Chapter 29 – Valerie’s P.O.V

Harry’s head is on my chest when I wake up in the morning. His arm is protectively wrapped around my waist, soft snores leaving his plump lips as he practically lays on me. I hold in my fangirl side and smile instead of squeal. Noticing the time, I sighed as I realized I was due for my little “date” with Niall. I didn’t want to leave Harry, especially after an amazing night, but I had to go so the boys wouldn’t get in any kind of trouble and the band wouldn’t be at risk.

Gently shifting him off of me, he groaned before rolling over onto his side, his back facing me as he stuffed his face in the pillow. I chuckled slightly, standing from the bed and praying the little squeak didn’t wake him. I stretched my body, trying to get motivated to actually do something.

“Where are you going?” Harry murmured and I glanced over my shoulder to see he was now facing me, his eyes opened and full of disappointment.

            “Niall—“

“Oh,” he cut me off, not letting me finish.

I pursed my lips, slowly nodding as I walked to my bag. I left it here in Harry’s room before, and I was thankful that some nice clothes were in it. Turning back at Harry, he’s still staring at me as I bit my lip, holding my clothes in my hand. Harry gets the message and laughed before he rolled onto his stomach, burying his face in the pillows once more.

I quickly changed out of his clothes for pajamas, still getting the aroma of mint and cologne. Harry really does smell good, even as weird as that sounds, but hey, I’m a fangirl. I have the right to say incredibly creepy things, don’t I?

“Are you done yet?” Harry grumbled.

“Yep,” I said, turning to face his mirror as I situated my hair.

“You look lovely,” Harry complimented and I could see him in the mirror as I smiled back at him.

            “Thanks, Styles.”

Harry gave me a weak smile before nodding, and I knew the Niall thing was still bothering him. Gaining a little confidence and trying to soothe his nerves, I walked over and planted a gentle peck on his lips. Harry seemed a little shocked that I made a move (but I did last night, so I guess I really am getting used to this), but he quickly recovered from shock with a wide grin.

“I’ll miss you,” he whimpered as he leaned up to kiss me once more, playfully pulling me down onto the bed with him. I giggled as he gently kissed all over my face, my nose, cheek, temple, and lips.

“Stop being distracting,” I laughed as I playfully swatted his shoulder.

“I can’t help it. Your face is just so kissable,” he smirked before planting another soft kiss on my lips.

I smiled as I stood from the bed, but Harry’s face instantly fell. I sighed as I gave him an assuring smile. “It’s just fake, remember? I’ll be back later, most likely. If not, then tomorrow.”

“Later,” Harry said quickly as he propped himself up on his elbows. “I want you to stay with me again.”

I smiled, but then realization hit me as I groaned. “I have school, child, and I’m missing this entire week because of management. Do you know how much makeup work I probably have?”

“You can do it here,” he said as he stood, standing shirtless in only pajama pants in front of me. He laced his fingers with mine as he pressed our foreheads together. “Please stay with me again, Valerie. I won’t be here for much longer and I need to see you as much as possible,” he whispered.

My heart clenched as I remembered Harry had merely a few days left with me before he hit the stadium for the tour. I couldn’t bring myself to decline his offer, I just hoped Mom would cave too.

“Okay,” I said quietly, a small tugging at my lips.

Harry’s face was instantly painted with a grin as he pulled me into his chest for an embrace. He kissed the top of my head before parting, then pecking my lips for the umpteenth time this morning. He stared at me a moment, his dimpled smile never leaving his lips before he lightly chuckled, shaking his head.

            “What?”

“Nothing,” he murmured as his cheeks tinted a faint red color. He pulled his lower lip between his teeth as his eyes met mine. “I just… I think it’s funny how I just met you last week and so much crap has managed to happen.”

I nodded in agreement, raking my fingers through my hair. “I think it’s funny how a week and a day ago I was crying about getting to see you in concert, and now I’m standing in your freaking hotel room.”

Harry laughed, his eyes crinkling some as the sound rolled pleasantly through my ears. I’ve longed to hear his laugh in person for so long, and my wish has come true multiple times now. “You’re something else, Valerie,” Harry chuckled as he kissed my nose. His face went serious as he locked our hands once more, bring them up to where they were level with our locked foreheads. “You promise you’ll stay again?”

