James Watson- Dinner Disaster (c)
A Study In Charlotte One Shot
Cooking wasn't your greatest talent in the world, you were rather horrific at it really. It wasn't as though your cooking would kill someone, but more that would be what you'd prefer after eating the horridness that was your cooking. You wished you were better at it, especially when it came to tonight. You wanted to cook your boyfriend a nice meal, however it was almost impossible that that would be the case. You would do your best and you knew that James would just grin and bear it but, you didn't want him to have to suffer through what was arguably not food.
James was too nice to be honest with how bad your cooking was, but you didn't want him to have to just pretend that he enjoyed it when you knew it wasn't great.
Tonight's dinner was going to be a mystery pasta, mainly because if you gave it a title it would mean there was standards. You'd banished James to the living room so that he couldn't see you cooking, whilst you started to prepare the vegetables to go into the pasta dish.
You chopped up a couple of onions, and moved onto a pepper. You went to put the knife into the yellow bell pepper, but it slipped. The knife moved to the side and sliced through your finger, allowing red to seep onto the metallic blade.
"Oh, bloody hell!" You yelled, dropping the knife with a clang onto the side.
Grasping onto your hand, you looked around for ideas of what to do, biting your tongue so that you wouldn't scream out a swear again. You found a tea towel thrown onto the side, holding it to the blood covered finger. The pressure instantly sent a surge of pain through your finger, causing you to let out another loud profanity.
You heard a bang from the other room, along with some heavy footsteps until James appeared in the kitchen.
"What's wrong?" He asked, clearly concerned.
"I... I..." you stuttered unable to form a proper sentence, instead holding out your painful hand, tears falling down your face.
James held onto your hand, moving the tea towel, to look at the cut you had caused. It stung painfully at the removal of pressure, causing more tears to fall.
"Let me get the first aid kit," he smiled softly, kissing your forehead.
He quickly scurried off before returning with the small green parcel of first aid priorities. He begun to work on your finger, cooing to you, so that you were calm through the pain that he didn't mean to cause in working on it.
When it was finally wrapped up, he pressed a gentle kiss to your finger, giving you a soft encouraging smile.
"I'm sorry," you sniffled. "I'm sorry for ruining dinner."
He smiled down at you, kissing your forehead once more.
"It's okay sweetie. It was an accident."
"But... but I ruined the dinner," you whispered, trying to hold in the tears that were attempting to escape.
"Don't worry sweetie," he smiled. "How about you go snuggle up on the sofa, pick a film and I'll order a pizza?"
You nodded your head feeling a bit better, as pizza and cuddles were the best cure for everything.
