The Day We Became Friends (Jily)
As the scarlet train pulled up to platform 9 3/4, Lily Evens sighed thoughtfully.
"Hey, Lily," Alice said beside her. "Try to have a good summer. Don't let him bother you. He isn't worth it."
Lily looked at her friend who was smiling sadly at her.
"I'll try but, after everything ... I thought he was different." Lily said sadly.
Alice bit her lip gently as the two girls stood up to get their luggage and leave.
"He hangs around with Dark Arts freaks, did you honestly expect to be better than they were?" Alice said, glancing over her shoulder as they pushed their way to the platform.
Lily shrugged in reply as they emerged from the train. Catching sight of her parents and sister, Lily waved before turning to Alice.
"I'll see you soon. Have a good summer." Lily said. "Remember to write to be this summer."
"No promises." Alice laughed.
The girls hugged and waved a short goodbye as they went off different directions to their own families.
"Lily, it's so good to see you!" Mrs Evens cried happily, rushing forwards to hug Lily. "How was school?"
"It was brilliant." Lily said, smiling at her mum. "I'm glad to be home though."
The incident of Snape had been forgotten for most of the holiday. It wasn't until she had to get school supplies for the next year, did she suddenly remember.
"Hey mum," Lily said, walking nervously into the living room.
"Yes Lily dear?" Her mother said, looking up from her book.
"Would it be okay if we went to town to get school supplies. I want to use pens and pencils this year instead of quills." Lily said.
"Oh, why is that?"
"I still haven't got the hang of using quills and ink." Lily lied. £Even after nearly six years, I miss pens."
"Your father was going to go shopping in an hour or so, you could ask him to take you to a stationary shop."
"Sounds good, thanks mum."
Leaving the living room, Lily walked up the stairs with a mischievous look on her face.
"Mudblood am I?" She thought bitterly. "I'll show you Mudblood."

It was only the second week back, and the sixth years had already been given a mountain of homework. Lily was sitting at one of the desks I the common room, clicking her pen furiously as she tried to do her potions homework.
"Evans. Hey, Lily."
"Yes Potter." Lily sighed, looking up from her paper.
"What's that, in your hand?" James asked.
"It's a pen." Lily said simply, looking at him suspiciously. "Have you never seen a pen before?"
James shook his head.
"It's basically like a quill but you don't need to constantly dip it in ink." Lily explained. She handed it to James who looked at it with great curiosity.
"Oi, Padfoot. Have you ever seen a pen before." James called to Sirius before throwing to the pen to him.
Lily watched with amusement as Sirius and James examined the pen with great curiosity.
"I do have homework to do, you know." She said to them.
"Oh, sorry." James said. He stood up and walked back to where Lily sat.
"Can I get one of those?" James asked, handing it back to her.
"Yeah maybe, my mum bought me plenty." Lily said. She scribbled on her hand to check if the pen was still working after the two boys had taken it.
"You can draw on your skin with them?!" James cried excitedly.
"Well yeah, it's-"
James grabbed the pen back from her and ran over to Sirius.
"Come here dick face." James said as he chased Sirius through the Common Room and out to the staircase.
Lily sighed as she took out another pen from her pocket.
"Idiots." She laughed as she started her potions homework once again.
