She stared at the knife.

So sharp.

So pretty.

Maybe if she just- right before Ashley could reach out and grab it her mother cut her finger on the blade.

The young girl watched as her mother started to ooze out a red liquid on her hand.

Her mother seemed a bit panicked as she quickly smiled at the young girl grabs a towel and ran out of the room most likely to tend to her wound.

Ashley looks back at the knife. Not having a bit of concern or worry for her mother.

Though for the first time in history her eyes sparkled in amazement as she reached out for the blade.

Is this what happiness felt like? It was like she felt it exploding on the inside but it didn't show on the outside, not even the tiniest bit.

She picked up the knife. And though it had some of her mother's blood on it...

It looked so shiny. She looked at her reflection...

And she saw a smiling little girl.

Seeing this seemed to make Ashley confused but it didn't show on her expression.

Though the girl on the other side she gave her a confused look . . .

Was this her?

It couldn't be she didn't feel anything . . .

Though she knew if a normal person saw this they would give those expressions.

Was she just mimicking them?

Before she could inspect the knife any further she heard someone walk in. Though she didn't show any panic the girl on the other side did she look terrified?

"Hey" she heard a male and quiet monotone voice say from the entrance of the kitchen.

She looked over to see her father "Hello" she said with a similar monotone voice

Her dad bent down to her level and repositioned her hand to the point where the knife was right above her wrist.

He gave a smile. Ashley wanted to look surprised but she couldn't. All she could do was blankly staring at him.

"Its what I did. It's how I learned to love your mother."

Her father left the room leaving the young girl with a sharp knife.

By the time her mother came back the kitchen was covered with blood.

And Ashley was sitting and the floor with the same blank stare but if you looked close enough... she had just the smallest smile

~Flashback Over~

So it was her dad's fault she was like this...

He's the one who made her so empty but not has the ability to feel sad about it.

She looks back at the door the banging stopped though she could hear soft crying from the other side.

Still not feeling any regret or concern she felt her cheeks start to get itchy.

She removed the rope from her neck stepped off the chair and sat down on the floor.

She picked up a knife that was on the floor next to her. Looking into the sharp and shiny blade only to see a sad crying girl on the other side.

Why was she even doing this?

~Flashback~

Ashley confidently walked down the road towards her boyfriend's home proudly showing off one of her very rare and uncommon smiles.

Today was a very special day. It was her birthday. And surprisingly ever since the Titans came she started showing more emotion.

And made her sister happy knowing that she was getting better even though it basically took the end of the world to do so.

As she walked he has multiple good mornings and happy birthdays for other comrades and friends.

Soon she got to place she was trying to go she was about to walk through the door until she heard noises.

She may not understand emotions and swear every five sentences but she was very innocent and didn't really know what those noises meant.

All she knew was that it was a female's.

She softly opens the door only to see Eren making out with someone she didn't even know.

Suddenly every emotion that she had seemed to quickly drain out.

Her emotionless face returned. The one she had since she was a little girl.

An empty shell of a human.

A monster.

That's all she was.

And that's all she'll ever be.

Every family member who said so was right she looks exactly like her father.

And she wanted to die exactly as he did.

She wanted to die.

She can't feel pain.

She can't feel sadness.

She can't feel joy.

If she can't feel anything where's the point in living.

Where's the point in having a sister who cares if you can't show her that you care back.

What's the benefit in fighting for freedom when everyone's going to die eventually.

What's the difference from having a loyal boyfriend and a cheating boyfriend when you can't feel happiness or sadness.

~Flashback Over~

Ashley's cheeks seem to get itchier she looked back at the knife.

The girl in the picture was crying harder

She was sad but she didn't feel it.

Why can't she just be normal?
Why can't she just smile?
Why can't she just care?

Why did the world have to be so cruel...

She then heard a male voice softly talking through the door but she didn't listen.

Why would anybody like listen to a stupid cheater?

She sighed and got back up on the chair returning the rope to its proper place around her neck.

She heard more banging on the door.

She kicked the chair down.

But she didn't care.

The next thing she knew she's laying down on a bed in the infirmary.

She looked around the room she saw Kaitlyn asleep sitting on a chair close to her bed.

Even though she had her head down you could see some to tear streaks on her face.

Ashley started to shake her awake. Kaitlyn stirred as she looked up.

Realizing who was waking her up Kaitlyn suddenly jump at Ashley hugging her tightly.

Ashley blankly looked at the wall as she felt her sister crying to her shoulder.

But she didn't care

She couldn't care

And she never will
