The Pinkertons - Unconventional Wife 2
Part one to this is imagine is in the Christmas Advent Imagine book. Go check it out so this one makes sense.
Will had sent word to his father and Kate of the news. While Wednesday's father and brothers reluctantly left with the help of the Sheriff. Alan and Kate returned to Kansas City, while Wednesday was tending to the bar. He and Kate sat themselves down. She came over with a smile.
"What can I get you today?" she wondered
"Two whiskeys and your lovely services" Alan noticed the wedding ring sitting on her finger and assumed that this was his new daughter in law.
"The whiskeys, no problem. The other services are not for sale." She picked up two glasses and then the bottle.
"Awh, why is that love." he continued to test her.
"Two very important reasons. One I'm not nor have I ever been one of those inclined ladies. And two this is important one, I'm married." She showed off her ring "Ask me again and I'll break your fingers." Alan held his hands up in defeat.
"You're new here." Kate commented
"Yeah, I get that a lot. So let me tell you what I told my husband before I married him when we first met. You want drink and conversation, then i'm all ears. Anything else and I differ to these fine young ladies." Wednesday headed off to serve other customers.
"I like her." Kate shrugged
"Aye but why does our William meet and marry here within such a short time?" Alan wonders
"Oi! What did I say about your weapons?!" Wednesday yelled and the two looked back to where she had gone. "Put 'em away before I put both of you down." The doors to the Dubois opened and in came Will.
"They causing you trouble?" Will questioned her
" Nothing I can't handle. I promise." Wednesday gave him a grateful smile. Will then spotted his father and Kate.
"You're back." He stated making Wednesday turn to see what was going on.
"You know them?" She questioned her husband, confused and headed over to them.
"Yes, uh. Wednesday, this is my father Allan and my partner Mrs Kate Warne. Dad, Kate this is my wife Wednesday." Will introduced them awkwardly and his wife glanced between them.
"It's nice to meet you. But I'm not going to apologise for our earlier interaction."
"Good." Allan approved

Allan, Kate and Will were eating as Will explained what happened as Wednesday continued on working.
"I don't know whether to be proud or to call you stupid." Alan commented
"I'm surprised that you could be so noble and smart enough even come up with the idea" Kate teased making Will roll his eyes "So what happens now?" she wondered
"I don't know, I didn't think past the marriage bit. Her father brought back up and had most places covered. Marriage seemed like the only plausible option. The thing is being married to me right now is the only way to legally keep her out of her fathers clutches. He's stupid and cruel but not dumb enough to go against the Sheriff and his own niece." William replied
"I wouldn't be so sure of that. He can call into question the validity of your own marriage. In fact your new bride might want to here this." Allan replied and even though Will was apprehensive he called over over.
"Okay. Wednesday." she looked over to them "Can you come over here for a moment please." she nodded and excused herself.
"This looks serious, what's going on?" Wednesday wondered sitting down with them.
"Your new husband has informed us of the circumstances of your marriage." Allan told her. Wednesday glanced at Will then back to her father in law. "But I fear from the impression your father has made on my son. Simply marrying one another might not be the end of this. Your father, if he is as controlling as Will has told me. He might with the right contacts. Call into question the validity of your marriage. If that happens right now it could be dissolved."
"That can't happen." Wednesday denied "If that happens he'll go through with his deal or worse. I barely managed to escape his clutches the first time." She stressed and Will took her hand.
"I won't let that happen, I promise." Will vowed and she gave his another grateful glance "What can we do to make sure that doesn't happen?" Will asked his father.
"Before I tell you that I want to know how committed you are to make sure she is safe. It won't be a walk in the park."
"Whatever it takes." Will told him without hesitation and Wednesday gave a nervous agreement.
"Well then if you're sure, then I will help you. You two from here on out are for all intense and purposes married. No one not even here can question that. Wednesday, the both of you will accompany me back home to meet the family. Before that you will need to find a home for you newlyweds to move into and start your lives together." The two nodded in agreement, as Allan explained what they had to do.

