Evangeline's POV

(Evangeline)

Max Lightwood's Rune Ceremony Party had just ended and I was waiting outside of Magnus Bane's apartment building for my date Alfonso Stephanie to pick me up when Jace Wayland showed up beside me.

"Hey Evangeline." Jace said. "Waiting for someone?" He asked.

"In fact I am. Why do you care?" I asked him. Ever since I saved him in France. I had drank his blood when he was poisoned and it saved him. But now he constantly showed up wherever I was and he would try to talk to me like we were best friends.

"It was just a question. Who are you waiting for?" He asked curiously.

"If you must know everything, I am waiting for my date to pick me up. He should be here in," I trailed off, checking my phone for the time. "2 minutes" I finished. 

"You're going on a date?" Jace asked again, this time his voice sounding angry and sad at the same time. 'Why does he seem sad and angry?' I thought to myself. I nodded in reply to his question. "Good for you. Who is the lucky guy?" He questioned, trying to sound happy for me.

"His name is Alfonso Stephanie and he is a Dhampire as well." I tell Jace. Just then Alfonso pulls up in a jet black car and I smile. I say goodbye to Jace before hopping in the car. Jace waved goodbye with a frown on his face. 

Time Skip

We were sitting in the Hunter's Moon drinking Bloody Marys. Alfonso and I talked about a lot of stuff and throughout the night he kept moving closer to me and he had his hand on my thigh for the majority of the date. I felt a bit uncomfortable with his hand on my thigh because of my difficult past. 

I had been kidnapped with some of my fellow Dhampires and we were tortured and I was raped. Before all this happened, I was more of an upbeat person and I always looked for the good in everyone, but now I am more of a reserved person and I always see bad in everyone. Well everyone except for one person, Jace. 

Alfonso was one of the dhampires who were captured alongside me and he knew about what happened to me so I kinda trusted him not to push me into anything. 

I was so wrong.

"Why don't we go back to my apartment and have some fun?" he asked me. I leaned away from him and shook my head.

"I'm not ready for that yet Alfonso. I'm sorry but with what happened in my past, I just can't do that right now." I explained to him. I saw his jaw clenched and his muscles tense up. 

"I don't give a shit about your past. Who the fuck cares if you were raped? No one. Now we are gonna go back to my place and you are gonna give me what I want." He hissed. I shook my head and stood up abruptly. I couldn't do this. I needed to get away. Alfonso grabbed my wrist and held me to him. I tried to push him away but he was stronger than me. He sunk his teeth into my neck and started to drink my blood. Tears started falling from my eyes. All of a sudden Alfonso was thrown off of me and into a wall. I looked up and saw Maia looking at me, worried. 

"Are you okay Evangeline?" She asked me. Maia and I had talked a few times but we weren't necessarily friends, considering that I was a dhampire and she was a werewolf. 

"Thank you Maia" I whispered before speeding out of the bar all the way home. I sat on my bed and cried until I had no more tears left. I couldn't believe he would do that to me. 'He knew about what happened and he didn't even care. How could I have been so blind? How could I have not seen this coming? I'm such an idiot' I thought.

Soon I heard a knock on my door. I wiped my tears away and got up. I looked through the peep hole to make sure it wasn't Alfonso. I saw Simon and Clary standing at my door. I unlocked the door and opened it.

"Evangeline, are you okay?" Clary asked. I nodded. 

"Maia called and told us what she saw" Simon told me. 

"Oh. Well thanks for coming to check on me but I'm fine so you don't need to stay." I told them.

"Well Jace is actually grabbing some food and bringing it here. We thought you could use some friends for a bit." Clary said. I sighed and opened the door for them to come in. 

"Make yourselves at home I guess." I said. I went to my bedroom to change out of my dress that I had been wearing the entire evening. I changed into some leggings and a grey sweatshirt. When I walked back into the living/kitchen area, I saw Jace at the table with a big bag of Chinese food and Clary and Simon nowhere to be found. He looked over to me then rushed up to me.

"Evangeline, are you okay? Did he hurt you?...." He bombarded me with questions about what happened. 

"Jace, I'm fine. Where are Clary and Simon?" I asked. 

"I gave them their food and asked them to leave so I could be alone with you." He said still looking for any signs of injuries. He saw a bit of blood on the neck of my sweatshirt and pulled it away from my neck. He saw the bite mark on m neck and started to freak out.

"I'm gonna kill him. I'm gonna rip him to shreds." Jace said, grabbing his jacket from the back of the couch and heading to the front door. I vamp speed in front of him.

