"Wh-what's going on?" | Percy Jackson Transformation/Ignorance AU
I woke up, stretching. I felt a warm hand brush away the drool on my chin, and I look over to meet beautiful gray eyes. Smiling at Annabeth, my wife (don't you even dare touch her with anything! Even your eyes!), I nuzzled into her neck. She squealed, pushing me away playfully. I stuck my tongue out at her, and got out of bed. We both got changed and got ready.
We finally went over to the car, Annabeth's golden curls bouncing as she walked. I got in the drivers seat after a brief discussion on who was driving, and drove over to Camp Half-Blood, where we were volunteering. Hey, we have to get those service hours!
About ten minutes later, we got out of the car. We walked into camp, giving high-fives to each of our friends.
"Pipes! Leo.. Jason! Hey!" Annabeth called out. "Will, Nico. Nice to see you." I greeted them casually. "Frank! Hazel!" I waved the duo over. I grinned at them both, my trouble-maker smile I've had for 18 years, hopefully longer, prominent on my face. I'm a senior in high school, after all. So is Annabeth. The nine of us started chatting, heading towards the forest.
We went and sat by a beautiful creek running through the forest. We laughed, splashing each other, getting soaked. Somehow, I didn't though. I mean, I did want to stay dry, but sill. It's.. kind of strange. I shrugged, continuing to mess around with my friends.
A few hours later, the exhausted group and I, were lying by the creek, laughing and chatting our heads off. I still wasn't tired. If anything, I felt as if I just had a shot of caffeine or three. "So, Percy. When are you and Annabeth getting married?" Piper asked, raising an eyebrow. Annabeth and I glanced at each other, confused. Then it clicked.
"Schist! We totally forgot to tell you guys! We eloped a few months ago, the day of my Birthday." Jason looked over at Piper, who looked at Leo, who looked at Hazel, who looked at Frank, who looked at Nico, who looked to Will, who looked to Annabeth. "Hey, Percy proposed. What were we supposed to do? We couldn't spend the money to have a huge wedding in a Greek palace that looks like the home of the gods!"
Our friends started to laugh. At that, I stood up, enraged. "Okay, I don't care if you laugh at me or that I'm too poor to give my wife a beautiful, grand wedding, but don't you dare laugh at Annabeth! I don't care that it's not supposed to be mean laughter. Never. Do it. Again." I snarled, the creek getting tougher with each word I mutter. My eyes narrow, and I clench my fists to my sides. I feel a sharp tug in my gut, and the water follows my actions.
Our friends and Annabeth looked at me- no, right over my head, from which a soft green glow was shining. I looked up to see a sea-green trident floating above me.
I poked it with a finger. "The heck is this?" I asked, frowning. Piper, Leo, and all my other friends, besides Annabeth, knelt down. I heard clopping hooves behind me. I twisted around, Annabeth's hand firmly grasped in mine, and see the camp activities director, Chiron, and Grover. My friend from sixth grade who I haven't seen in six years.
"All hail Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon." Chiron announced. Grover had a guilty expression on his face. He danced from side to side, and I notice his legs. They're... "You have donkey legs?" I blurted out. Grover went red. "Blaaah!" He bleated. "Goat! Goat legs! Any other satyr would kill you for that insult!" He proclaimed. I shrug, then notice Chiron.
His upper body is seamlessly grafted onto a white horse's body. I open my mouth to say something, when a huge black dog jumps out of the trees. Everyone but Annabeth and I get into defensive stances. "Mrs. O'Leary!" I cried out, grinning. My dog jumped on me, panting and licking my face happily.
Annabeth walked over and started petting Mrs. O'Leary. Everyone stared in bewilderment as we played with our dog. "How'd you get out, girl? Did someone let you out of your stable?" Hazel's head whipped around. "You keep a hellhound in a stable?" She shrieked. I shook my head. "No, I keep my a-Abn- UGHHH." I start, groaning as I couldn't think of the word. Annabeth smiled and continued for me. "No, we keep our," She looked over at me, raising an eyebrow, "abnormally sized dog in the stable. We couldn't find a crate big enough." I smiled at her, then stared above her head.
A light gray owl was floating there, right above her. I shrugged, hugging her, while everyone else stared in bemusement. "Two powerful demigods survived on their own for 18 years?" I glanced over at Annabeth. I had known her since I was twelve. We started dating at sixteen, and eloped at 18. "We weren't alone. We have known each other since we were twelve." Annabeth replied.
