I look into your deep bluebell eyes

filled with the stories of all those you've saved

all of those you've loved

all of those that have made you laugh

and all of those that have made you cry,

and I wonder

have I seen them before?

Have I stared into your eyes and seen completely different stories?

I look at your warm smile

reminding me of the kind home I've never known 

and I wonder

have I seen it before?

Have I been in the home in which that smile resides?

Have I talked to that smile without the mask?

Just your smile

and my smile.

I look at your hair

as dark as the night sky

and I wonder 

have I seen it before?

Have I spent a night with that hair

too busy staring at it to notice the beautiful stars up above? 

I smell the faint scent of warm croissants on your skin

and I wonder

have I smelled that before?

Have I laughed with you 

while we at those croissants?

I look at you 

m'lady

and I wonder 

have I seen you before?

Have I known you before?

Have we been together all along? 

There is something about you

that is so close

yet so far away. 

Like I see you every day

but never see you at the same time. 

So all I do is sit here and wonder