"Jace, I'm fine. Please don't go try to kill him" I started. 

"How could you be defending him Evangeline? He hurt you and you are trying to protect him!? How does that make any fucking sense?" He asked, raising his voice. I knew that Jace was just looking out for me.

"I'm not protecting him Jace. I don't want you to go after him because I know how strong he is and I don't want you to get hurt." I explain to him. "I can't have you get hurt." I told him. Jace's face softened at my words. He knew about my past and he always made me feel safe. He pulls me into a hug and I wrap my arms around him and bury my face in the crook of his neck. 

"I just wanna make sure you are okay" Jace whispers. 

"Don't worry, I'm okay" I whisper back. We pull away and just look into each other's eyes for a while before I break the silence. "Before I was captured, I always saw the good in people and I was always so happy," I told him. "But when I was captured and when what happened to me happened, I became more reserved and now I always see the bad in people, except for you" I confessed to him. "I only ever see good in you Jace Wayland." I whispered. Jace hugged me again and placed a soft kiss to my forehead.

"I care so much about you Evangeline." Jace says softly. 

"Will you stay with me tonight?" I ask quietly. 

"Of course" Jace responds.

Time Skip

Jace's POV

I am laying in Evangeline's bed. She is sleeping beside me but I just can't fall asleep. I can't stop think of what that asshole did to her. He knows about her past and he still has the audacity to do something like that to her, pisses me off. I try to forget about it so I can get some sleep. I start to close my eyes, when an ear piercing scream rings out. I quickly wrap my arms around Evangeline and pull her close to me. She is still sleeping and I can only imagine that she is having a nightmare about what that douchebag did to her. She whimpers a few times and screams a few more times before settling back into a quiet sleep. 

'That's it' I think to myself. 'I have to kill this guy. He has no right to do that to the girl that I love and I can't just sit here, while he lives on, knowing that he is the reason that she is screaming in her sleep

I slowly get out of the bed and grab my jacket. I put my shoes on and grab my seraph blade. I sneak out the door and go to find Alfonso Stephanie.

Time Skip

Evangeline's POV

I wake up and roll over, expecting to see Jace laying beside me. I am surprised to see that the bed is empty. 'Maybe he is making food' I think. I get out of bed and walk into the kitchen to see that my place is empty. All of a sudden, Jace walks through the front door. His hair is messy and he had blood on his jacket. I look at me wide eyed and I figure out where he has been.

"You went after him didn't you?" I asked.

"Evangeline, I'm sorry but-" He started but I cut him off.

"I TOLD YOU NOT TO GO AFTER HIM! I TOLD YOU THAT I WAS FINE AND YOU COMPLETELY IGNORED ME AND WENT AFTER HIM WHEN I WAS ASLEEP!" I yelled at him. I was beyond pissed. I asked him not to go after him, because I didn't want Jace getting hurt and yet he went over my head and went after him. "YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE!" I yelled as I swung my hand at him. I slapped his left cheek, letting a bunch of my angry out. Jace looked at me before running his had down his cheek.

"I'm sorry I didn't listen to you, but I couldn't sleep knowing that he was still living. I had to do something about him because he hurt you." he tried to explain to me, but I was having none of it.

"WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST LEAVE IT ALONE? WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?" I yelled.

"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!" he yelled back. I was still angry but I did love Jace back. I angrily walked up to him and roughly kissed him. He kissed back and lifted me into his arms. I knew that Jace would never hurt me and I knew that we both loved each other. I started to tug at his shirt, signalling him to take it off. He pulled away from the kiss and looked at me. 

"Are you sure?" He asked, making sure that i was ready.

"Yes, now take your damn clothes off" I said, still kinda angry.

"Eager I see" Jace said with a cocky smile. He took his shirt off and as I took mine off as well. Soon we were both naked under the sheets.

Time Skip

Jace and I were both laying in my bed, both tired from our vigorous activity. I was laying against him with my head on his bare chest, my fingers tracing his runes. I knew what they all meant because I had the same ones burning into my skin. Jace and I laid there in silence just enjoying each other's company. After about 20 minutes Jace spoke up.

"So what does this mean for us?" He asked.

"Well I think you should take me out on a proper date now that we just slept together. I mean couples do normally go on dates so..." I trailed off, looking at him.

"Oh we're a couple now are we?" He smirked. I knew he was teasing me, it's just what he does.

"Well I mean you did confess your undying love for me" I teased him back.

"This is true" Jace said, before grabbing the side of my face, pulling me down towards him. Our lips connected in a passionate kiss. I rolled on top of him and we started to make out.
