SPECIAL CHAPTER 6 [a]
"Kong, can you please stop roaming around? Everything is already set, Kong."
Kongpob who was going to the back yard suddenly stopped when Arthit gripped his arm.
Kongpob looked over at the backyard where may workers were setting up the seating and stage arrangements for the Christian wedding ceremony that was going to be held the next day.
"But P, I have to check that everything is in its place! What if they displaced something? What if they forget something? What if..." Kongpob's rambling was soon cut off as Arthit placed a soft kiss on his lips.
Arthit cupped his husband's face and smiled softly to him.
"Kong, listen baby. I know you want everything to be checked and everything to be organized well. But, do remember that you have been checking on the arrangements for the fast 5 hours, Kong! 5 HOURS! Everything is set and there are only a few arrangements to be felt. You now sit here and take rest."
Arthit said as he dragged his husband to the sofa and made him sit there.
As soon as Kongpob's body settled on the sofa, Arthit started massaging his husband's tensed shoulder.
Kongpob closed his eyes and let out a soft moan as he felt the pleasure of all the tensed up muscles relaxing in a way.
Kongpob placed his hand on his husband's, where it was settled on his shoulders as he pulled him to sit beside him.
"Time passed fast, right Kong?" Arthit started to speak as he leaned his head on his husband's shoulder.
Kongpob smiled bitterly as he hummed in agreement.
"It was like yesterday, Aroon called me Mommy for the first time. Now he is going to be the groom of his wedding ceremony tomorrow." Kongpob said as he caressed Arthit's silky hair.
Arthit chuckled and sat straight on the sofa as he looked at the clock, it showed 7 pm.
"Did Aroon tell you when he will be back home?" Arthit asked Kongpob.
"He had told me he will come back at 10 pm. I was about to object it but then I thought, let him enjoy his last days as a bachelor. It will be really hard after he gets married." Kongpob sighed.
Arthit chuckled.
"Oh, P'Arthit! Did you send the car to bring Mae and Por?" Kongpob asked.
"Yeah, they will arrive in 30 minutes. I called the driver just a few minutes ago." Arthit replied to his husband who just nodded his head smiling.
"Hmm... it will be like a busy market tomorrow, here. We have to get early tomorrow. After Mae and Por come home, we can sleep, ok?" Arthit nodded his head at Kongpob.
"Oh, did the triplets sleep? I didn't see them at all this evening." Arthit asked as he looked upstairs.
"They were busy checking out their new outfits for the wedding tomorrow, P. I also asked them to sleep early. If they sleep late today, it will be very hard to wake them up early tomorrow." Kongpob explained to his husband.
Arthit looked at Kongpob who had a small smile on his face as he looked over the window. A small smile stretched upon the lips of Arthit as he looked at his husband.
"Kong, I love you," Arthit said out of blue.
Kongpob turned and looked at Arthit who smiled to him sweetly.
"I love you too P."
And their lips touched with each other, a kiss of pure love and concern.
************
NEXT DAY......
"Aroon! Aroon! Wake up!!"
A room who was sleeping soundly on the rubbed his eyes as he opened his eyes to meet the angry face of his Mommy.
"See! I told you to come early yesterday, didn't I?! See, now you're having your hangover. Drink this water and medicine and ready you idiot! It's you're wedding day!"
Aroon rubbed his head which was having a bad headache and it increased as he heard Kongpob's blabbering.
"What's the time Mommy?" Aroon asked as he drank the water.
"5 am," Kongpob said.
"Why are you waking me up so early!?" Aroon asked annoyingly.
"Did your senses go away after your bachelor party yesterday!? The ceremony is at 8 am, Aroon! We have to reach Kathy's house at 7:30. Come fast and get ready my boy." Kongpob said as he placed a quick kiss on his son's forehead and went away.
Aroon stood up from his room and looked at his surroundings, it looked different.
