Stargazing - Percy Jackson

Percy tied a bandanna around Annabeth's eyes as she crossed her arms. "Seaweed Brain, what are you up to this time?"

Percy smirked. "It's a surprise. Can't tell you."

Annabeth groaned, but it was a good natured groan. She knew that whatever her boyfriend had up his sleeve, it had to be good. It would be difficult to top their last few dates, each more memorable than the last.

She remembered Percy's attempt at baking a cake-- blueberry, of course. He had roped Leo into helping, for reasons Annabeth couldn't fathom.

When she had accidentaly walked in on them, she found Leo in nothing but his slightly smoking underwear. Percy had soot and ash dusting his face and hands, and the smouldering remains of something with the barest resemblance to a cake was on the blackened counter in front of them. You didn't have to be a daughter of Athena to guess what had happened.

After banishing Leo to put some clothes on, Annabeth got to work helping Percy clean up. Once that was done, she got out some fresh ingredients and she and Percy started mixing up a fresh batch.

They probably had more fun baking the cake than eating it. That isn't to say, however, that after they pulled their blue, lopsided cake out of the oven with flour-dusted hands, it was probably one of the most delicious things they'd ever tasted.

Then there was the memorable Game Night. They decided to quadruple-date with the rest of the seven, plus Calypso. After a long discussion, they finally settled on Monopoly.

It didn't go well. After Frank getting stuck as a turtle for an hour when he couldn't buy any properties, Percy flooding the bathroom when he went bankrupt, Jason zapping the game board with lightning when he landed on Leo's hotel on Boardwalk, and Leo retaliated with fire, the girls were all pretty much done with Game Night.

But the boys held it together. After cleaning things up, Percy and Frank made popcorn (with a few burns in the process), while Leo and Jason made a pillow fort in front of the TV.

And Game Night turned into Movie Night.

Now Annabeth was incredibly curious as to what her boyfriend was up to. What was he being so secretive about?

Percy took her hand and led her outside, where the warm night air mingled with a cool breeze. She followed Percy up a hill, where they finally stopped.

Annabeth smiled as Percy untied the bandanna. She had an inkling of what this date night must be.

"Ta-da!" Percy gestured dramatically at the ground, where he had spread a picnic blanket then at the vast expanse of twinking stars above them. "Stargazing tonight!"

As they lay down side-by-side on the blanket, their hands clasped together, Percy pointed his free hand at a particular constellation. "That's Orion's Belt."

Annabeth was surprised that he knew that. "I'm impressed, Percy. You did your research."

Percy grinned the mischevious grin that Annabeth adored. "I was hoping that I would be rewarded for my knowledge with a kiss."

Annabeth gave him just that.

After an intense kissing session, they lay there, holding hands and staring at the sky above.

Annabeth spoke first. "It's weird, isn't it. Seeing these constellations, and knowing that the stories behind some of them are true."

Percy was quiet for a while before speaking. "Yeah. It makes you feel small, doesn't it. Below all this..." He waved his hand at the sky. "You feel sorta insignificant."

Annabeth nodded. "Maybe... But even the most insignificant thing can have a huge impact. And insignificant or not, we're together."
