Too Broken (Ronks)
"Admit it. You love her." Sirius said
"I can't because I don't. Anyway, I still love you." Remus replied
"I know but, Tonks deserves you. You guys belong with each other." Sirius said happily
"But I don't want to let go of you. I can't." Remus cried
"You will never loose me. I will always be there for you, but I won't be with you. Just let me go Remus. It's time for you and Tonks." Sirius replied with a sad smile
"I love you, Padfoot." Remus sighed
"I love you to, Moony. Don't forget me." Sirius laughed
"I won't......ever." Remus replied, tears appearing in his eyes.
"You love her Remus, you just don't know it yet....."Sirius said as he drifted off into the distance
"Bye, Sirius..." Remus sighed
Remus's eyes snapped open. It was just a dream. But he saw Sirius again, he couldn't have asked for anything better. Dream Sirius was right, he had to let go, but couldn't. Not fully.
"But I don't love her." He said out loud
He climbed out of his warm bed. The cold air attacked his bare body. He was still wearing his boxers from the night before. He looked in the mirror.
"Why would Tonks love me, I'm a mess?" Remus thought to himself
Suddenly, there was a knock on his front door. Forgetting the fact he was practically naked, he opened the door. Standing there was Tonks
"Remus your-" Tonks started
She stopped when she saw him in his boxers. She looked down and raised her eyebrows.
"Ah Tonks. Uh sorry. I just got up. Be back in a sec." Remus yelled as he ran up the stairs.
He ran around his room looking for a pair of trousers that weren't wet from rain. He eventually found a pair. He grabbed a T-shirt from his chair hand ran down the stairs.
Tonks was still standing at the door. Her hair was bubblegum pink, Remus's favorite.
"You could have come in you know." Remus said
"That would have been rude. You could have been downstairs in your boxers again." Tonks said, smirking
"I just got up so don't say anything. What are you doing here anyway?" he asked, gesturing her in.
She brushed past him, he could smell her sweet perfume. It smelled of apples and roses. Strange but nice combination.
"I was worried about you. After Sirius fell into the archway, you kinda wanted to get the fight over and done with. Then you left quickly. I thought I'd see how you where doing." she replied
He sighed.
"Not great to be honest. He was like my brother, one of my last true friends, gone." he said sadly. He looked into her eyes, he could tell she cared about him.
"You'll always have people there for you Remus. You'll never be alone." she smiled
"Thanks Tonks." Remus sighed. Tonks placed her hands over his in comfort. Remus flinched a little, he wasn't used I getting this much affection from someone. And before he knew what he was doing, he was slowly kissing Tonks on the lips. He pulled away a few seconds later, eyes beginning to open.
"I-I ... w-we shouldn..." Remus stammered, realizing what he'd done. "I'm sorry, I ... I shouldn't have done that."
"No, it's fine." Tonks replied feeling embarrassed, cheeks turning red, hair turning brighter pink. "It's understandable." Tonks said, pretending to brush off the rejection. Remus nodded.
"Well, I should be going. I haven't told mum yet. I hope you'll be alright soon." Tonk said, standing up.
"Oh, right yeah." Remus said awkwardly. Tonks made to leave, but Remus caught her arm.
"Stay, please." Remus sighed, eyes almost begging.
"But I thought-"
"I know, but I don't want to be alone right now. And, you were closer to him, family, you should talk about it." Remus said quickly.
Tonks hesitated before walking back towards him. She wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly. Remus did the same, allowing her to bury her face in her chest and cry.
For many hours they didn't say a word. Just enjoyed the peaceful silence and each others company, and not the feeling of loss. When it was time for Tonks to leave, Remus didn't want her to, but he reminded himself that even though he loved her, he couldn't be with her. He was just too old, too poor, too dangerous.
Too broken.....