His room that he shared with Aysel was not the same now. Aysel's bed was removed from the room and his single bed was replaced by a king-sized bed. His room looked more neat and clean. The two small cupboards he had was changed to a single big white-colored one.
"I didn't probably notice it as I was drunk," he said to no one in particular.
He took the towel that was given to him by Kongpob and walked to the bathroom to take his bath.
A small smile was present on the thin pink lips of his as he got excited as the seconds fast. He couldn't believe that finally, it was the day that he would be married to the love of his life.
After Aroon took his bath, he came out to be greeted by Kongpob who stood with a smiling face with his wedding outfit in his hands.
"Wear this, Aroon. Daddy will help you. I have to check on your siblings na." Kongpob said as he gave a quick kiss on his son's cheeks before he went out of the room.
Aroon looked at the outfit in his hands and he couldn't help but feel nervous.
Aroon closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"Son? Is there any problem?" Aroon opened his eyes as soon as he heard his Daddy's voice.
"Nothing Daddy. Just..hmm...nervous," Aroon said shyly.
Arthit chuckled and pated on his son's shoulder.
"Don't be my son. Everything is set. We only have to reach your to-be wife's house and Walla! You get married!" The way how Arthit said it made Aroon laugh.
"I felt the same too when I was in your position. But then I thought, why should I be overthinking? I am going to be married to the person who was with me for a long time and a person who I trusted. So, don't overthink my boy. Let's get ready, shall we?"
Aroon nodded his head and smiled to Arthit who gave him a homely hug.
******
"Mommy! Mommy! Do we look good!?" Daw's sweet voice filled the living room as Kongpob walked down the stairs all dressed up in a silk shirt and white pants looking attractive in anyone's eyes.
Kongpob chuckled as he saw triplets' excited face.
"Yes! Yes! You three look very beautiful! Now tell me, did your uncles and aunt arrive?" Kongpob asked.
The triplets shook their head in a 'no' sign as they looked outside the window.
"Kong!"
"Yes, Mae?" Kongpob called out to see his Mae coming forward with medicine in her hand.
"Can you please give me some water, son. I have to eat this medicine." Kongpob smiled softly at his Mae before he rushed to take the water.
When Kong came back with a glass of water in his hand, he saw the triplets and his both parents looking at the stares with a bewildered and shocked expression on their faces.
Kongpob followed their gaze to meet his son's figure, soon a gasp was heard from Kongpob
Handsome was an understatement. Aroon was looking overly charming with the pure white traditional cloth he had worn. The small peals on the shoulders of the shirt he wore reflected his eyes as the sun's rays fell on them. Aroon's brown hair that was stuck backward made him like more like a prince.
"Why are you guys looking at me like this?" Aroon asked with a pink tint washed over his cheeks at the attention he received.
"Oh my!! P'Aroon! You look soo damn handsome!!" Aysel squealed at her brother as she jumped up and down.
Soon the triplets started praising their brother for his handsomeness.
Kongpob shook his head to recover himself from the state. He walked to his mother and gave her the glass of water.
"Aroon is really a prince, Kong. He has got the charming looks from his two parents!" Kong's mother praised as she saw Aroon being engulfed by his siblings.
Kong gave a shy smile to his mother before he moved towards to stand with his husband.
"P our relatives are on the way. Nai, Chai and Aroon's friends are waiting outside. We should get going." Kongpob informed Arthit to which Arthit nodded his head.
Before Kong moved to take the necessary items for the ceremony he was engulfed in a tight hug by his son.
Kongpob smiled and a small drop of tear slipped through his eyes which he wiped away quickly.
"How do I look, Mommy?" Aroon asked as he pulled away.
Kongpob let out a sly laugh and cupped his son's face and kissed his forehead.
"You look charming my superman."
Aroon laughed at the nickname his Mommy used which remained him of his childhood.
"We have to move fast. We have to reach your fiance's house within one hour. You guys start moving. I will take the flower pots and all." Kongpob said as he patted his son's shoulder and rushed to the kitchen counter were all the things were kept.
