(A/N: Sorry it took so long for me to write this. I had a lot of stuff to do between school, volleyball, and drivers ed. Thank you for being so patient with me. Hope you enjoy)

Grace's POV

Being a warlock who was dating a Shadowhunter was difficult. I didn't see Alec a lot so every second I spent with him, I cherished. Alec had been gone a lot more lately and I started to wonder why he was being assigned so many missions. I wondered why some other Shadowhunters couldn't take care of it.

I went to the Institute to see Alec and hopefully figure out why he was the one getting all these missions. I called Izzy first so she could invite me in and the alarms wouldn't go off.

"Hey Grace." Izzy greeted me when she saw me

"Hey Isabelle. Thanks for letting me come here." I responded. We both talked about how we have been while walking into the main area. When we got there I saw Alec holding a file. I used my magic to make the file disappear. Alec looked behind him and I smiled. He however didn't smile. I walked up to him.

"Hey Alec, what's wrong?" I asked. Normally he would smile when he saw me.

"That file was important Grace. Why did you have to make it disappear?" he said in a slightly angry tone.

"I'm sorry Alec. I didn't realize it was that important. Here." I said making it reappear in his hands.

"Thank you." Alec said to me, a small smile forming on his lips. I smiled back at him and kissed his cheek quickly.

"Alec, I need you to come with me to find Magnus Bane. He is the high warlock of Brooklyn and we need his help." a woman said as she approached Alec and I.

"We already know where Magnus Bane is." Alec replied.

"And where would that be?" the woman said.

"He's at his apartment." I answered before Alec could say anything.

"And who are you?" the woman asked

"I'm Grace" I told her extending my hand to her.

"Lydia Branwell" the woman told me shaking my hand. "How do you know where the high warlock of Brooklyn is?" she asked me

"I live with him" I answered.

"So you are a warlock?" Lydia asked. I nodded. Alec seemed nervous as Lydia and I talked. I never looked at him as I talked to Lydia but I could sense his discomfort and nervousness.

"So how do you know Alec? Do you need a Shadowhunter's help with something?" Lydia asked

"Oh, I'm Alec's girlfriend. I just came by to see why he had been getting so many missions." I responded. As soon as I said that I could feel and see that Lydia got uncomfortable and Alec was extremely nervous.

"Oh, he hasn't told you, has he?" Lydia said. I got very confused.

"Told me what?" I said looking at Alec

"Umm..." Alec started, but Lydia interrupted him

"Alec and I are engaged" Lydia told me. My heart shattered when I heard her say that. I looked at Lydia then back at Alec.

"Y/n, I was going to tell you bu-" I interrupted Alec

"Lydia, could you give us a moment?" I asked Lydia and she nodded and walked away, leaving Alec and I alone. "You are engaged to Lydia?" I asked tears running down my face.

"Y/n, I have to marry Lydia. I have to rebuild my family name after my parents ruined it. I still love you." Alec said

"Alec, why do you think you are responsible for rebuilding your family name? Why does it have to be you?" I asked him

"Because I'm the oldest. I am the only one who can do it, and marrying Lydia will rebuild my family name." Alec explained. I nodded, understanding what he was explaining.

"Congratulations" I said quietly. "You and Lydia will make a wonderful couple." I added before running out of the Institute crying. I sat in the park and just cried. It started to rain but I didn't care. The love of my life is marrying someone else.

Time Skip

It had been a few weeks since I found out that Alec and Lydia were engaged. Today was the day of the wedding and Izzy invited me. She said that I didn't have to come if I didn't want to but she just thought that I at least deserved an invitation to the wedding.

I had been on the fence about going all week and I still didn't know if I wanted to go and it was the day of. I looked at the clock and I saw that the wedding was starting in a few minutes. I jumped off the couch and rushed to get ready. I had to see Alec one more time before he got married to Lydia.

(This is what you are wearing)

I portalled to the Institute and I rushed into the room where the wedding was taking place. I opened the doors just as Lydia and Alec were about to draw the marriage rune on each other. Alec looked at me and so did Lydia.

"Who invited Grace?" Jace whispered, surprised that I was there after what happened between Alec and I.

"I did. But I didn't think she would actually show." Izzy whispered back to Jace. This entire time Alec's eyes were fixed on mine.

"Go," Lydia said to Alec. Alec looked at her with a confused look. "Go be with Grace. It's obvious that you truly love her so go be with her. Choose love Alec. I just want you to be happy." She told him with a smile.

"Thank you" Alec whispered to Lydia before quickly rushing down from the alter towards me. As he was walking towards me, his mother tried to stop him. "Sit down." Alec muttered to Maryse as he just walked past her, straight up to me. He quickly grabbed my face and smashed his lips onto mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck and quickly kissed him back. We pulled away only when we needed air and we pressed our foreheads together just looking into each other's eyes. "By the Angel, I missed you." Alec whispered to me.

"I missed you too." I kissed him lightly again. Jace, Izzy, Clary, Simon, Magnus, and even Lydia were all smiling at the two of us.

After everyone had left the room, Maryse walked up to Alec and I and started yelling at the two of us. Alec had had enough of his mother and told her off. Robert came up to Alec and asked to speak with him privately. I told Alec to go and that I was going to get something to drink.

While getting myself a drink, Lydia walked up to me.

"Thank you so much Lydia." I said hugging her.

"No problem Grace." Lydia said to me as she hugged me back.

I ended up marrying Alec a few years later and I have Lydia to thank for all of it.