Grover swallowed, shifting nervously. "I didn't realize you two were demigods! Oh my gosh! I should've known! Of course, the satyr who found the only son of Poseidon in years, and probably years to come, and I overlook him. Mhmm! And I lost Annabeth! Uggghhh." He pulled at his hair, groaning to himself. I glanced over at Annabeth who shrugged helplessly, and I slowly backed away from our crazy friends. Mrs. O'Leary followed us, and we turned and ran.
About an hour later, we were sitting in a cave. We huddled together, Mrs. O'Leary wrapped around Annabeth and I, and we both fell asleep.
I woke up in the morning feeling strange. I stood up, only to fall over on my back. I landed on something soft, but it caused a sharp pain to run through my shoulders. I sat this time, feeling really awkward. I end up looking at Annabeth.
She's.. not human right now. I blinked, rubbing my eyes. Sure enough, she had a lioness's body with large, soft-looking wings on her back. I look at myself as best I can, and, instead of seeing my normal, human legs, I saw a sleek, black lower body covered in coarse hair. I turned, looking behind me. Sure enough, a black horse's body stretched out behind me. However, it had wings. Huge, black, feathery wings just there.
Annabeth woke up, blearily looking at my face. "Percy?" She murmured. She looked at the rest of me. "Percy! You're a centaur?!" She yelped. Then it clicked. "Wise Girl..." I started shakily. "You're a sphinx." She blinked, startled. "I'm a what now?"
Both of us run towards the creek to peer at ourselves. I neighed in alarm, staring at myself. I had horse ears protruding out of my hair and hair- fur- whatever, growing along my sides. My torso was semi-normal, besides the- horse... A sleek black horse's body was where my hips ended. Sharp hooves were connected to the bottom of the horse's legs and they were... bronze? My hooves were shining bronze, sharpened to almost sword-like sharpness. I turned to the side to see a black horse's flank. With wings. A large black tail was visible as well, swishing slightly.
I looked over at Annabeth who was staring at her reflection in horror. Her hair fell down in curls, still golden, but round lion ears poked up through it. Her body was of an almost golden color, her lion muscles rippling as she paced. Her gray owl wings fluttered, and her tail swished from side to side. "Annabeth?" I whispered. She looked over at me, realizing something. "I'm not a sphinx. And you're not a centaur. We're... demigods who got turned into creatures. But not completely. Centaurs don't have horse ears or wings, and sphinxes certainly don't have owl wings or lion ears. Wha-" I cut her off with a loud neigh, my ears standing straight up. She unsheathed her claws, which were also bronze, and as sharp and long as daggers.
I reared, my wings opening behind me, screaming a warning. Well, neighing. Annabeth roared in response, revealing slightly sharper teeth. I fell back down to all fours, my hooves making large gashes in the ground.
Annabeth and I stood back to back, surveying the area. Glints of metal showed through the trees, eyes peering out. Swords, daggers, bows, any weapon you could think of besides guns, they were all there. Pointed at Mrs. O'Leary, Annabeth, and me. Annabeth started to hiss, Mrs. O'Leary growl, and me? I was rearing and flapping my wings, a sharp noise coming from my hooves. Sharp points were attached to them, almost like claws, and they were hitting each other as I shook my legs.
Zing. An arrow leaped through the air, hitting me right in the side. I screeched and Annabeth ran over to me. I saw someone scream, and rush over. "Don't eat him! He's just a pegasus!" She screamed, shoving her away.
.... Hazel? Annabeth whined, claws sheathed. She leapt over to me, and nuzzled my side. Wait, can no one else see our human parts? I called out to Annabeth, "I don't think they can see who we are. They see you as.. whatever you are, and me as a pegasus. Apparently." I choked as another arrow hit me. "Stay away from that monster Hazel!" Someone shouted. "It's from the fields of punishment, we never see them here! It's a nightmare!" I looked at my hooves. The things I mistook for claws were small golden flames that licked and spat as I lay still.
"And that's a-" I didn't hear what they said. Annabeth and Mrs. O'Leary had grabbed me and were pulling me away. Annabeth was clearing a path, Mrs. O'Leary dragging me. I whimpered and stood up. I shakily walked, Annabeth letting me lean on her as best as possible. After a while, we got back to the cave. I laid down, panting as blood trickled out of my arrow wounds.
"This is going to hurt. But-" Annabeth started, but shut up as soon as the leaves over the entrance shifted. Two people stood there.
