Blockers Stop Working - MHA
Shoto was nearly positive that everyone was staring at him, everyone had been chattering or focused on the homework. He kept tapping his pencil, feeling embarrassed by the eyes locked on him, that was until he heard Mineta.
"Are you not a beta?"
Shoto's eyes widened in horror. Midnight stopped her lesson abruptly, and looked at Shoto with wide eyes. "Todoroki, go to the office." Shoto got up quickly and bolted towards the principal's office. On his way there nearly every door along the hallway opened as he passed, ice covered the halls.
Mr. Principal looked up in surprise as his door shot open. "Young Todoroki?"
"I- I think my blockers stopped working..." He was having a panic attack, that much was clear. Nezu jumped from his seat and raced towards him. "Everyone knows... My whole class knows."
"Young Todoroki, I need you to calm down."
Shoto continued to breathe heavily, he was on his knees, trying to think about how his blockers could just stop working. An omega had never been accepted into the program, omegas weren't supposed to be heroes, at least that was what the people said. There had been very few omega heroes, and while Shoto knew he would be proud when he became a hero. He also didn't want people to look down at him just because he was an omega.
Now his pack, his tight knit family, knew. They knew exactly what he was. The one thing he hadn't wanted to do was to let them know like this. He was waiting for the right time, one day back at the dorms.
"Todoroki, you're okay."
"They know.. They all know..."
"You're okay, your packmates, they are your family, they care for you. They will want to protect you, they will want to support you."
"I- I don't want them to worry about me like they would with me being an omega.... They... They are going to look at me like I'm nothing... Like I'm a weak child that needs protection."
"You are no weak child, you are an omega pup who is very strong. I know you are strong, the rest of them know you are strong. We have all seen you protect your classmates, we all know what you're capable of." Nezu took Shoto's shaking hands in his own. "I've got you."
"Will they... Are they going to be angry at me for lying?"
"Not any angrier than they would be if you put yourself in danger by flaunting it. You of all people should know that your designation and your families do not define you."
Shoto lowered his head to the floor, still trying to breathe. "What will happen when I walk out there?"
"They will stand by you, and support you."
Todoroki continued to try and breathe, he knew very well he was in over his head. "H-how can my blockers stop working?"
"At some point in many heroes' lives they are unable to use blockers. Their quirks limit blockers, and at some point some of them are unable to even hold blockers anymore. It seems you are one of them."
"I just.. I want to be okay.. I want it to go back to how life was before..."
"I am sorry, but I don't think that is going to be how life will be for you. I do however think, young Shoto, that your friends.. Your pack will be there for you."
Shoto sighed, and kept sobbing. His body was shaking, and he was scared. The blockers were gone, which meant his omega scent was in full force. Nezu held the crying child, until there was a knock at his door.
"Mr. Principal, can we come in?"
"That sounds like your classmates now." He said softly. "I believe that was young Midoriya."
Shoto looked towards the door. "I'm... I'm okay.. They can come in...."
Nezu nodded and stepped back. "You're all welcome, come on in now."
The students of 1A rushed in, nearly falling over one another. "Shoto!" They all cried together. Shoto was surprised that they all wrapped their arms around him.
"Icy Hot... You're.. You're an omega?"
"Yeah... I am.. I'm sorry fo-."
"Don't apologize for who you are." Bakugo hissed. "Icy Hot, you're everything."
Shoto blushed, and then he felt Kirashima and Momo snuggle into him a bit. "You're amazing." Midoriya said with a grin. "We didn't know you were an omega, but that doesn't mean that you aren't as awesome as you were before we knew."
"Being an omega isn't what I want to define me."
"We would never put you in a box like that." Iida said softly. "We know you're strong. So strong." Shoto was sobbing, he couldn't believe he was being supported by his classmates. He honestly thought the moment they knew, they would ask for him to be kicked from their class.
"We all have a quirk, it makes us different. Not all of us are alphas, not all of us are betas, and having an omega in our pack helps us be more balanced. It gives us more of a reason to fight, but we wouldn't stop letting you perform at your best just because of your designation." Momo said with a grin as she held him.
The other kids yelled in agreement.
Jiro nodded. "We want to protect you, because you're our packmate, we don't see you as a weak person. We know how strong you are."
Shoto continued to sob into their arms. They each snuggled into him, even Bakugo stayed in the cuddle pile just so he could stay close to Shoto. Even Mineta was choosing not to be weird about snuggling with the rest of the pack just for Shoto at that moment. Aizawa was rushing up the stairs and stopped dead in his tracks as he walked into the office. Midnight had told him what happened, and how they all took off after him. He smiled softly, trying not to give his feelings towards what was going on away. He admired his pups of 1A so greatly. He knew they all would do great things.
He too had wondered if Shoto's scent blockers were starting to become obsolete, every so often he would catch his scent. He hid his smile as he watched the pups snuggle into Shoto, every one of them were happy to be beside one another. Even young Bakugo was smiling and laughing with the others while Shoto continued to cry into his pack mates arms. "I thought you would all hate me."
"We could never hate you." They muttered softly. "We are a pack, you are an important part of it. Without you, we wouldn't have someone so level headed and careful. You keep us safe too, we all know how strong you are. You're one of the strongest ones here."
Shoto's face was red, he was trying to grin through the tears however. Nezu, Midnight, and Aizawa watched them from the doorway. The three adults knew very well that this group of students had already been through so much. They also knew, just based on how they acted and worked so well together at this age, that they would be one of the strongest groups of young heroes the future would ever see.
Shoto included.