Aroon looked at Kongpob and he didn't fail to see the tears that came out from his mother's eyes as he turned his head away from him.
He knew his mother never liked to show his weak side to anyone. Even sometimes not to Arthit.
"Come let's go! I can't wait to see my sister-in-law!" Daw said as she and her siblings took Aroon's hand and dragged him outside the house.
*********
All the groom members were at the wedding venue and they had decided to walk to the house with 5km distance.
The loud sound of music started to echo as the band members started to play the music.
The band members were followed back by the groom with a gift in his hand and his family members who all had gifts with them. Aroon's friends stood back of Aroon and started teasing him noticing the excited face of the groom.
The bride's family members on the other side couldn't help but praise at the groom's charming looks.
"Prae, I'm jealous you got a handsome son-in-law like him!" May squealed as she saw Aroon walking in the middle of his parents.
"Best things are always for the best ones, May," Prae said back and earned a glare from her best friend.
"Prapallin!"
Evelyn's stern voice made Prae stand stern on her feet.
Soon the groom reached in front of the bride's house which was decorated with white roses and a large golden pathway covered with red and white roses on both sides, with bridesmaid standing on the pathway holding strings that represent gateways to reach to the bride.
"Welcome to our family son." Evelyn and Prae welcomed Aroon with a right hug.
"Thank you so much, Mom," Aroon replied and kissed both his parents-in-law's hands.
"Welcome, P'Arthit and Kongpob." Evelyn welcomed the groom's parents with a warm hug.
"Thank you so much, N'Evelyn." Arthit smiled at them.
Aroon smiled as he looked at the entrance seeing the gates which he had to pass through. He remembered how his Daddy had told him about this part of the ceremony and how his Daddy had to face it during his marriage time.
Aroon was soon asked to move forward by his in-laws to which he complied with his friends teasing from behind.
Aroon was given a 16 envelops of money in his had which he had to give to the members who were carrying the strings in their hands which was a symbol of gates to reach his loved one.
He reached the first gate and he was greeted by Kathy's cousins which he know were very playful.
"Hey, Aroon! You look really charming today! I bet Kathy would faint if she sees you." Laura, one of them said giggling to which Aroon flushed red.
"I have a question for you Aroon, you have to answer this to pass through.", Nayna , the other cousin told Aroon.
"Sure!" Aroon replied excitedly.
"Ok, so here's the question. What's the most romantic thing your spouse has ever done for you ?."
Aroon smiled at the question.
"Well.....there are many things that Kathy had done for me which were romantic. Actually, you could tell she is the queen of romantic stuff. If I had to choose one then it would be the gift she had gave me on our 10th anniversary, when we were in college. She had reserved the top floor in a hotel and had set up the Flore with full of red roses and a beautiful dinner. It was really romantic you could say. I don't know how to say that out." Aroon said as he scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment.
The guests laughed at the groom's blushing face along with the parents.
"We didn't know our daughter was this romantic," Prae said to Evelyn to which her lover also nodded.
"Love can change people, honey," Evelyn said with a wink.
Aroon gave the envelope of money to both the cousins and soon the string was moved out giving Aroon the way to walk forward
He reached the second one and was asked by the two ladies that he should dance around the pillar sexily like a girl.
Aroon's eyes popped out and his mouth hung open. Arthit and Kongpob laughed seeing their son's bewildered expression.
Aroon's friends pushed him to dance and soon the full family and guests had a great laugh seeing the groom dance around the pillar pushing his butt out and licking his lips with his tongue.
Aroon's face was flushed crimson red as he finished the task as was moved to the next level. He looked back to see that there were 5 more left.
Aroon looked at the ladies standing infront of him and found that they were Kathy's and his best friends.
"So, Aroon. We have a question for you. This had been a question that we wanted to ask you for a long time. What was the moment where you thought, Maybe this isn't going to work?"
Aroon's and Kathy's friends have never seen this couple fight or sulk over anything. They fight around sometimes but soon apologize to each other within a few seconds. So this question has always been in their minds.