One had dark hair and sea-green eyes. Not unlike myself, and wore a Hawaiian shirt with khaki shorts on. He smiled softly at me. The other was female. She was tall and willowy, her gray eyes and blonde hair not unlike Annabeth's. She stared at me in hatred, but at Annabeth fondly.
"Perseus." The man started. "Nuh uh. Percy." I corrected. "Only those weird people who attack me call me Perseus. I just smacked them around with the pocket knife that I always have on me." He raised an eyebrow. "Percy, I am your father." He announced in a dramatic voice. "My name isn't Luke. Can't use that line." I responded, not even really realizing he could understand me.
Wait. He can understand me. "Annabeth! He understands me!" I screeched and she laughed. She ran over and licked my flank instead of kissing my cheek like she normally would.
I stare at her, shocked, and her eyes widen. "Oh my god. Ooohhhh my god. I did not just do that! That's something you would do!" Annabeth exclaimed, blushing. I narrowed my eyes, pouting, before tackling her. We roller around, play fighting, before a loud cough interrupts us. We both abruptly stood up, embarrassed. We only do that at home, play fight.
"Ahem. As I was saying, Percy, I am Poseidon. I am your father, the sea god. I also created horses and other creatures. I control earthquakes, I-" I interrupted him. "I get it. So why am I a pegasus and Annabeth a lion with wings?" Athena- wait, how do I know that's her name? "Why, I told you. I gave you the knowledge you need, and that is my name." I looked over at Annabeth, an unimpressed look on my face. She rolled her eyes, and we looked back over at Athena.
"Well, simple. It's because of Hera." Athena replied. Poseidon goes silent, before a loud roar emerges from an unknown source. I stick my head out side and saw a huge wall of water racing towards us.
I quickly pulled my head back in, trotting in circles. "Dad, Chill. Stop the water." Poseidon inhaled deeply, and a loud splash echoed through the cave. They continued to chat to us, Athena explaining what we can do now.
One year later, and we can transform at will.
I laugh, Annabeth running next to me. I pick her up, hugging her, and twirl her around. I hear footsteps and set her down quickly. "Pipes! Hazel! Jason! Leo! Frank! Nico! Will! So glad you're all here!" Annabeth calls out, smiling. "Now, I know you all hate coming here because of that.. incident.. a year ago." Annabeth continues, but I cut in. "Which you refuse to tell us about. I mean, we're all demigods here, we don't keep secrets!" I exclaim. Annabeth looks over at me, mouthing the word 'hypocrite'. I smile briefly at her, before switching my attention back to my friends.
Hazel broke. "Well, th-there were three monsters from the Fields of Punishment. A-a Nightmare, Hellhound, and something that looked like a griffyn but wasn't a griffyn. Even Chiron didn't know what it was." I raise an eyebrow at Annabeth, who sticks her tongue out at me. "Where were you guys anyways?" Leo asks. Annabeth quickly responds. "Oh, we were exploring. Grover started ranting and we all know how long those can get! So, Percy and I left. We ended up camping in the woods. We left the next day." Piper nods, knowing we had in fact left the next day.
Annabeth and I both graduated, her Valedictorian. I mean, she's Annabeth! I don't call her Wise Girl for nothing! Ahem. Anyways. "Oh. That's less exciting then I thought!" I exclaim, pouting. Annabeth joins in. "Come on, it couldn't have been that bad!" As the others started protesting and arguing with each other, Annabeth and I dash away.
As we run, I feel my lower body moving and molding itself, a sleek, black horse's body emerging as I run. My feet turn to hooves, and I start running on my four legs. My hands swing at my sides as I laugh, wings fluttering on my back. Annabeth races beside me, her lioness body rippling as she runs. Smoke trails from my hooves, their Celestial Bronze accented with flames flying out from them, fire hissing and spitting from my wings and my tail. My hair lengthens, running down my neck, all of it flickering with fire. My sea-green eyes have little flames dancing from the corners, and, as far as anyone but Annabeth and I can tell, my torso is a horse's neck and my head a horse's. My hair is a mane, my eyes a dark red. I think my eyes are red, anyways.
Annabeth races besides me, her golden hair framing her face. Her adorable lion ears poke out of said hair, twisting and turning as she listens. A small trail of smoke, nothing like mine, fans out from beneath her paws.
A Nightmare and a Hellion. The only ones of our kind, thanks to Hera. We can switch between our human and animal forms at will, preferring the latter when we're in the woods. We've earned a bit of a reputation with the other monsters. Nowadays, all we have to do is transform and they leave. Most of the time...
