Varian Wrynn- Sieging Ogrimmar (a)

World of Warcraft One Shot

The giant molten balls soared through the air before eventually slamming into the outer walls of Orgrimmar. On Varian's command, hundreds if not thousands of siege engines hurled their ammunition towards the gates. He snapped his arm down, sending another deadly barrage before turning to see you standing in the scorching Durotar sun, the intense heat was made even worse by the heavy and unwieldy armour.

"Ah, Captain y/s/n, Just the person I wanted to speak to." His second in command took control of the artillery as Varian walked over to you, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword as it swung from his hip. "Are you sure you wish to partake in this assault? You took a pretty nasty blow in training, if you wanted to sit this one out..."

"No Varian, I'm fine. You really think I would miss out on this? The day the Alliance takes Orgrimmar for its own? No way. I'm in." He raised his heavily gauntlet in defeat and a small smile formed across his scarred lips.

"So be it..." He turned back to his rows and rows of soldiers, the very best that Azeroth had to offer.

"Why Varian? Do you not think I am capable of this?"

In his booming and deep voice he chuckled to himself. "Y/n... Since you were a small and orphaned child I took you in and raised you as my own along my own offspring. It was your decision alone to undertake basic training and your doing alone that turned you into what I can only describe as the best warrior this side of Kalimdor. I have fought side by side with you at every major battle up and down the continent. You are nothing but capable and I would not be surprised if you stormed in there and razed the city by yourself."

"Then why are you so concerned about me joining the ranks?" His gaze shot down to the floor and he kicked the dirt around with his heavy plated boot.

"Because... What if..."

"What if what?

"What if you were hit by a stray arrow... An unruly firebolt. What if a filthy goblin sneaks up on you?"

"Father that would never happen..."

"But. It. Could. I do not know what I would do if I lost Anduin or if I lost you. I would be entirely at fault and I would not be able to live with myself. However, your will is yours. You wish to fight, I can not stop you, and doing so would be highly detrimental to the war effort, but decide quickly. There is only a few minutes before I give the mark and we charge." He continued to walk forward, marching to the peak of a small rock formation and raised his sword, a million thoughts and question raced through your head, through the whole army he managed to find where you stood and from across the chasm looked at you with hope. He dropped the sword. The people charged.
