Chapter 20 - Aware

So it was somehow awake?

Interesting.

He flicked on the light switch to his side, the room responding by lighting up almost immeadiatly. The cold pressed down against his bones, the smell of chemicals invading his sense of smell before anything else. The tapping continued by his creation before him, the glowing eyes of the robot not once leaving him as Sci approached the being.

It was a half built robot of a human, with fake hair and skin, along with glowing blue eyes. The tapping had ceased, presumably because they had spotted their creator amd acknowledged he was the cause of their existance. Since they were robot, and technically didn't really need clothing, he only had them wearing some leftover clothes a servant had. Their top half of their body wasn't even done, most of their right arm done and they didn't even have a left arm. A power generator was connected to their head through a thick cable, powering them since he had yet to create a main power source to place into their chest.

"So you're running already on such low power?" Sci asked, glancing at the single generator as he grew closer and closer to his machine, "I haven't even finished your body yet, and you're already up. That's impressive."

Sci was focusing on something else for his design. While Alphys had only focused on the war focus of the robot she had created, he was thinking more of it killing small groups of people, such as an assassin of sorts. This robot would be able to blend in with humans, be able to gather large amounts of information as well, and be able to take photos and send them with cameras he was installing into their hands.

There was only a slight problem.

He wasn't sure how to make them able to fake emotions.

That's what he was trying to figure out before he finished installing the rest if the body, along with how he would even get the machine to listen to him. He wanted to make it be able to fake emotions to make it convincing, and he had an idea on how he could possibly achieve that goal.

Except for the small detail that could ruin everything.

He placed a hand on his chin, his mind wondering over what he could do with it until it was complete. Obviously, it wouldn't be leaving the lab, since he didn't want anyone else, especially King Asgore, to find out what he had created.

If King Asgore did find the machine, Sci would use the excuse of assassin, then pretend that it was only a side expierement and carry on. To be honest, he was going to use the machine for his own selfish reasons.

To find a way to knock down the King from his position.

He was going to use her to find a weakness in the King in order to blackmail him, forcing him to open up all trade again. Once that was done, he would quickly flee to another Kingdom, using his mind to find him a good job and enjoy the freedom and peace with his brother and deactivate the robot. That was a reason why he didn't want to give it real emotions, since he wouldn't have any use for it once he was done with it. Sci was sure that the others would be able to lead the Kingdom and straighten it out. But he didn't want his younger brother to live in a place where seeing grass was rare at that point.

He was going to get out, and this robot was the key.

Sci was going to use it to seduce King Asgore and distract him while Sci looked for information to blackmail the goat man with. That's why he had to make it look more attractive, so he could hopefully make Asgore ignore the fact that it was 'human'. It wouldn't be hard to get his attention, making her seem half monster and half human, by giving her some monster features, it would certainly gain his attention.

Another reason to not give it real emotions, he needed this machine to spend large amounts of time with the King, and anyone with anger would have to constantly hold back the urge to punch him square in the face.

Which was a very difficult task.

However, he had to focus on the problem at hand. The robot was running, and that meant he had to figure out what to do with it until he was done with the arms and legs. Hr couldn't let it read a book, he didn't install the database yet, so it had no idea how to read. Practically, it had the intelligence of a toddler. So, that entertainment was not an option.

And with legs, it could possibly get hurt, much less wonder put of the lab and get into trouble, so that also was a no. And he couldn't even give it a hands on puzzle, since how would it solve it with no arms?

There was no option but to shut it off, Sci turning off the generator slowly, noting that a it didn't immeadiatly shut off, but instead slowly used up the remaining power it had been storing before shutting off a minute later.

That shows it was already able to save power into it's battery, that's also good.

"Don't worry, you'll be up and about soon enough..." He said softly, watching his creation's eyes dimming without the source of power to light them up.

"Until then, I'll have a lot of work to do."

~~~~~~
"Silica," A piercing voice said.
Her brown hair whipped her face as she turned around, her brown eyes focusing on the tall skeleton standing in the doorway, a red gloved hand resting on the door frame while the other was gingerly rubbing his neck, blocking her view of it.
"What are you doing here so late?" Silica asked.
"You can leave the Kingdom and escape," Edge said hopefully.
She froze, her eyes widening as she processed his words. She... She could...?
She could be free?
The meer thought of that was like a distant dream that no one in their land could even possibly think was a reality, so it was weird hearing those words, and it sounding so hopeful.
"Escape?" She whispered, pressing out her cigarette under her heel on the floor.
She didn't care about the library anyway.
"Yeah, escape," He confirmed, briskly walking into the room, "Asgore said he wants a spy in on a meeting going on, someone who's committed crime and is terrified of saying no to the King. That's you. You just have to act scared of him and act loyal, then get to another Kingdom and tell them what's going on."
"Oh my gosh, I could be free!" Silica said, before her small smile quickly vanished, "But what about your realitive and my friend? We haven't found them yet?"
"I... I'm not allowed to go with you, I'll stay behind, I'll find them," Edge said, "You can go and tell them what's really going on in here, with everything, I'll find them."
"Are you sure?" Silica asked, raising an eyebrow, "I don't want to but can you with it, and I don't want to leave without them."
"It's better if one of us leave instead of none of us, we need outside help," Edge said, grabbing her arm, "You just need to act terrified of the King for a little bit and you should get it."
"That sounds pretty stupid, I ain't scared of nobody," Silica said before she caught sight of his injured neck, "But you're hurt, aren't you?"
"It's nothing, I'll handle it later," He said, bringing her to the door.
She suddenly pressed into his neck harshly, making him hiss in pain and smack away her hand. Edge then glared at her.
"Why'd you do that?" He barked out, rubbing it slowly.
"I know a bad injury when I see one, stop complaining and at least wrap it up with something, it'll make me look more 'nice and nervously cliché' too. It'll bd good for both of us."
She quickly went to the corner of her room where a medical case was sitting there, pulling out a roll of bandages and tossing them to Edge, who caught them.
"I gatta go brush my hair, make myself look decent I guess," Silica said, waving as she walked to her bathroom, "Haven't really brushed in a week, but whatever."
"I'm not a hair expert-"
"'Cause you have none, you're as bald as the leave-less trees outside."
"-But hair should be brushed everyday, it's a health thing."
"Living here ain't very healthy either."
"Well, I'm done," Edge said, finishing wrapping up his neck, "Are you done?"
"Just about," Silica said, walking out while chewing a piece of piece of mint gum.
"Thought you hated gum," Edge chuckled.
"Just 'cause I was talking while I was chewing gum and choked on it once doesn't mean I hate it," Silica said.
"Well, let's get going," Edge said, throwing open her front door.
~~~~~~

"It looks like Silica is going to try and escape her Kingdom. What a traitor."

"What should we do about her?"

"I'll handle her myself. You go and make sure the transport is ready."

"Of course."

《》《》《》

I just want to say real quick, before anything else, that monsters can absorb human souls, but don't become god-like in this story. Human souls are still stronger because of their determination, yes, and monsters can still absorb them, but they just don't get very stronger, just a little boost in energy and determination, really.

Like I did in the Office, I want to draw certain scenes to help readers visualize the story and to also help me improve my art! You have no idea how hard the glowing eyes were, took me as long as tracing and coloring, couldn't get them quite right.

And if I ever learn how to animate, I will totally come back and make an animation for some of these stories, or if I learn how to edit I'll make an AMV for this. But I probably won't, I don't have the resources.

LIKE A RULER

Anyway, I'm gunna try to include more pictures in this story, and if a person draws a scene for this I'll include it and give them credit.

Welp, it's the end of the chapter now, have a nice day!