Aroon smiled softly as he progressed the question in his mind.
"Well, there had been this one time when we were on the verge of breakup. It was just two years back. I...I was busy with work and Kathy was too. We didn't have time for each other. We started missing each other. My parents had asked me to spend time with Kathy more than my work but I didn't agree. I gave more importance to my dream project than my lover.",
The surrounding suddenly became silent hearing Aroon's words.
"We had a small fight. Kathy told me how I was not finding time for her, how I was not texting back with her. I became angry and I told we should break up in my anger. And then I let her alone. I returned back home that night and my Mom noticed my change. He asked me what it was and I told him. He and dad helped me understand my mistake. The next day I went to Kathy and apologized to her. She is too kind that she took my apology instantly and took me back in her life. I still feel sorry for that and I never ever tried to avoid her in my life. She was and will always be my priority."
A huge round of applause was heard through the crowd as Aroon finished talking.
Arthit who was standing next to his son patted his back and whispered to him that they were lucky to have a son like him.
Soon the area was filled with laughter hearing all tasks Aroon were asked to do by the following bridesmaids.
In the end, Aroon passed through all the gates and was asked to walk to the treehouse at the back of the house and where Kathy was waiting for him.
Aroon along with his parents went towards the treehouse which was decorated with white silky curtains hanging down with yellow lights giving it a wonderful brightness among the shadows of the trees surrounding.
When the groom reached the entrance to the main door of the treehouse he heard giggles from inside.
"Here comes your Bride, Aroon." Kongpob nudged his son.
Aroon looked forward and saw Kathy's parents and her brother covering her up from his view.
Prae who was standing at the front smiled softly at Aroon.
"Take good care of our daughter, son. She is our jewel, never make her sad knowingly. You both should always stay together."
"We will Mom." Aroon smiled at Prae.
"Take care of her, son. Hope that you both will live your life happily. We love you both." Evelyn said with happy tears rolling down her cheek as she moved aside.
"Hey bro! Take good care of my sister or else I will give you nice punches."Kevin, Kathy's younger brother smiled naughtily at his brother-in-law.
Aroon and Kevin had a good laugh before he moved away to reveal the bride who stood behind him.
Aroon's throat became dry. There was a lump forming in his throat as he saw his fiance's face after two whole weeks.
Kathy smiled at Aroon amusingly as she admires the charm of her finance.
Aroon's eyes didn't leave from Kathy. The traditional white silky blouse that she wore reflected the sunlight to her face emitting a glow on her face. The purple skirt that she wore swept through the floor as she moved forward to Aroon.
"You look really beautiful, Kathy," Aroon said with dazzling eyes as he watched his bride.
A small chuckle was heard from Kathy who came close and hugged Aroon.
"You look overly charming my prince." Kathy praises her soon-to-be husband.
Aroon smiled as he returned the hug tight enough
with the same vigor of emotions.
"I missed you"
Both of them said at the same to which made them laugh.
Aroon's hands rested on Kathy's hair which was folded in a bun with pearl strings decorating her hair
" I don't want to interrupt this moment but, my dear children, we have to go to the wedding venue."
Arthit's voice made Aroon and Kathy separate away shyly as they saw their parents trying to suppress their laughter.
Aroon was asked to move forward while Kathy trailed behind him.
********
The wedding venue situated in the large garden at the house was decorated well with baby pink and white roses.
The pillars were decorated with white curtains, chaining each other perfectly with a bouquet of roses attached to it.
The big stage in the middle of the yard was decorated with golden silky curtains and red-colored sofas situated in the middle of it. A picture of both Aroon and Kathy was framed in the middle of the stage. Various kinds of gifts were laid down on the stage.
"Let's all put our hands together to welcome the groom, Aroon and his parents to the stage!!"
May's voice echoed through the speakers as she announced the arrival of the groom, as she was given the job as the MC of the event.