I flap my wings, lifting into the air, and she follows. Her soft gray wings beat once every second, before we just end up gliding along. I laugh, sticking my tongue out, and she returns the gesture, grinning even wider than I currently am. Which is pretty wide, mind you.
Now, Annabeth and I am sure you're confused. I'm a Nightmare, well, part of the time. It's a Pegasus from the fields of punishment basically. Annabeth is a Hellion. No, not someone who is a troublemaker. That'd describe me. Hell-lion. That's what Hellion, in this case, stands for. Normally they have pitch black wings with the rest of the characteristics Annabeth has, but since she's Athena's daughter, she got gray.
I didn't get to be a blue Nightmare, which I think is unfair. Annabeth gets gray and I don't get blue? Come on! Not even blue flames, I'm pretty sure! Ugh! Anyways, to everyone else, Annabeth looks like a lioness with a golden pelt and gray owl wings. Tiny flames flicker at the edge of her pelt and wings, and under her paws when she runs. I'm always on fire. Literally and figuratively. Well, as a Nightmare anyways. When the gods and people who can understand us are around, so satyrs, we go by 'Liona' and 'Seaodore'. I came up with the names, Annabeth approved them.
I think she thought I said 'Theodore' but I corrected her.
I glance up, hearing a branch break. "Th-th-that's the Nightmare and the Hellion!" A satyr screams. Our friends immediately appear, probably Nico's doing. They advance towards us, swords out. My eyes narrow, and a scream rips from Annabeth's throat.
I twist, fearing about what I'm about to see. Jason's sword is in her arm, right next to her shoulder. She only narrowly missed a stab in the heart. Her Hellion form flickers. She reverts to human form.
Panic overtakes me. I turn back to my 'human' form, rushing over, murmuring words in her ear. "Annabeth! Stay with me! Oh gods, you'll be okay, right?" I shudder at the thought of losing her, glaring at my friends. They all slowly back away, looking in fear behind me.
Three Mrs. O'Leary sized hellhounds stand behind us, Mrs. O'Leary leading the trio, and a large Nightmare made of water stands behind them. I feel the pressure in my gut from creating it, and it moves to my will. I mentally force it to fight my friends, but not seriously maim or kill them. Slight maiming is definitely allowed.
My eyes start to flicker between the colors of my Nightmare eyes and my normal eyes, before flames dance out of the corners. My friends stare at me and Jason's sword in Annabeth's arm. I feel the tips of my hair light, my body shifting into my Nightmare form. I scoop her up with my arms, remember my top half is human for Annabeth and I, and run off. Steam rises from the ground as I run, and I head loud yells and splashed as my water Nightmare fights them.
I get to camp and revert to my 'normal' form. I run into the Big House screaming for Chiron. He rushes out, hooves thundering against the ground. "Percy! What happened?" He asks, noticing the large gash in Annabeth's arm. I had already pulled the sword out and made up a lie about the Hellion attacking her. Yeah right. She is the Hellion.
He gives me a square of ambrosia and some nectar, and I feed it to Annabeth. I watch as the skin slowly heals, feeling her blood move around faster in her body. Her eyes snap open. "Percy!" She cries out, her eyes darting over me and making sure I'm not hurt. "Shh, they don't know. Well, our friends do, but-" I'm cut off by the door slamming against the wall. My friends stand by the door, thoroughly doused except for Leo. Steam is curling away from his clothes.
They don't notice Annabeth and I. "Chiron! You can't let Percy and Annabeth in here! They can't stay at camp! They're the Nightmare and the Hellion! That's why he Nightmare has blue flames and the Hellion has gray wings!" I can't help myself. "I got blue flames! Sweet!" I screeched. Haha! I did get my blue! Annabeth shushes me, but too late.
They freeze. They turn, staring at me, fear evident in their eyes. I squeak, and Annabeth turns Hell loose. Er, Hellion. Her skin ripples as golden fur sprouts through, gray owl wings emerging from her back. Her legs turn to Hellion legs and a long tail appears. Golden Hellion ears sprout out of her head. She's full Hellion. I've never seen the Hellion's face, just it's body and ears.
Her eyes scan the room for weapons, a snarl rising from her throat. When our friends' hands go to their weapons instinctively, I turn.
