Can I just be frank?

I hate tooting my own horn, but I totally called it (trust me, my dudes. I've had this idea since 2017)





Now, I usually leave the theorizing to all you guys and MatPat (cause he seems to have nailed it this time, check out his latest Star Wars Film Theory), but I came up with this idea a few minutes ago (again, with a little help from the Film Theory).

Obviously this is a red herring.

I know, I know, I was just singing my own praises and now I'm chopping em down like Rey does to this tree in this trailer:



But, we know better than that. Trailers are meant to be cryptic and what sort of editor would put possibly a major plot twist in a trailer FOUR MONTHS before a movie is set to release? I've learned my lesson with Avengers Trailers and from the The Last Jedi trailer back in that October:







However, this trio of shots brings up a good point:

This was a half red herring. The shot of Rey is out of context, but the shots of Ben are. As in, he did extend a hand to her, but not to THAT Rey specifically.

One idea for the new footage is that this is a similar situation. It's the right context, wrong shots.

So, it very well could be a sort of vision/dream sort of thing. That seems the most plausible option for a few reasons, one of which is simply the fact that she's with her friends some in this trailer (it sounds like a lame reason, I know, but give me a moment). She wouldn't just turn on them like that. Right?

Then that got me thinking: what if she was manipulated to do this?

And I'm positive it was The Emporer. (Did I spell that right? I has the dumb today)

The Film Theory was my first inkling (and please check it out cause it goes really in depth into details that I'm just gonna omit for simplicity/laziness). How else is Palps supposed to fit into this movie? He dead, son, and has been for 30+ years.

Unless he's looking for someone to manipluate to do his bidding.

Maybe that's who Snoke really was, and that's why it didn't matter in the end when he died. He was someone being puppetted around by Palps. We may never know who exactly he was, but again, doesn't matter.

Also this funny Buzzfeed article about people reacting to Dark Rey also helped me realize this:

What if he did create this Rey?

Or maybe it's a clone?

Or a vessel for Palpatine cause he can't pick Ben for whatever reason?

Or what if it is a vision?

Or some fancy editing?

The posibilities are endless, and we have an almost exactly four month wait.