Aroon walked through the red carpet followed by his parents and siblings who were jumping around in excitement.
As Aroon came up to the stage he gave the way to his parents to sit on the sofa while she stood up next to them at the side.
"Now I request all of you to join your hands together for our bride, Kathy, and her parents!"
A huge round of applause echoed through the hall as Kathy came in, walking elegantly while holding both of her mothers' hands with a huge smile on her face.
Kathy, Prae and Evelyn walked to the stage and stood infront of Aroon who had a sweet smile playing on his lips.
Prapallin came forward and took Aroon's and Kathy's right hand and joined them together.
"Always stay together." She whispered to them and went away with Evelyn to sit on the sofa opposite to the groom's parents.
Kathy and Aroon soon were asked by the monk to sit on the white carpet that was placed on the floor.
They both seated down and soon the ceremonies began.
The ceremony began with the prayer and then the dowry and the wedding ring has been blessed with flower pray.
After that, both Aroon and Achara took the small flower garland and presented them to Arthit and Kongpob, whose eyes were whelmed up with tears and they were blessed by them. Then after they presented the garland to Prapallin and Evelyn and they granted the groom and bride their blessings.
There was a graceful smile plastered on Aroon's and Kathy's lips that could explain the happiness and affection they felt the moment.
Aroon soon stood up with Arthit and Kongpob and tied the dowry in a red silk cloth and presented to Prapallin and Evelyn.
Aroon smiled when he remembered how he and Kathy had a fight about the dowry. Kathy had clearly mentioned that she was not interested in dowry and she doesn't see it as valuable as their relationship. Aroon had to convince her that it was a part of the ceremony and their parents have already decided about it.
Aroon was brought back to the present when he heard his aunt, May's voice through the speakers.
"Thank you for everyone who is present here for the happiest ceremony in the life of our Aroon's and Kathy's wedding ceremony. As we have finished presenting the Sin Sod ceremony we are moving to the ring exchanging ceremony. Each of their parents please give them the wedding ring".
Kongpob came forward and passed a ring to Aroon.
"Aroon, I'm sorry if this seems unreasonable for you. But, this ring holds many memories. This is the ring your Daddy gave me when he proposed to me. I thought it will be nice to give this to you. It's just for our happiness. I'm sorry it might seem lame." Kongpob said looking down at the ring he had placed on Aroon's palm.
Aroon smiled lovingly at his mother's worried expression.
He took the ring which was placed in his hand and looked at Kongpob's eyes.
"Do you know one thing, Mom? This is really a happy moment for me. Putting the ring that my parents had their best memory in, on my lover's finger feels soo blessed. I will always be able to remember you guys and your legendary life whenever I see this ring on Kathy's finger. I will make this ring more special by adding our memories together in it. Thank you, Mom and Dad."
Aroon hugged Kongpob and Arthit tightly before he walked forward and took Kathy's right hand in his and inserted the ring in her ring finger.
A huge round of applause was heard as Aroon softly kissed Kathy's forehead after he had put the ring.
Kathy smiled as she took the ring from her parents and pushed it through Aroon's ring finger. She then kissed Aroon's both cheeks with huge screams and applause in the background.
After the ring exchanging ceremony Kathy and Aroon were said to be sitting on the dais in prayer position.
"Before the Sai Monkhon (Joining by Thread) ceremony do you both have anything to say to each other?" May asked the couple who looked at each other and smiled.
Aroon signaled Kathy to say first.
"Aroon and I have been in a relationship for more than 10 years and today at this moment, after so many challenges we faced through our emotions, we have finally come to a stage were we are tieing the knot together. From the first time I have met Aroon, he was like an angel for me who made me understand the value of why I had been living. You are the one who made me feel valuable. I don't know what to say, my mind is fully occupied with the excitement and various other emotions I am feeling now. One thing that will never change is my love for you, Aroon. I will always love you more than anything and you will always be my hero. I love you, baby."
