm open!"
~~~~~~
"Hey, I have a new quote for the book," The vampire said.
Fell and Killer, who were playing chess, looked over at D.B, who was walking in with the book of Quotes. She then wiped aside their chess game, which both of them objected to, and set down the binder, opening it to the last page where there was room for more quotes, and pulled out the pencil.
"This quote better be important if you're going to interrupt our game," Killer muttered, knocking aside a pawn from his lap.
"Oh, it's a good one," She pointed out, her hand scrambling to quickly write it down before she forgot.
'You aren't party material, bring-a-ling says the disco ball, which means no.'
Killer burst out laughing after he read it and Fell chuckled, straightening up some of the chess pieces that the girl had knocked over.
"Whatcha guys doing?"
They all whipped their heads to the source of the voice to find Dust, who was ten minutes earlier unconscious, now standing next to D.B as he looked down at the book. They then all froze, afraid to know how he would react to them writing down quotes of himself.
"Oh, quotie-quoties!" Dust said, smiling down at the book of quotes, "I love quotie-quoties, especially funny ones. Carry on."
He then walked away, leaving them all stunned by his sentence.
"We have a new name for the Book of Quotes, the Quotie-Quotie Book!" They all agreed at once, them frantically flipping to the front to create a new title for it.
Dust, meanwhile, headed off to go see if he could make up his mistake to Error through this new mission. He usually didn't mess up torture, so he was disappointed in himself for letting the bound up skeleton escape.
It wouldn't happen again though, he swore to it.
"Dust."
The sharp voice cut through his thought of train by Death, who was standing a few feet behind him. Dust nearly screeched and jump from his boots, the skeleton gasping as he recovered.
"Lord almighty says 'nay' to that sort of treatment to me!" Dust yelled.
"You are so random," Death said, his pupils flicking to the small impact of where Dust was hit on his skull.
"I take pride in that, yes," Dust agreed.
Suddenly, a squeak came from Death's area of where he was standing as a stunk stuck it's small face out of his cloak, Dust looking down at it in confusion. The stunk then walked out of the cloak towards Dust, but something from inside of his cloak (Not Death's hand, since he wasn't bending down to grab him, so his hand didn't reach that far) suddenly grasped the small, cute animal and dragged him back inside, leaving the two of them in silence again.
"What was that?" Dust asked.
"My pet stunk, Stinky," Death explained, looking down at his cloak before he flattened it out, "It lives in my cloak."
"And it looks like I am not the only random one around here, it seems," Dust said, grinning at Death.
The skeleton then waved goodbye and stepped back, practically disappearing into the shadows before completely disappearing altogether. Dust watched him as he did, interested in how his powers worked.
Every vampire's powers worked in a different way. When a vampire's dark magic starts to overflow from their souls as a black magical goo substance, their bodies store it somewhere unique to them, so nobody's is the same. Error's black goo bonded with his bones, so his speed and reflexes are incredibly faster then ever before. He mainly uses those powers so people don't touch him, since he doesn't like being touched, period. His goo could be too hot to touch, so anybody that tries to get's burned immediately. The tar-like substance represents the person's inner desires the most, and shape around them to show their personality.
Killer's built up inside of his skull and leaked from his eyes, so he's a quick thinker and knows how to deal with certain situations. Not to mention his eye sight is terrific, he can spot heat spots in his sight and locate anyone nearby. And since it leaked from his eyes, it showed that he had most likely undergone a trauma during his past and had cried often. Probably because he was bullied as a child, that would explain it.
Killer didn't tell everyone much about it, but it had something to do with D.B. Killer had been born a vampire, and D.B had been his only friend that supported him, so he had turned her and they were the first children Error had brought in. They even had worked at the factory, doing child labor before it was converted into their base.
D.B's black goo only appeared when she used her powers or got angry, unlike everyone else's, and it appeared as whatever form she needed it to. She often chose cat ears and a tail, however, since those improved her senses and help increase her balance.
Nightmare's black goo hid what he really looked like, obviously a sign that he didn't want anyone to know his true identity. It linked into his desire to keep where he was hidden from Dream, thus shielding himself from anyone's gaze. And the tenticules helped him carry extra things, like picking up fellow vampires when they were acting like idiots, which happened quiet often.
However, Death himself was an utter mystery. He was as old as Error, possibly older, and that meant he was clearly old enough to have the black liquid somewhere. The question was where, and what did it do?
No, Dust wasn't a pervert, so he wouldn't go looking for it, but still, he was curious to what it did.
It didn't help that Death always wore a clock where ever he went. He slept with it, ate with it, trained with it, so all Dust could ever see was his face. And that face was terrifying when it suddenly appeared next to your shoulder and seemed to know exactly how you would die.
Maybe his goo was his cloak?
No, that would make no sense. The cloak itself wasn't magical, it was just a plain cloak that Death loved with all of his soul. It was most likely somewhere underneath the clothing item, maybe covering his arms or something like that.
Eh, who knows.
"Welcome to our little home!"
The blond stared around, wide eyed at the large room she was standing it. It was nicely decorated, most of it purple, judging by how the two girls that had saved her seemed to like purple, since they were wearing it.
"It's nice in here!" She pointed out.
"Don't be intimidated, just because we have a lot of decorations doesn't mean that we're Royalty, we're just commoners," Bubbly said, smiling at her.
"We just collect a lot of purple things when we can," PurpleFluffBall added on, gesturing to the purple couch, "Like this! We found it on sale!"
"Well, it's still nice in here," The blond said.
"You can sit down," The blue eyed female said, plopping down onto her couch that she was just talking about and patting the seat next to her, "I know healing magic, I can fix you up in no time."
"Thank you, for all of thiss."
The girl sat down gingerly, holding her injured arm in her other ad letting the purple haired girl start to work on healing her head injury. Bubbly made herself useful by grabbing a wet cloth and starting to dab away the blood from her many wounds.
"What happened?" The brown haired female asked her.
"I was attacked by some of the forces from that one Kingdom," She explained quietly, wincing as Bubbly dabbed an extremely injured part of her wing.
"Sorry," She apologized, "For me hurting you, and for that. But I heard that the King is retreating all of his forces, and that he's also closing his Kingdom from mostly trade and travel, that he's only keeping it open for food."
"That's good," She sighed with relief.
"Yeah, I think so too," PurpleFluffBall added, smiling at her as she finished her head.
"Oh, how rude of us!" Bubbly laughed, "What's your name?"
"M y n a m e i s . . ."
They look so amazing!
And I may of accidentally pressed publish instead of save when this had around 400 words, so if you saw that it published but it wouldn't load when you clicked on it, that was because I unpublished it, sorry!
And BOOM, look at my explanation for the goo stuff! I love how I shaped it into something that describes the person themselves! I'm so proud of myself! And I just went a little into depth how it worked more, since I wanted to clarify how it would work. Basically once you're old enough, or powerful enough, it overflows from your soul and becomes present somewhere on the body, but only for Monster vampires. Human souls are much stronger, so they can hold a lot more without it leaking out and it can be brought out. That's why D.B has none unless she wants to.
