✨ ASG_JK
Welcome to Fanfic's Hall of Fame, ASG_JK!!!
ASG_JK: If I were to answer in one word, it would be "getaway". This is the only time I'm able to "getaway" from everything that feels overwhelmed.
ASG_JK: I was always a kid with a weirdly vivid imagination and the need to tell my thoughts to the people around me. And my English teachers always encouraged that, they built the entire confidence. I'm not a native speaker but English has always been my first language of preference and it was during the COVID era, I was 14 or 15 that year when, one of my classmates (also an amazing speaker), urged me to try Wattpad. That entire time I only wondered how to get into writing and it was again her who suggested I try BTS fanfiction. And I did. And I stuck to it.
Although I've decided to quit fanfiction and only publish authentic OG series, I'm yet to be able to do that, not without finishing my ongoing works.
ASG_JK: Yes. The first person I genuinely interacted with (who hasn't one of the known faces from my class, or my besties, or my sister) was Inky. And it was a weird beginning you know?
I was a reviewer at that time and I reviewed plenty other books before her debut book (which she deleted sadly) but with everyone else, the talk was only business. For her however, I got to know that she's a Bengali, like me. That was what brought us together and then soon I learnt she's exactly 10 years and 1 day older than me (we have consecutive birthdays.) And I still talk to her, over personal social media, on Wattpad, through her comment section. She calls me the "menace" and I call her "doctor-nim" (because she's a doctor by profession.)
Fun Fact: Most of my current writing style developed thanks to her because she's someone I idolised while writing.
ASG_JK: Neither, I'll be honest. I just needed a reason to write and I did that through fanfiction. I took the faces and characteristics of several k-pop idols over the years and worked them just how I would have, had they not existed. But it is through them that now I know how I want my characters to be, for the nicer side. I never made any real person a villain. So it is very academic, Fanfiction helped me develop my writing, broaden my horizons in various spectrums and definitely loosen up my definition of "knowledge gap".
ASG_JK: There's no end to it. The best thing about being a fan is to appreciate somebody's artistry. Very often we come to a point in our lives when we realize that the person we idolised might not be the ideals we idolised. Yet to be a fan is not really worship the human but their art and art form. And there was never and would never be an end to art.
ASG_JK: Fanfiction will remain. I think it's pretty amusing to wonder how much fanfiction can influence. And if we can produce good literature through it, I'm sure we can teach a generation certain important things and virtues that we've left behind. I will give an example, a very critical one. Most fanfiction readers are teenage girls, the age group which is susceptible to change. A lot of fanfictions, just like any dark adult content, contains stuff like physical and substance abuse. A lot of fanfictions glorify the acts of violence, adultery and crime.
To be honest, I'm very much against it. I've been a teenage girl and I've been a teenage fan writing fanfiction. However I can't objectively ask people to not read such content, what I can say is that this influences people.
If only we're able to, not only as a responsible society but also as a true artist, to direct people towards the rightfully correct and ethical decisions, we might make a difference.
I have always wanted to make that difference.
ASG_JK:
a) s_bhoomika, my best friend of 10. I've known her since we were 9 and she gets to analyse all the scenes of my stories. A lot of characters and conversations are exchanges with her.
b) ink3dverse, Inky, she is.
c) Juni, my sister. Unfortunately the account which was officially hers is my backup account now so I am unable to give an account name.
