*Kate's p.o.v*

"AAHHHHH-"

Ashley screams as she fell down the hole was suddenly cut off by a loud thud as she hit the ground. I sat there unable to move from fear of the floor falling from under me like it did with Ashley.

Take a deep breath I slowly got the courage to move one step then then more as I made my way to the sinkhole, shutting my eyes tight. "Please dont be dead. Please don't be dea-"

I took a peek into the hole is it pitch-black. It was so dark I put my hand a few inches in and I couldn't see anymore, I then realized even if she was alive how would I get her out.

Anxiety started to take over as I realized I'm already failing as a dimension guardian since my so called 'partner in crime' is possibly dead, I have no idea where I am, and whoever needs help in here it's probably just as lost as we are.

After examining my options I go for the stupidest yet best one.

"ASHLEY ARE OKAY!?" No response.

"ASH! IF YOU'RE ALIVE SAY SOMETHING!" I felt pale and lightheaded from yelling so loud and from looking down too long and I started to feel dizzy.

'Please be alive'

A jolt of surprise yet relief washed over me as I heard a faint, weak, and slightly sarcastic yell back at me.

"Something!" I heard her voice say from down the hole

"Oh thank you! I thought you were dead it scared me half to death!"

"Well I probably am dead so, ha" The noise and mockery of laughter was weak as I heard her start to cough.

"Are you okay!?" I look down at the gadget belt we were given each and look for a rope in one of the the pouches.

"I just fell to my possible death! What do you think!?"

Even though it may seem this may seem like playful banter, but Ashley genuinely doesn't like me. Hate even.

I don't think it's me that's the problem, just the situation we were thrown into. When we first officially met it was at a party our friends basically ditched us for each other and we tried to make conversation.

Long story short didn't work out well next time I saw her she was being dragged out the house by a couple of drunk guys to a lake. After being thrown in the water, I went to help her and she told me to screw off but just like now she fell into a hole into the ground. I went after her and helped her up despite her complaining.

After I helped her up, we saw a glowing gem. It broke into 4 pieces. 2 shards flew out us after a second or so a red flash appeared.

A glowing cube was in front of us.

At that time my friends came out looking for me it yelled at me to get out of the hole. I told him I couldn't and asked if they could see the floating block. They said they couldn't see anything and looked at me like I was on drugs.

I turned to Ashley and she was staring at her wrist I didn't know why at the time but that's where the gem piece went in.

I went and touched the cube then all of a sudden we are here. I guess she kind of doesn't like me because I'm the one that brought her into this mess but as I recall what happened and noticed the situation we were in... I can't help to get sudden feel of deja vu.

Her being inside a hole and me trying to help her out. Only I can help without throwing myself in.

"Rope- rope! Theres gotta be a rope!" I start panicking more. I'm starting to run out of pockets to look through.. why is there no rope! Wait-!

"Ashley!? Do you see the rope I just threw down!?"

"No! I can't see 5 ft ahead of me let alone a rope!"

"Turn on your flashlight!"

"I did! It's been on!"

"ASHLEY!!! WHAT DO I DO!!? I'M SCARED WHAT IF I CAN'T GET YOU OUT!?"

"YOU'RE SCARED!? IM SCARED! IM THE ONE WHOSE LIFE IS ON THE LINE!"

"Um.. excuse me miss what's going on?"

I turn to look at guy with three others behind him all looked around my age. He had chestnut colored hair, hazle golden eyes, and pale skin. I could tell he was the leader from how he stood in front of the people that were with him. He was wearing a white shirt and black pants with brown sneakers.

"O-oh um.. my friend fell down this hole and needs help.." I was nervous as I didn't know these people and they could be dangerous.. but at the same time they could help us.

The girl in the group of guys smiled a little seemingly as if she remembered something. "Yeah.. been there done that" She gave a small laugh "We can help"

The girl was short and pale. Like almost Ashley's height short and pale. She had red hair she hints of gold in it, her eyes were a forest light green. She was wearing dark brown pants and a black shirt, her shoes a rose color like red.