I close my eyes then snap them open. Flames roaring at the corner of my eyes, (apparently blue) flames hiss and spit at the tips of my hair and fingers. My feet harden and shape into sharp hooves, flames flickering from them. I feel extra weight get added to me, the rest of the Nightmare appearing. My wings rise, flames at the tips of my feathers. My tail snaps to the side, the long flames hissing as I send a long lash of steam at them, the edges of it on fire.
Chiron stares, and I can feel godly presence arrive. I pace around Annabeth's cot, eyes narrowed, the sounds of my flames hissing and cracking only slightly quieter than Annabeth's snarling. Hera walks towards us, smiling. "Oh, my dear creations! Percy and Annabeth, how lucky you are. I blessed you two at birth, so when you're powers got activated.. Well, I was so happy!" she gushes, Hades and the rest of the Olympians staring.
"You made them immortal without us knowing?" Hades growled, glancing at us. He looks harder, before a grin lights his face. "Well, Hera, at least you chose well. You two may very well be the last of your kind." He coos, and Annabeth and I keep our backs together. The ambrosia finally kicked in. Hades laughs.
"Percy Jackson! The great Son of Poseidon! Whose memory, along with his girlfriend's, got altered." Ares laughs, a wicked smile stretching across his face. "You two thought you were normal kids! Even getting married! Jeez, how bad was it altered? Not even remembering a single thing until a year ago correctly. Everything you used to believe was wrong!" He crows, gloating, and Poseidon's face is dark.
The earth shakes. Cracks open up in the ground, Pegasi crying in distress, and everyone looks at Hades. Who was looking at Poseidon, the god of earthquakes.
Poseidon looks up. "Who did it? Who erased my son's memories and replaced them? This time it wasn't Hera, she's not allowed to interfere. We each get one per generation of demigods we're allowed to mess with. She just used Percy and Jason at the same time, the same thing, so it counted as one." He whispers, yet his voice echoes clearly. Wait, what did he just say? "Which one of you did it?!" He screams, the earth rumbling and rain pouring from the sky. Small crackles of lightning flashed. For the first time, I think the gods realized Poseidon was possibly the most powerful.
All equestrians obeyed him. He controlled the water and could shake the earth. He had an army of cyclopses impervious to most harm. He could cause storms, sink ships, cause wars. The dead who died on shipwrecks obeyed him. His storms could destroy anything the other gods could make, and even natural lighting, not caused by Zeus, flashed in them.
Just look at me, and, I've only been told this, this isn't my opinion, I'm stronger than any demigod in existence. All the gods did. "If he still had the Styx protection," Zeus whispered, for once in his life afraid (hooray! I can scare the king of gods!), "He could do almost anything. He can fly and I can't strike him down because that would anger my brothers. He wields Hephaestus's flames, wisdom by his side because of Annabeth. Annabeth and Percy could kill us all. Percy could kill every mortal his power could reach in a heartbeat. Literally. By stopping their blood. He controls poisons to an extent, and if he has these powers, so does Poseidon." Poseidon and I look at each other. Annabeth holds onto my arm, and we both step backwards, dissolving into shadowy mist.
We land, panting after their shadow travel. I used a bit of mist travel as well. Our Fields of Punishment forms allowed us to shadow travel, and I had gotten tutoring on all my powers from Poseidon. We turned to our mortal forms.
We just held each other, kissing and hugging, just reveling in the other's presence. "Oh gods, I thought I was going to lose you." I murmur, nuzzling into her lemon-scented hair. I feel her smile into my chest as she murmurs "never" and hugs me tighter.
We look at each other, and kiss again. We stand up, look around, and slowly walk to our car. We get in, and I drive us home. We walk into our house after we arrive, and immediately head to our completely mortal baby's room.
She doesn't even have a trace of our other forms or god. We asked Hera, and made her swear on the River Styx she wouldn't lie.
Bianca looks up at us, her curly blonde hair and sea-green eyes prominent against the light pink of her crib. Annabeth and I morph, her keeping watch, and I gently pick up Bianca. My heat is soft, my flames hardly visible, just soft glows dangling. I think she can see Annabeth and I's human upper bodies and monster body. She giggles as I tickle her stomach, and morph back to normal.
Annabeth dashes over, no longer a Hellion, and we all play together as one big, happy family.

Hope you guys enjoyed that one! I haven't been updating a lot, so I decided to do this. Anyone up to making a cover? I'm going to need a few more months until I'm done with mine, and if I like yours, I might keep it! Next up (hopefully): Harry Potter one-shot!
Thanks for reading!
