"This is Welch. We're headed down the tunnel. Just didn't want you to shoot us."

"I'm headed out now for the dock." Gervaso said. "Good luck"

"Roger."

"Good luck." Gervaso called

The shadows stopped. Then a gun opened fire hitting Gervaso in the chest.

"Excpecting something else?" a guard called

An empire is falling

In just one day

"Finish him," said the captian.

"Goodbeye, man" said one of the soldiers

Gervaso rolled over in his hand he held a grenade, it's pin already pulled. "Yeah,

goodbye."

You close your eyes

And the glory fades

"Gervaso!" Ian yelled

"What happened?" Michael asked

"Gervaso, the Elgen got him."

"What do you mean, got him?"

"They........ got him."

"We've got to go rescue him!"

Ian looked at me with, his eyes welling up with tears. "He blew the dock. He's

gone."

I caught my breath then lifted the radio to my mouth

"Everyone, this is Michael. Gervaso is gone, but he blew the dock. HE gave his

life for us. Remember that. Don't let him die in vain."

Off in the distance

There is resistance

Jack's scream carried over the distant radio

The gun shot, Jack on his knees holding Wade in his arms, blood everywhere

"It hurts....."

"Stay with me buddy," Jack said tears streaming down his cheeks, "you're a

warrior."

Jacks eyes filled with fresh tears, "Don't leave me buddy, please Wade!"

"I'm..........sorry" he went silent. His head fell back.

Suddenly a steaming flow burst from the door. Glowing like a stream of lave

spewed from a volcano.

"Ostin is a freaking genius! It's rats! He must have released the rats from the

Starxourse plant!"

"Incoming!" Ian shouted.

A mortar round blew through the glass of our tower. I reached out to deflect it.

"Oh, no" Nichelle said, "Tanner?"

He was covered in the plaster of the wall and the red of his blood that had

seeped through his clothes

Tanner grimaced in pain, "you were right......I tried I just couldn't do it...........all

those people I killed"

"Maybe ...........God will see it that way," he looked at me and his gaze froze, hand

going limp.

A horrid little voice said to me, We'll die together in the east corridor.

everyone is down in the tunnel by the time I reach the top. I love you."

My body tingled with added power, my clothes began to burn,

My eyes welled up, tears mixing with the driving rain. Was I enough? Had I been

the man I should have been?

Suddenly my body began tingling, I felt a wave of electricity pass through me. I

raised my fist to the sky. "Come on!" I shouted to the clouds, to the gods of

lightning. "Com on! Just do it! Strike me!"

"Where's Michael?" Taylor asked. She turned to Ostin, "Where's Michael."

"He's gone."
