The Tech Doctors

*One Week Before School Started*

"Ah, hello. I can't find the internet." I say the moment the dial ring on my phone stops. After a moment I wonder if I should have given my name, Clara, and that I might've seemed rude.

"Sorry?" Asks the other voice, he seems surprised. I don't understand why he would be surprised, this is a tech support line. Don't they specialize in finding my internet?

"It's gone. The internet. I can't find it anywhere. Where is it?" I feel the need to reiterate that it's the internet I'm looking for. I determine that this man must be new, he doesn't seem to know what on earth he's doing.

"The internet?" He again questions.

"Yes, the internet. Why don't I have internet?" Does this guy have certifications to help me with my computer? I'm not convinced he knows more than I do on this subject.

"It is 12:07." He says. Maybe he is just sleep deprived and can't remember a thing about computers.

"I've got half past three. Am I phoning a different time zone? Oh, is this going to show up on the bill?" I never thought this process would be so complicated.

"I dread to think it," I can't tell if he is mocking me or not, "Listen, where did you get this number?"

"The woman in the shop wrote it down."

"What woman? Who has she?" I realized his curious voice sounded young, at least not old enough to work at a tech support.

"I don't know! The woman in the shop. Now, where is the internet? Shouldn't it just sort of be there?"

"Look, I'm not actually-" He began, before I cut him off.

"Look, sir, I hate to be rude, but I have some school forms I really need to print out. If we could just get on with this." After my hotly statement I heard some grumbling on the line, and then a deep sigh. He shouldn't take out his frustrations about working tech support on me, I didn't ask him to take this job.

"You clicked on the WiFi button, yeah?" I quickly scan the page and click on the WiFi icon.

"Yeah. Okay I found mine, it's asking for a password. Hold on." I turn to my friend Angie and ask her for the password.

"It's R Y C B A R 1 2 3." She hollers from another room. I think for a moment of how to remember it, and come up with a mnemonic.

"Alright, Run You Clever Boy one two three." I mumble to myself while typing it in.

"That is an awfully long password." The tech support guy comments.

"No, no, that's not the password. It's a mnemonic. YES! I'm in, hallelujah!" I yell in delight.

"Well, I'm glad the-" I could hear him thinking over the phone, "I'm glad that The Tech Doctors were able to fix your problem. Please don't give this number to your friends." He chuckled to himself.

"Thank you so much! Have a good day! Or night or whatever!" I say before he hangs up.

After wildly grinning at my computer in accomplishment I get up from my bed and walk to my desk. Grabbing a pen I scribble 'The Tech Doctors' next to the phone number and pin it onto my corkboard. You never know when you'll need a doctor.

A/N

Hello, hello! This is Grace(grace-the-loser) speaking, and I greatly hoped you enjoyed this short little one shot! I'll probably write one more tomorrow while I try and ignore the dread I feel for starting school on Monday. Bye, bye summer. I don't know when I'll be able to write another one shot because I'm in this competition for school and we're going to nationals and I have to practice and study blah, blah blah. So I can promise I will TRY. Also comment anything other one shots you might like to see, I have several ideas floating about my brain I just gotta write them down. But I love suggestions! I can write about almost anything!

So yup. Again, hope you enjoyed! Follow me @grace-the-loser and check out some of my other stuff!
