WandaVision Trailer Breakdown/Analysis
Oh my god, y'all!!! I wasn't expecting this to come for a while, and yet here it is!!! The first new Marvel content since... Well, I think it was that Super Bowl trailer. So... Just about 7 and a half months!!!
First of all, there's no way I can cover everything in this trailer. There's simply way too much. I'll just hit the highlights and make a few theories here and there.
Second of all, just something I've been thinking about.
I think it's very likely that this will be the only Disney+ show we'll get this year unless something drastic happens. One, from a safety standpoint. Falcon and the Winter Soldier may have resumed filming, but we don't know what the schedule is. Every day, every other day? Who knows. They were supposedly 9 days away from finishing before production shut down. But there's also the fact that shit still needs to get edited, cleaned up, etc.
Secondly from a marketing standpoint. Sad as it is, the main goal here is to make money. There's only like, 3 months left in the year. While there is no official release date set for WandaVision, I can only assume it's gonna be October at the absolute earliest. I can understand if FatWS releases some time in December, but even then that's a tight schedule. Where I'm going with this is people will want to get the service to see the shows. Lemme break it down
If WandaVision releases in the first week of October (hypothetically), that's 4 weeks worth of content that month. I think there's supposed to be 6 episodes, or 8. I think it's six. Either way, an episode a week for six weeks. FatWS I think is the same way. So, if your goal is to sell as many subscriptions as possible for the longest period of time, you don't release two very highly anticipated shows very close together. Cause then you hold subscribers for less time. You get subscribers for the six weeks of WandaVision, make them wait a couple of months for FatWS, then release that show. It's more efficient to keep the subscription rather than get rid of it and get it as needed. My point is WandaVision and FatWS can't be released too close together.
In fact, I have a better assumption as to when WandaVision will release.
Mid November.
Most people got their yearly subscription when the service came out. I think the best financial decision is to release episode 1 of WandaVision the week before everyone's subscriptions are up. That way, you get them hooked and they buy the subscription again for the rest of the series. It's a logical assumption.
Anyways, tl;dr, enjoy WandaVision bc it's most likely the only Marvel content we're gonna get this year (Black Widow has a high chance of getting delayed again so...)
So, steering back to the original topic, let's break down some footage, shall we?
To start off, Wanda and Vision, a newly hitched couple, arrive in their new neighborhood and have some guests over for dinner. Immediately, Wanda and Vision sense that something is off, but they can't quite place it, specifically when their guests start to ask about where they came from
Part of me is thinking that it's the first evidence of the theory that the whole show is all in Wanda's head, coping with Vision's death in Infinity War, but more on that in a bit.
We switch to sudden COLOR tv ("is this really happening?" -Wanda) and have random shots like Wanda and Vision with twins, most likely Storm and Wiccan from the Marvel comics (how Vis got her pregnant, I have no idea. Last I checked, I don't think Vision had a dong).
(There was hints of this in the Super Bowl teaser as well)
We also get classic comics Vision to go with classic comics Wanda (sorry for cruddy screen shots)
The background of Vision's shot implies that these are Halloween costumes. Also shout out to the dude wearing a traffic cone on his head in Vision's shot.
At some point, Vision is out and spots this woman in a witch costume sitting still in her car. He touches her head in concern and she comes to with a gasp.
"Am I dead?" She asks.
"What? No, why would you think that?" Vision asks in response.
"Because you are."
Vision basically goes 👁👄👁 while the witch woman cackles
Now, unless someone has comics knowledge that I don't to prove me otherwise (please, enlighten me), my very loose (and desperate) theory is that for some reason, this is actually Lady Loki.
-Witchy looking ("No? Then why do you dress like [a witch]?")
-Green streaks in her hair
-The cackle
-Probably a little too self aware
Those are my only leads tbh. It's just a dumb idea that has like, a 1% chance of being true.
But it also brings up that valid point that, yeah, Vision is dead and suddenly is back with no explanation. So it again supports the "Wanda's grief caused mind escape is the show" theory.
It really begs the question who this woman really is though. Why is she so self aware? And why is she dressed like a witch (mannerisms and all)? And why was she in a vegetative state before Vision brought her out of it?
Curiouser and curiouser...
Anyways, last major shots are (again, cruddy) of someone flying through a rift in the sky, probably a dimensional rift
This person lands in a field and is surrounded by some sort of armed militia
And we see her face, and I'm like, 99% sure this is adult Monica Rambeau originally in Capt. Marvel. Remember, she is in this show.
But what kind of Victorian school teacher shirt is she wearing? That's what's getting my goat here.
But I wanna draw your attention back to this police force that she is surrounded by.
I think I have a theory as to what exactly this squad is. Again, it's very loose because I don't see any orange logos, clearly or not. But because Monica blew through a dimensional rif like that, I have an inkling that this might be the TVA. You know, the time cops that arrested Loki?
And that he probably later has to team up with?
Idk man... Seems pretty suspicious... Or maybe that's just me being desperate for ANY word on the Loki series. Or I could be right on the money, who knows?
All in all, SUPER STOKED for this show!!!
What do you guys think?