“I’ll try to beg my mom,” I told him, giving him the best smile I could muster.

Harry smiled in return. “Okay,” he said before lightly kissing my hand. “I’ll see you later, then…?”

I could hear the hurt lacing his voice, but I managed to give him a small nod. Harry sighed before licking his lips and pursing them together, slowly stepping away from me. I leaned over and kissed him once more for reassurance, earning a weak smile in return before I muttered my goodbyes and exited his room.

Niall was in the kitchen eating some pancakes when I walked in. “Hey, Val. I was about to come wake you, actually.”

I gave him a smile as I slid into the seat next to him. “I just woke up, and I kind of remembered it, I suppose.”

            Niall smiled weakly.

“Do you know where we’re going?”

“Oh, yeah, um…” he pondered as he pulled up a screen on his phone. “Oh, um, today is actually a beach day with all the boys.”

My heart nearly leaped out my chest as I smiled. “Really?”

            He nodded.

“I’ll go tell Harry,” I said and he nodded once more with a grin before I jumped out my seat. “Harry, guess what child!” I beamed as I entered his room. He was sitting on his bed with his hands clasped, his forearms resting on his knees. I frowned as he looked utterly depressed. “What’s wrong?”

He turned to me with a small smile. “Nothing… now. What’s going on?”

“It’s a beach day,” I beamed as I walked over to him. “We all get to go to the beach for the day. Isn’t that cool?”

Harry’s smile faltered as he looked away from me. “Yeah, erm… It’s great. I’ll just get changed.”

I frowned, resting my hand on his bare shoulder. “Harry, what’s wrong now? I know the Niall thing is bothering you, but why are you upset over the beach? Don’t you like the beach?”

“Of course I like the beach,” he muttered, then shook his head. “You’ll just laugh at me, Valerie.”

“Of course I won’t, Harry. You’re my idol, okay? If you laugh, I laugh. If you cry, I cry. I basically just mimic you.”

Harry smiled slightly before giving me a small shrug. “I don’t know… I just… I thought if we ever went to the beach together, we’d be like those really cliché and sappy romance movies… You know… where I would spin you around and make you laugh, and we’d splash each other or whatever… We’d just be having fun, together. But… we can’t really do that now,” he practically whispered as his jaw tensed.

Harry wanted to be like romance movies? The thought alone was enough to make me smile like an idiot.

I gingerly grabbed his chin and turned him to face me. “Harry, we can always have a beach day of our own one day. You know… when all of this blows over and the tour is over…” I hoped I sounded convincing enough, and I really do pray that Harry and I will see each other again in the future.

Harry gave me a weak grin, but then sighed as he raked his fingers through his hair. “But what if this never ends, Valerie? What if I’ll never be able to have you in public like I want you? I want to be with you so damn bad,” he grumbled as his hands balled into tight fists.

My heart continuously melted, but I managed to keep my cool. “Don’t doubt it, Harry.”

“Valerie… what if… what if even after the tour, what if I never see you again?” he croaked out as he stared at me, nothing but worry filling his emeralds.

“You can’t think like that, Harry. Faith, remember?” I told him with a small smile, hoping he’d return one.

“Valerie, please just remember that I do care for you. With all my heart I do, and I don’t even see how it’s possible to like someone so much in so little time, but it’s true. You’ve changed my entire world in a matter of eight days, and I don’t even know how to prove it to you. You just… I think…” he sputtered on his words as I desperately waiting to hear them, my heart nearly pounding out of my chest.

“Oi! You love birds ready to go?” Louis’ loud voice came from the doorway as both of us jumped.

Harry sighed before looking away from me. I managed to give Louis a smile. “Yeah, um… but I don’t have a bathing suit.”

Louis smirked. “We’ll just have to buy you one, yeah? We can stop by Walmart or something on the way.”

I gave him a smile and nodded, hoping Harry would finish telling me what he started. He doesn’t. Instead, he gets up without a word, grabs his swimming trunks, and heads to the bathroom to change. Silent the entire time.
