Personality:

She's a goofy type of girl that will take few things seriously. Many times, whether it be in her lab, at a crime scene or when she's at the precinct, Emily can be heard joking about something whether it is work-related or not. She always has a smile on her face and will talk to anyone, despite what their title may be. On the rare occasions that Emily might be seen as serious, people will know that the topic is something close to this girl. From how she was younger (high school to early college), Emily has matured when getting older and further into her college years. She would take herself more seriously as she got older and more mature, starting to work hard on things that needed it. With her job and what she does, people really do consider it odd to see Emily the way she is. She does that mainly to relieve herself for all the dark topics and things she sees on a daily basis. 

Likes:

Forensics - This was something that she was fascinated with even when she was in high school. Emily continued to major in this when she got into college. She joined the police department when she was done with college, focusing most of her time with the Special Victims Unit. Emily sees her job as living within a mystery book, but she enjoys that. She likes to look at the crime, understand how certain things happen and what went down at the crime scene. From blood splatters to handling DNA to analyzing hairs and fibers, this girl enjoys it all. Emily also enjoys staying within the lab, calling it a second home.

Coffee - Coffee is something that helps get the girl through the day. Many times she'll be rushing around her apartment, due to the fact that she's running late (sleeping past her alarm) but will always manage to come in with a cup of coffee in hand. No matter what though, someone will always have a large coffee waiting for Emily as she rushes through the doors, somehow managing to still be on time for her job. 

Neighbors - Emily's apartment building is oddly a close-knit one. They all know one another and help out each other. Emily especially does this with her next-door neighbors; a large family with a single working mom. She'll offer to help out the family, making sure they get fed dinner, watching over the younger kids, etc. Emily will act this way with all the families though. This earns the girl a close relationship with both the parents and the kids. 

Dislikes:

Alcohol - Emily was a wild child. A party girl from junior year of high school to sophomore year of college. Yet, miraculously, she still managed to keep good grades. It was after a college party where Emily decided to clean up her act. She left a party drunk with no control over herself. She got into her car and drove herself home, hitting someone with her car. In the end, no one died from the interaction. Emily did her time, the college was nice enough to not expel her, and she learned her lesson. From that moment on, Emily never dared to touch a single drop of alcohol.

Her past - Being how she is now, Emily is really embarrassed by how she acted when she was younger. Hates to think about it and hates the mention of it. Emily will claim that she doesn't even know who that girl was, even though it's the same person. Still, the woman does whatever she can to keep that part of her past hidden. Good citizen in the community, helping those that need it, doing whatever she can really. When the past is brought up, Emily gets defensive, angry, and upset by it. Will explain that she isn't that person anymore and that she has changed her behavior and habits.

Witness stand - To say the least, Emily hates being called in to testify in court. She hates having to explain things to people and give her "expertise explanation" on topics that were found during the search of the unsub. Though, she mainly hates it because of cross-examination. Emily doesn't like to know what's coming to her. Basically hates being blindsided. She doesn't like it when the lawyer will start questioning her credibility and knowledge, throwing one question after another to her. Emily will often wish that she could just storm out of the room and go to the safety of her lab.

Background:

Despite being a party girl in high school and college, Emily was still a good student. Would get drunk at parties and wouldn't make the best decisions. Part of many punishments would be community service and having a friend of the family working with the police department, Emily would often be filing files and keeping things organized. Most of this would be spent at SVU (that's where the friend worked). Seeing all the cold cases made the girl want to help out these people, thus leading her to graduate from college as a Forensic Scientist and joining and Special Victims Unit.