Aroon's eyes whelmed up with tears as Kathy looked at him with love-filled eyes as she finished my message to him. Kathy smiled and passed the mic in her hand to Aroon who took a deep breath.
"Kathy had always been my strength and weakness. You always tend to whirl up my emotions the way I have never discovered. I still remember the time when you had proposed to me on the beach shore when we were in 4th grade to become your boyfriend. I remember how my Mom and Dad and my uncles and aunts laughed so hard seeing my shocked face. You were always different for me. So brave and ... different. You are the one who made me capable enough to face challenges along with my parents. You have always been my source of light and warmth, Kathy. I love you so much and will always, even after death apart us. I love you, my queen."
Aroon looked back at Kathy after he heard the applause, he saw her wiping her happy tears away as she looked at him with pure affection which he returned in the same vigor.
" So cute of you both. I'm really happy to see my best friends' children getting married. It feels soo special that once we saw both of your parents weddings and now we are attending their children's wedding." May said as she looked at her best friends who giggled hearing the statement.
"Apart from that, Now we start the Sai Monkhong ceremony. Both the groom and bride please keep your posture".
Both Aroon and Kathy's arms were rested on a small padded table and their hands were held together in prayer position. Kongpob and Evelyn came forward and placed the traditional headpiece called Mong Kol on the head of both the grooms. The string headpiece, previously blessed by monks, will join the couple during the rest of the ceremony, and symbolically for the rest of their lives.
"Now as the Mong Kol is a place I ask,
Do you Aroon Rojnapath take Kathy Ployshompo to be your wife, to promise to be faithful to her in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love her and to honor her in all the days of your life?"
"I do," Aroon said proudly.
"Do you Kathy Ployshompo take Aroon Rojnapath to be your husband, to promise to be faithful to him in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love him and to honor him in all the days of your life?"
"I do," Kathy said with the most beautiful smile on her face
"Now I request both the grooms' parents to come forward and let a beginning to the Rod Nam Sang (Shell Ceremony) ceremony followed by other family members and friends".
Aroon's parents came forward first and took the shell with water and poured onto both Aroon's and Kathy's hand followed by a thread tying in both of their hands.
"Let you both live a long life and we wish you both will fill your life with happiness. There will be times when you have to face challenges, at that time we hope both of you will hold your hand's together and face them." Kongpob said as he kissed his son's and daughter-in-law's forehead.
"You both are really meant for each other. We love you both soo much. Never fail to approach us when you need help son. I and Kongpob and still your parents and we will always be there to help you until we die. I hope you both will take care of yourself. And Aroon, if I hear you hurt my daughter-in-law, then be prepared for your death!" Arthit joked to which the couple laughed.
Kathy's parents came forward and took the shell with water and poured onto both Aroon's and Kathy's hand followed by a thread tying in both of their hands.
"You both will always have our blessings. Hope you both find your happiness in your small world. Hope you both will never leave each other's side. Aroon, please do take care of my daughter, you know how clumsy she is." Aroon laughed hearing Prapallin's words and nodded his head while Kathy stuck her tongue out at her mother.
"Always take care of each other. Don't forget to share how you both feel to each other. You both can always come to us in need of help and we will always be there for you both. We love you." Evelyn said as she kisses both Aroon and Kathy's forehead.
Soon their siblings came in and gave them their wishes and followed by their close relatives.
********
Arthit and Kongpob who stood far away, watching their son smiling and with Kathy.
"I can't believe Aroon had got married. It seems soo fast." Kongpob said through his long sigh.
Arthit looked at his husband and smiled.
"We are his parents, Kong. That is the reason why we feel it's soo fast. It has been 23 years since Aroon had come to our life." Arthit sighed.
"At least we have our triplets with us." Arthit marked teasingly.
"They won't compare Aroon, right? The place we have for each of our children are different P. We cannot compare one with another." Kongpob said as he rested his head on his husband's shoulder.
Arthit smiled and nodded before he placed a small kiss on Kongpob's smooth, silky hair.
