Jerome Valeska [Gotham]*

**This is a Jerome AU, basically, well... You'll see how it's an AU. I'm not the best at Jerome and I write him kinda softer than the show, but I do try.**

Ski lodges were fun when you weren't nine months pregnant and about to explode. For some unknown reason, your boyfriend, Jerome, wanted to go skiing. You assumed automatically he had someone he needed to kill up here and just wanted you with. Despite the fact you can't ski. Or even walk really. It was more of a penguin waddle.

Snow was coming down in long shifts, dumping white powder all over the ground. You sat on the couch in the lodge, a book resting on your largely swollen stomach. You could physically see the baby kick since your stomach would move.

"Ouch, cut it out." You mutter, pressing your hand to your side where he or she was kicking. Neither you or Jerome wanted to know the gender right away. Discomfort spread on your face as the baby continued to beat you from the inside out.

"How far along?" A young woman asked, taking a seat beside you. She had a steaming mug of coffee in her hands, blonde curly hair down to her shoulders.

"Thirty nine weeks. I'm due next week." You answer, readjusting your swollen self on the couch. The woman smiled, taking a sip of her coffee.

"Well congratulations. And for being so far along, you look great. Is your husband here?" She asked more questions, intrigued in now talking to you.

"Thank you. My boyfriend is out skiing. I obviously can't with-" You start to say, wincing as a large pain shot through your abdomen. "Ow.."

"Was that?"

"A contraction? I believe so.. Wow they're so painful.." You mumble, taking your phone out of your purse to call and ambulance. You and Jerome had decided to call one if you went into labor on this trip, neither of you had a car.

You received back news from the hospital. Due to the snow, no ambulances can be dispatched. You were stuck at this lodge to have your baby.

Thankfully it wasn't a crowded place. The woman that you had been chatting with, Jane her name was, had helped you to your room and called the lodge Doctor. It was lucky ski lodges keep one for emergency injuries, although, this probably wasn't the normal thing she took care of.

"I heard that you were.. Hm.. Yeah." Jerome muttered, walking into your cabin. He was hiding every emotion he had tucked inside his body. Jerome hated showing emotions to anyone but you and wouldn't do it in front of people who would never see him again.

"Pushing your baby out of my body? Yeah that's what I'm doing get your butt over here now!" You yell at him, screaming in pain as a another contraction came through. It was the equivalent of having a stick of dynamite going off in your stomach and upper legs. Super painful.

Jerome held your hand awkwardly, lightly dabbing your forehead with a cool cloth. He could barely lock eyes with you let alone watch his own child be born. This was gonna be a long labor.

Your baby was born only two hours later, a little girl. Jerome left the room supposedly to sleep since he had a long day skiing. Everyone bought the excuse but you, you knew he wanted to not show caring emotion in front of others. Eventually, they left the cabin.

Your daughter was swaddled in blankets and carefully positioned beside you on the bed, sleeping peacefully. You never realized newborns were that tiny in size until you had one cuddled beside you. Jerome slowly peaked out into the room, you shut your eyes tight.

Jerome further emerged from the other room, walking over to your daughters side of the bed. She hadn't been named yet since Jerome had left the room. He picked her up, rocking her gently.

She woke up a little, her big eyes staring up at her father. She had little tufts of ginger colored hair on her head, peaking out of the blankets. Jerome grinned, as proud as he could ever be. He couldn't be prouder in his whole life, his whole world was complete. And he would work hard to never let it bring that down.