The short female reached her hand out to me "I'm April" She goes to stand next to the one who asked if I needed help.

"This is Freddy, his the unspoken leader"

Another guy, who had blonde hair that seemed to fit his baby blue eyes and was wearing a black hoodie with a skull on it and black jeans with rips, raise an eyebrow slightly "But you just spoke-"

April quickly turned around and looked him straight in the eye "Shut up Damien"

I had a feeling she said that a lot to him. The blond, Damien, shrugs and stuffed his hands into his hoodie pockets. His face was dull then he looked at me and plastered on a kind smile.

"Hey, I'm Damien," he points to the last male in the group who was quietly staring at the grassy ground attempting to be invisible. He had raven black hair, I couldn't see his eyes but I can only assume they were red, his shirt was a pale gray and his pants for a grayish green color. He seemed to be the smaller male in the group as he was just a little taller than April "That's L.E.D, we call him Lucas"

Lucas? How did they go from L. E. D to Lucas? That's weird. They all look super pale like they haven't seen the sun in a while, besides Freddy he was a tiniest bit more tan and had a little more color to his cheeks.

L.E.D or Lucas looked up at me before quickly turning his eyes back to the ground. I was right about the eyes. Damian seemed to grimace before looking at me with a apologetic smile "His shy"

I nod my head as I hold out my hand to Freddy "Nice to meet you. I'm Kate, and my frien- partner Ashley is the one who fell in"

I had to catch myself from saying friend since it seems we're more coworkers then friends. Hell, the title 'partners' was a stretch.

Freddy, accepting my hand shake, nodded his head as he listened. "Yeah.. April fell down here once. The only way for us to really get her out is to go through the second entrance, the back door of the cave if you will."

Just by the way he was explaining all this to me it was blatantly clear that Freddy was the most mature out the group. He turned to the other three and talked out a plan. For the first time since this whole conversation started Lucas looked up from the ground and put his full attention onto Freddy.

"Lucas, April. You're going to take.. Kate to the second entrance of the cave and lead her to where her comrade would be. Damien and I will stay here and keep her company and make sure she doesn't leave the spot" the three of them agreed as April already started to lead me away along with Lucas.

I looked back as we got a few feet away and stared at Freddy and Damien. Damian took a seat at the edge of a gaping hole as Freddy put his hands on his hips and look down as if analyzing it.

With a gentle tug of my arm April pulled me away from the scene as Lucas shyly followed a few steps behind us.

*Ashley's p.o.v.*

I stare into absolute darkness as tears slowly welled up in my eyes. My voice hurts from yelling up to Kate not too long ago and my legs felt as if they were broken. I couldn't see much of up, it's so dark that even sunlight can't reach where I am.

Kate's been quiet for a while but knowing her she wouldn't have gave up. My only assumption is she had a better idea than just jumping in which is a relief. If I'm going to be stuck inside a scary, dark, man-eating hole in the ground I rather be in it alone then with her. Because last time I fell into a hole with her I entered an entirely different dimension and frankly I don't even want to hear her voice.

Sitting there silently complaining to myself I heard a voice. "You okay down there!?" It was a male's so it couldn't be Kate. Which means she got lucky and there were people there to help... Could it be the people that we have to come here to help? Which is our only mission at the moment.

It's almost pathetic how even and the deepest place on Earth, if this even is Earth, the only thing I can think of is work. Work that isn't really mine, work that I shouldn't have to deal with, work that seems so simple yet nearly impossible to finish.

Sighing, I sit up from my position laying down on the ground attempting to squint and see the person yet as I stated before it's so dark down here even the monsters hiding are blind as fuck.

I calm down and rise what little voice I have left. "I'm okay! Who are you!?"

It took maybe half a minute before I got a response but this time from a different voice.

"I- I'm F-Freddy, the one who called out before is Damien! Your friend asked us to help you so she and two of our friends are on their way to get to you!"

He stuttered a little in the beginning, I wonder what that's about..

Part 2 is not in the making for I am only posting this to get the chapters/drafts I need to get out the way before school ends so I can start a Hiatus before summer starts and I have get back into the grind.
