Page 46: Heroes, huh? Pt 1

Fandom: My Hero Academia

I'll try my best to keep it tame and casual. But I will put some pretty boring themes to get a dull feeling to it because it's my personal take of what adulthood would be like minus all the bad things that happened in the anime.

Basically after everything what everyone is doing. They'll be like the comic breaks where I go back and forth from different things.

7 years ago, Class 1-a

3rd person P.O.V

"Oh come on Ash! You can think of a cooler name than that."

"There isn't any cooler names Bakugo! QuickWaters is the best one out there!"

"Hey! I thought you said mine was cool!"

"It is, QuickWaters is the best name for me!"

The two went back and forth. There wasn't really a reason why Bakugo didn't like Ashley's name, he just didn't. Like most things.

"I-I like it guys! Everyone else does too! L-let's just relax. Ashley it's a nic-"

"SHUT UP YOU STUPID DEKLE!!! ITS A GREAT NAME! ITS JUST SHE CAN DO BETTER!"

"Bakugo, I'm keeping name purly for the fact it annoys you now."

Ashley then proceeded to walk back to her seat that was in between Kate and Shoto. Ashley looked over at her future husband seeing a hint of jealousy in his eyes. She held his hand.

Why did the main two guys in her life have to be on two completely different ends of the spectrum? One being explosive with emotion and the other being a doll that breathes.

"Now that.. that's over. Kate it's your turn"

The teacher only got a snoring in response. Ashley nudged Kate arm.

"Dude, wake the fuck up. Its your turn"

Kate lifted her head up, she wasn't asleep her nose was just stuffed and she felt sick. She rubbed her eyes a bit and cleared out her nose enough that she stood up with her bored and got in front of the class.

She's been feeling anxious all week seeing as this was going to come up soon. The butterflies in her stomach turned to razors she got sick and more anxious about what her name would be and how she'd probably be known as that forever.

Even while she was writing she had the urge to erase it all and just jump out the window.

But heroes don't back down. And she's one of them.

"My name-"

She sniffed.

"will be Whirlwind"

Silence.

"I swear you and Ashley suck at naming things."

"The fuck was that!?" Ashley was quick to get up, release her fiance's hand, and growl at her unsuspecting classmate. "I swear you have a thing for insulting us! This is the tenth time today alone! What did we do to you!?"

"Ashley please no! You're going to flood the building!!! I'm still paying for breaking that bakery's windows when I was trying to blow out that candle!"

My stepsister's rage was turned at me in a blink of an eye "What do you mean 'still'!? That was on your birthday last year!"

The urge to laugh and cry at the same time started overcome me "I'm in so much debt!"

7 years later, Present Day, in front of burning buildings (Aren't I good at emotional transitions?)

Kate's P.O.V

I looked on sadly.

I watched as Ashley put out some buildings along with Shoto.

I watched as Bakugo tried his best to hold back press so they wouldn't be disturbed. It was hard since when he would yell at them they would just scream about how he's their favorite hero and to do it more.

I watched because I couldn't do anything..

I stared down at my charred arm and burnt suit.

I was going to be in the hospital for a long time, I know I will. It's one of those things where it hurts so much I can't feel a side of my body anymore but I know eventually when the adrenaline wears off it's all I'm going to feel.

But it was worth it. Those kids are with their mother, where they belong, and their pets are safe.

It may not be the happiest situation but at least all of them are together and got out with mild injuries.

I can't say the same for some other people. Not only did someone lose their house but they also lost their leg.

It was a sad sight. I kept away from it to not get more hurt or get in the way and told all the ambulances and paramedics to care for the civilians before they get to me.

I watched this as this house in front of me continue to burn. I gave a sad smile as I inhale deeply and blew the fire out like a candle. Leaving behind a black and burnt house with ashes scattering it that were people's belongings.

Candle..

Like the one time..

My brain, being the optimists that I am, attempted to fill my head with happy memories.

I should probably get out of here, I can't help with the crowd since I'm injured and I can't help with the fires since I was told to stay out the way.

I'm no use right now. I do have to write that report thou-

"Whirlwind?! Whirlwind!! I have a few questions for you, please can you-!?"

I looked behind me as the young teen falling to her knees as she trips. I stopped for a few seconds.

"Yeah, I can answer just a few.. but I need to be going after"

Since Ashley and Shoto will be dealing with the police and a few other things and Bakugo's still holding of the press, I needed to go back to our company and make a report of the situation.

The young teen looked at me with stars in her eyes. Literally, her pupils are literally stars. Stars in her eyes.

"O-oh thank you! My first question, How did you learn to control your power. How to not go to overboard?"

I smiled softly. "It's like anybody's quirk, really. It's just something you grew up with and eventually get the basics of it. But I think mine's mostly comes from the fact that I was too scared to go overboard or go out of control so it took a while to actually put my power into basic standards."

The girl smiled, she looked like she has inspired as she wrote down her notepad.

"Next question! There were rumour that you and Ashley we're going to eventually be partners. Is that true?"

"Yes, it's actually going to be official in a week or so that I'm her sidekick. We purposely had to delay it because.. reasons I can't really get into"

The girls seem to be reaching for the sky, jumping for joy. "So are you telling me I'm getting classified information before it's actually out!? I feel so special!!"

I nervously laughed. I really need to get going. "I-is that all?"

The girl smiling to herself in a dizzy daze nodded her head. "Yes, yes. Thank you! Thank you! Not every day I get to talk to my favorite hero!"

I backed up a little and waved her a goodbye as I quickly took flight into the air.