William and Wednesday both agreed to work on this quickie marriage. Anything to stop Wednesday's father from getting her back. So the two found a cabin just outside of town. The two moved themselves in from their rooms at the Dubois. Then they went back home with Alan to meet the family. Wednesday was getting herself ready for bed, when Will came in. he cleared his throat, then scratched his head. Wednesday looked at him via the mirror.
"William, breathe." she stood and made her way over to him. "You're more nervous than me."
"I didn't think that was possible" he joked lamely
"We were warned and we both agreed right?" Will nodded "We also knew that it was going to be a little awkward."
"Yeah, but the alternative is much worse. Okay, we can make this not awkward, we're married. This is totally normal." Will tried to amp himself up.
"Will, relax. Just relax."
"How are you so calm right now? It wasn't less than a week ago that the tables were reversed. Now your all calm, what is your secret?" Will questioned making Wednesday laugh.
"Oh I am nervous. In fact I'm terrified that my father will succeed in getting his evil clutches back on me. So my self preservation is high right now. And that magical self preservation is telling me to be calm right now and to trust that despite the circumstances of us being here. You have my back and I have yours. You have since Annalee sent you up to her room to come and get me." She smiled at him "I trust you William Pinkerton." Will relaxed and took her hand and kissed it.

Upon their return to Kansas City, the two knew they were being followed. Will held Wednesday's hand as she stepped off the train.
"You see him?" Wednesday asked glancing away and then back to her husband. She then took his arm.
"Yeah. But we knew this was going to happen. Now that we have the awkwardness out of the way, you know my family and such. Everything else should be easy." Will assured her. The two headed back to the cabin and unpacked, before they went to the Dubios and meeting back up with Kate and Annalee who's tending the bar.
"How did things go with the family?" Kate wondered
"Oh fantastic, we also picked up a new friend. Mr Top hat at the bar." William nodded his head over "We clocked him at the house then followed us all the way here on the train."
"Which lead to the discussion of the man is probably going to follow us. Find nothing and then probably lie, all so that he can get a big payday." Wednesday concluded.
"You think that's gonna happen?" Kate questioned
"Oh, almost defiantly" Wednesday hummed nodding.
"So what are you going to do? Do the two of you have a plan?" Kate became concerned.
"Yeah, this." Wednesday got up and walked over to the man at the bar."I know you've been following me. I also know that you're working for my father. So here is a message you can take back to him. Tell him to back off. He and my brothers played the game and lost. I'm married, neither my husband and I will be doing anything to give him another reason to wreck my life. If you have any sense you'll cut and run because this is one family drama you don't want to be in." She sassed him
"I don't know what you're talking about." he denied
"Don't lie to me. Don't do that. It's beneath the both of us. Did he tell you why he wanted me followed? His own married daughter? I'm assuming not because in his head, he is God and we're just pawns to him. So let me tell you the real reason, he made a deal with a man three times my age. That man payed $500,000 for me under the guise of marriage. Its not marriage its servitude." The man shifted awkwardly. "That's what you're a part of . He's pissed because I ran away and married someone else. My father cannot stand the fact I defied him and found happiness. So like I said the smart move is to walk away. Do something stupid and well you've heard of the Pinkertons right?"
"Yeah."
"my husband is one. i figure a guy like you has his finger in many shady pies. Which battle do you want to fight?" she asked him. The man sighed "Thought so." she then returned to Will and Kate.
"How did it go?" Will wondered
"I can't tell. But I did give him something to think about, it could go either way." Wednesday breathed.

