Sylvie Lushton's Role

One week to go, my friends!! I'm sooooo excited!!!

Anyways, in the spirit of things, I decided to write down this entire theory that I've been developing for a while now because I realized that it might actually hold water.

Now, first and foremost, who is Sylvie Lushton?

According to the Marvel Wiki, Sylvie is a form of Amora the Enchantress created by Loki for... well, a reason. I can't quite remember. But she is a somewhat important character in Loki's lore (the real Amora being none too happy about this poser's existence). Now, I say this theory I have developed now holds some water because I was doing a little research today...

Research meaning I was going through one of my favorite Marvel books:

I had meant to flip through for meme purposes because there is a LOT in this book. But I was looking near the back, trying to find some pages I had used for writing inspiration a while back and happened upon this little line of dialogue by accident:

Those are fake names Amora and Loki use to get on a train (context doesn't matter). But immediately the mental alarms went off because I suddenly remembered why the name Sylvie Lushton was familiar:

Now, I know, never trust Google for a cast until the production comes out, but this has been something rumored/confirmed for a long time now. Also, there is that fact that Sophia DiMartino still has yet to be confirmed in a role. There was that stretch of time where we thought she was Lady Loki, but that turned out to be based on lies.

It's entirely possible she is supposed to play Adult Sylvie.

So, great! This book has even more surprises than I figured and I definitely need to go through it again for more details. (Or it was just a throwaway reference. Could be both because there's no evidence the book has any ties to the series, but as Marvel chose to put the book out there, we can at least assume there are some hints)

Now, what does any of this have to do with the story of the Loki series? Well, allow me to break it down for you.

Once upon a time, a little girl is found by the TVA for some unknown reason (probably for unknowingly breaking time). She's all alone in the world, possibly for being labeled as a "witch..." or, perhaps, an Enchantress? Anyways, TVA Agent Mobius feels pity for the girl (Sylvie, she said her name was) and decides to sort of take her under his wing. What he teaches Sylvie is unknown, but can be assumed that she learns how to travel through time using the Time Gates. Perhaps a familial bond is formed between the two as Sylvie grows up.

At some point, Sylvie goes poking around and discovers some sort of secret. What dark secret it is, we can't be sure. About the TVA, the Time Keepers, or Sylvie herself, possibly. Either way, she's angry that such a thing would be kept from her/something so horrible could happen behind the scenes and behind people she has grown to trust (sound familiar?).

Sylvie goes rogue, using the Time technology she had learned to manage to cause problems for the TVA. Whatever she learned about them/her, now she realizes that the organization can't continue existing. Putting on a visage of order and benevolence to hide some true nature. Maybe "order" is a nicer word for "totalitarian control." To paraphrase Loki, why should the TVA be in charge of deciding the fates of billions of people at the will of the Time Keepers? Who knows what their motives are? Is there a reason why no one can ask questions? Either way, Sylvie makes it her chief task in life to try to bring the TVA down. Maybe let the Multiverse roam free like it was meant to?

At some point down the line, probably years later, Variant L-1130, or Loki, is brought in to clean up his Time mess that he caused by stealing the Tesseract. It's mostly about catching the different Variants of himself. One who is King of Asgard, another running for president, yet another hijacking a plane.

Realizing the state the TVA is in, Sylvie continues her assault on the organization, eventually leading them to a simple grocery store, a Roxxcart. Loki and Mobius arrive on the scene, figuring Loki can help to clean up this disturbance in the time line while he's at it.

Here, Sylvie is cornered and about to be brought in, before absconding through a gate. She can't close the gate fast enough to get away fully, Loki running after her and leaving his team behind.

For a while, it's a chase between these two, Sylvie leading Loki through gate after gate, ultimately into a castle where they have a major confrontation

Whoever wins in this case doesn't matter, because Loki and Sylvie have a talk together, Sylvie explaining the secret she discovered and the reason she keeps causing problems. It's something Mobius had touched on when explaining Sylvie to Loki, but never to the full extent.

It's a lot like a Last Jedi scenario. Luke tells Rey about Ben going apeshit and killing everyone. Ben tells Rey that what Luke said wasn't fully accurate, revealing that Luke had intended to kill Ben in his sleep. When confronted, Luke tells Rey that what Ben had told her was true, but that he never intended to follow through with the murder. But by the time Ben had woken up, it was too late, the damage was done. It's all in the perspective of who tells the story.

It's probably a very similar format, with Mobius filling the Luke role, Sylvie for Ben, and Loki for Rey.

There's also a detail that because of Loki's unsolicited escapade, he gets detained in again, but this time with new knowledge of the true nature of the TVA

Loki confronts Mobius about the allegations, probably getting the full story along the way

How he takes this influences what happens next, which I couldn't possibly begin to imagine. I can think of a few scenarios, though.

1) Loki decides to betray the TVA and follows in Sylvie's footsteps, choosing to help end the TVA because they harm more than they help (one might say they plan to burn it to the ground...)

2) Loki decides to keep helping them, bring Sylvie back and show her that whatever she learned was a big misunderstanding.

2A) Sylvie basically tells the TVA to go fuck themselves and is either deleted or permanently detained to keep her in check

2B) Sylvie apologizes and goes back into the warm embrace of her father figure and Yada Yada warm fuzzies

3) A mix of both. Loki convinces Mobius of the TVA's corruption and the three of them decide to undermine the organization and destroy it, letting the Multiverse roam free because fuck the space lizards.

I'm not sure which one I like more/is the most likely, but we also have to take into consideration the fact that a season 2 is in development. Whatever that means for the story, I don't know. Maybe Sylvie is defeated/returned home and they tease the idea that now the real Amora is on the loose, hiding in the shadows until the next cosmic disturbance to make herself known. Perhaps the dark secret Sylvie discovers is related to Amora?

In case you couldn't tell, I really want Amora to show up.

Anyways, let me know what you guys think! Hopefully some of this stuff will start to unfold/be revealed starting next week. Once the season is over, come back to this and see if any of what I theorized was correct!