"And thank you for putting out my house!!!!"

Being a little too high in the air I heard her say something but didn't know exactly what she said.

Fans. They can get in the way sometimes but you have to appreciate them.

Only when I was halfway away from the agency I realized I still need to be checked up on.

'Damnit..'

I thought about just stopping at the nearest hospital. I thought about going home and waiting for Ashley to heal me in the morning when she checked up on me. But both of those will take too long and the report won't be made.

I settled for just going to the company and waiting for Ashley there. I'll get the report done and I get to be taken care of faster.

With my arms outstretched I leaned a little to the left as I prepared to make a landing on top of the building.

As I did I felt the need to stumble forward as sharp pain stab itself in my knee. How did that even get there? And how didn't I notice it before? I was walking perfectly fine earlier! My suit isn't even burnt there! Multiple questions and multiple responses that only made more questions pop up in my head as I just considered it random injury that I have and proceeded to limp into the building.

It could just be the fact the pain is starting to unnumb in creatin spots.

A few minutes later, Office Department

I hurried past worried, annoyed, and anxious coworkers to my desk as I sat down finally giving my burnt leg a rest. I took a deep breath in stared at my computer. As I begin logging in my password and proceed to go to the reported files tab then something dawned on me.

This was my life now, I dreamed to be a hero and.. here I am.

This isn't something I just realized it's actually something I think about often.

I stopped for a second and looked up away from a screen and around me. The office cubicle level of the building wasn't the most... interesting.. me and Ashley occasionally have to go down here to make our own reports but other than us everybody here is pretty dull or... quirkless. The one's with quirks are mostly related to office stuff.

It's kind of why I get weird looks when I come down here to write stuff for to make copies. Some people here are super strict. They hate it when Ashley and I come down here in our superhero outfits or with injuries that are super visible because it gets people scared. I keep explaining to them that changing and getting treated on spot at the crime or act of heroism is a waste of time.

And people stay clear of Ashley when she goes down here to get coffee.

Turning back around in my chair and back to my computer I found it hard to focus.

Looking up at the ceiling again tapping my fingers on the desk as if it was a drum I thought about what my fiance was doing.

Stopping a villain?

Making dinner?

Waiting for me to come home?

I brought a smile to my face. He always brings a smile to my face.

"Watch it!"

I suddenly felt the back of my chair being pushed forward along with me as someone pushed passed.

I stopped myself from face planting into my desk by putting my foot towards the floor. I hissed and pain and shut my eyes tight. Wrong leg..

"Damn heroes.."

As I readjust myself hearing those words I instantly knew who did it.

...Todd.....

He was a quirkless, divorced, incel, woman-hater shell of a man. Since me and Ashley are usually the ones coming into the office since Ashley's pretty fast at typing and I don't mind to break or two away from the action we're basically supervisors down here and we're the main thing he hates.

Quirk users with useful powers who have happy relationships and are a strong independent women.

What a disgrace to society we are.. I say sarcastically

"Nice to see you too, Todd"  I smile at him as he glared at me.

"Bitch"

I laughed nervously as I turned back to my computer and began typing up what happened.

Date: Aug 4, 2019

Incident: Fire

Cause: Misuse of quirk

Causer: Unknown

Time: 1:18 a.m.

Heroes involved: QuickWaters, Whirlwind, and Shoto

Injuries sustained: A few pretty bad burns and suits are ripped in some areas.

Damaged caused by incident: 3 or possibly more neighborhoods burnt to the ground and many people are critically injured, in need of homes, or have loss of family members.

Deaths:

.....

Deaths: 83

I was never a huge fan of writing reports for things like this. Thinking about how many people lost their lives and how we couldn't save them it gives you a heavy heart.

83 people. Burnt to a crisp.

I closed my eyes for a second and continued writing.

My throat felt dry and I had the sudden need for water. I felt my breath pick up and the feeling of air escaping my lungs the more breaths I took.

Then suddenly I flinched as a hand touched my shoulder and I reacted by punching whoever did it in the stomach.

"Damnit Kate, chill out.."

I continue to breathe quickly, adrenaline rushing in me as the pain from my burns started to settle in.

"Kate relax, it's me"

My eyesight was pretty blurry but I was able to make out a white haired figure staring at me with an annoyed and concerned face.

"Ashley..?"

"Who else?"

I watch as the white-haired blurry figure replace their hand back on my shoulder again and I felt my eyesight start to clear up.

"You look like you were having a panic attack, almost lost ya there.."

She put her another hand on my shoulder and I began feeling my burns feel less and less painful and before long they were gone. She then released me.

"You okay?"

I looked around the office again, everyone was either trying to ignore me or were looking directly at me.

"I-.. uhh"

"Go home"

"But-"

"Kate, I'll do the report. Go home before Deku starts blowing your phone up, I'll get Shoto to give you a ride"

I stared up at my stepsister in my seated. She being stubborn and correct in other words wasn't going to let this down. I nodded, collecting my things in making my way back downstairs her following behind.

As we waited downstairs I saw Shoto leaning against his car looking at his phone.

Ashley walked ahead of me and kissed him on the cheek. "I'm going to stay back and work, can you take Kate home? She's not in the best state to fly right now."

He looked at her and then at me and nodded. "Should I say goodnight to the kids for you?"

"Nah, I won't be long. I'll do it myself"

I smiled a little to myself. Chase and Eliza have good people taking care of them. Even though they're not really their kids they treat them as if they were.

Shoto walked over to the passenger side and open the door. "Come on, Kate"