Wednesday was getting herself ready for bed. Will was working on a case with Kate and Kenji, so this evening she was on her own until late. She blew out all of the candles leaving only the fire as the source of light and warmth. She was about to get into bed when the door was forced open. Wednesday jumped back in shock as the assailant advanced his attack on the lone woman. Wednesday blocked and fought back as much as she could. She ran across the room in search of Will's spare pistol. But she was pulled back by the hair , Wednesday screamed in pain as she struggled. She rammed herself back causing the assailant to let go. With this freedom she ran out of the door and over to her horse. With no harness or saddle she scrambled onto her salvation and nudge it to turn around and into action. Just as she did the assailant took out a pistol and shot her, hitting her stomach. She grunted but still took off.
"Wednesday had to make a quick decision. The farm or the bar/ The farm had John who could help, but then the bar was closer and full of people. Well she made the choice to head for the bar. Once reaching there and still clutching onto her wound she staggered in looking for any familiar faces.
"Will" she gasped "William." She called a little louder catching his attention/
"Wednesday?" he asked and then she dropped to the floor "Wednesday!" he dropped his glass and ran over to her as did Kate. He picked her up into his arms. Kate and Annalee rushed over to her aide.
"Wednesday, what happened?"
"Will, she's been shot" Kate breathed "Annalee we need a room and a doctor as soon as possible." Annalee lead them upstairs as Will lifted up his wife and took her to the room that Annalee opened up. He laid her down on the bed and moved her hair out of her face. Wednesday's breathing became shallow.
"Her breathings shallow." Kate mumbled "Okay, I need some whiskey, Will get the fire started. Okay I need some supplies like hot water and clean towels" She applied pressure as everyone got into gear. Will started the fire.
"Can you pass me the leather wallet in my bag." Will move to dig the wallet out and hand it to Kate it was her lock picking tools and she took out tweezers.
"What's going on? I heard your Mrs had been shot." The Sheriff arrived
"Yes, go to the cabin and see what you can find" The Sheriff nodded as Annalee came back with whiskey, hot water and towels. Kate took them, and cleaned her tools
"I've called for the surgeon but I don't know how long he'll be." Annalee voiced
"Late either way, assuming she got shot at the cabin she's already lost a lot of blood. Which means if she gonna have any chance of making it, I need to get this bullet out now and try to stop the bleeding. Hold her." Kate cleaned the wound and the tweezers. She went to work trying to get it out. Wednesday screamed out as Will held onto her.
"Almost got it." Kat strained and moved around. She got a grip on it and pulled it out. "Good news I don't think it hit anything major. i can sew her back up and she should be fine." Kate pulls her sewing kit out of her bag and sews her up.
"She has a fever." Will stated running his hand over her head.
"I'll bring up some cold water." Annalee hurried off as Kate patched up up with gauze.
"This has to be her father. He just can't let her go." Will sniffed "A power play."
"Maybe, but right now, you need to focus on her. When I'm done I'll go back to the house and send a encrypted message to your father." Kate replied. she then cleaned Wednesday as much as she could and Annalee came back with cold water. Will took it from her and dabbed his wife head. While Kate sent a message to Allan, Will stayed vigil by her bedside through the night. Wednesday struggled into the daylight and into the afternoon. Then finally her fever broke. Will let out a sigh of relief just as his father arrived.
"i came as soon as I could how is she?" Allan questioned
"Her fever just broke, which is good however she been beaten up pretty badly and they managed to get off a shot before she got away." Will informed him "Kate and kenji are working the case. As soon as she is able. I'm moving her to Kates"
"I've got your brother looking into Mr Halliwell and your mother sends her love and supplies." He handed over a bag to his son "I was just checking in before seeing the Sheriff"
"Okay" Allan watched as his son turned back to his wife, tending to her filled with worry. William looked a stray piece of hair away then sat down by her side. Allan saw that his son had real love and care for his daughter in law, more beyond the original intentions. he left to go see the Sheriff.
"What you got, Logan." Allan questioned
"I went up to the cabin, it's in a right state. But it looks like she put up a fight. Spoke to some people, a man was asking where to find the new Mrs Pinkerton to pass on congratulations. I'm guessing that's how he found her." Allan nodded in understanding.

Will was sat by Wednesday's side, when he heard groaning and his eyes flickered up to see Wednesday's head rolling around and her eyes slowly opening.
"Hey, hey. Take it easy." Will told her
"Where am I? What's going on?" she questioned mumbling.
"You're at the Dubois. Wednesday do you remember how you got here? What happened?" She closed her eyes trying to remember.
"I was at home, there was a man he.... he was one of my fathers. He attacked me, shot me. Argh." she held onto where the bullet had hit her. "He was trying to kill me." Wednesday broke down and Will moved to comfort her.
"Listen to me. You're safe, I'm not leaving you." He assured her "We're gonna get him."
"Why? Why does he want to kill his own daughter? Why go this far?" She questioned herself
"I don't know. I don't but we're going to figure something out I promise." He shushed her soothingly, while stroking her hair back till she calmed down and fell asleep. William struggled to catch a breaths everything hit him at once. Meeting her, their marriage, her father, his family, her assault. The realisation hit him, he had fallen for her hard and fast and now the though of living without her was unbearable. There was a brief knock followed by Annalee stepping in.
"How is she?"
"She just woke up for a few moments. It wasn't the easiest thing to wake up to."
"Will, I think you should have this." Annalee told him holding a box "Wednesday gave it to me for safe keeping . She called it the doomsday box. for when everything else failed." Will carefully got up and made his way over to take the box. He opened it up and saw that there was a stack of papers. He sat himself down and scanned through them.
"Do you know what these are?" Will asked
"No, i never looked at it. She just told me to keep it safe and that it was a last case scenario." Annalee explained
"no wonder . Everything in here could blow up her entire family. Like everyone except her."
